The Dungeon's Sole Conqueror (5)
“Gaaah!”
Randelt ultimately crumbled into dust and vanished into the air. In the spot where he had stood, a glistening isle lay dropped.
“The isle of eternal life, huh.”
I didn’t pick it up right away, just watched it quietly. Like all living things, isles have a lifespan too. An isle’s life is about a hundred years. While it stays inside its owner’s body, it can exert its power permanently even after the owner dies—but once it’s exposed to the outside world, it contacts the air and fades away soon after.
That’s what happened now. Having lived far beyond its allotted lifespan, the isle of eternal life lost its luster, burst into flames, turned to ash, and disappeared.
“What a shame.”
It would’ve been nice if I could’ve claimed it. With that thought, I turned toward the exit—
But then, out of nowhere, a brilliant light burst from the spot where the isle of eternal life had vanished.
Spot!
“Ugh!”
The light poured down so intensely it was hard to keep my eyes open. Fsssh. It gradually faded, and I slowly opened my eyes.
Something lay on the floor.
“That’s…”
A white-glowing orb. It was an isle.
In that instant, tales I’d only heard about isles flashed through my mind. An isle born from nature itself. To think I’d witness the birth of a new one right before my eyes…
I rushed over and picked it up.
“What power does this one have?”
Gulp.
I swallowed it without hesitation. I felt the isle slide down my throat, its energy spreading through my entire body. And soon—
God Touch
My eyes widened. God Touch—touching the body while casting it brings pleasure…? Perfect for self-comfort or cheering someone else up…
Not a combat skill, and of all things, I get this perverted ability?
No, wait a second. Isn’t this great for using on women?
I’d been relying solely on my dick this whole time, but adding hands into the mix could help stave off stamina drain during sex. Just send them off with fingers first.
On second thought, this is perfect.
I cast God Touch and lightly touched the spot below my right ear.
“Ugh…!”
Starting from my fingertip, a small wave of pleasure rippled out around my ear. At the same time, my dick felt heavier, stirring to life.
Yeah, this thing works.
I deactivated the skill and gazed at the now-empty throne. Then I turned to look down at where Randelt had vanished.
Tsk tsk. I clicked my tongue and shook my head.
This bastard… what the hell was he doing for two hundred years to birth an isle infused with the essence of a finger master?
I didn’t want to imagine it. Shoving the thought aside, I moved on.
Thud!
A massive stone door swung open, revealing a passageway. On one side sat a liquor jar and a honey pot.
To the one who defeated the Greed Knight Randelt.
Raise a cup in celebration.
This gift is for you—drink without worry.
I read the inscription on the wall, then opened the jar’s lid and sniffed the liquor.
“Oh…”
A potent aroma hit me. But it smelled good. My mouth watered involuntarily.
Maybe just a sip? Nah, I’m driving right now. I sealed it back up.
“Gotta share this with the guy in the next room.”
Tucking the liquor jar and honey pot under my arms, I headed out.
Suddenly, every crystal orb let out a pop and went dark.
“What the—?”
“What happened?”
“Why’s it doing this?”
“I wanna see what’s next! Hurry up and call the mages to fix it!”
The plaza erupted in chaos from the merfolk’s uproar.
“Damn, I forgot it only went this far.”
Illar glanced around briefly, then raised his clenched fist high. The crowd fell silent as the grave.
“Listen up! The time for peeking through the crystal orbs is over! From now on, all we can do is wait quietly for that guy to come out!”
No one had surpassed the Greed Knight Randelt in the past two hundred years, so the observation magic’s maintenance had stopped right there. The rooms after Randelt had sat untouched for two centuries—the spells had partially eroded or been destroyed, halting their function.
“Any idea how long it’ll take?”
“How many are left?”
“So if he dies in there, we won’t even know? If he doesn’t come back, we assume he’s dead?”
Illar furrowed his brow.
“Shut up and wait quietly! I can’t tell you a damn thing about the dungeon! If you’re so curious, go in yourselves and find out!”
He bellowed, then cracked a sly grin.
Ahh, how long have I waited for someone to properly conquer the dungeon I made?
So many said the same thing: “Looks like you messed up the dungeon, sire.” “You should’ve researched more…” “Difficulty balancing failed.” “No one will ever clear it.”
And yet! Right here, someone’s conquering it like it’s nothing!
This proved he hadn’t botched the dungeon after all.
Honestly thought I’d die without ever seeing it fully cleared.
In truth, this dungeon was a gift for his unrequited crush, the Star of the Sea, Titrite. He’d planned to conquer it with her as a date, but against expectations, she found it boring. She ditched midway, calling it dull, so rather than let it rot, he’d opened it to the world.
The final room held a gift for Titrite: the Erkness Lasso needed to capture her dream steed, Pegasus Sesiah. And one last thing… something very expensive.
He’d meant to slyly offer the lasso and that item in the final room as a proposal. But the plan flopped, so he’d given up.
Whoever grabs it now, whatever.
Especially since Titrite was dating some other guy.
Tch!
Illar himself was seeing another sea woman now. Having found new love, what he craved most was rebuilding the dungeon. Before, he’d built it for the woman he loved—but now, he was hooked on crafting dungeons purely for the fun of it.
If the guy inside fully conquered it, reconstruction could finally begin. He was thrilled inside.
This time, I’ll calculate the difficulty perfectly and make it right. Not overdo it so even I can’t clear it like last time.
His passion as a dungeon creator surged.
A ton of new traps had been developed over the past two centuries—he was dying to test them.
He should be coming out soon.
Two hours had passed since the orbs went dark. After the Greed Knight Randelt, four rooms remained. Excluding the final reward room and the bedroom-like one he’d made with sex with Titrite in mind, only two had monsters.
Hope you pull it off, human. If you bring good news, I’ll give you my daughter.
That was Illar’s vow.
“Where the hell did you even catch a Tyrannosaurus?”
I grumbled as I walked. After the knight Randelt, I’d faced some wicked undead lord and killed him with the booze and honey he feared. Then came the dinosaur. That room had been a nightmare—drained me to the point I couldn’t fight anymore.
“No good, no good. Out of mana.”
Just when I thought I was truly done, luck struck. I’d reached the final room at last.
“Oh…”
No monster inside. Just rewards.
The sight of the Erkness Lasso I’d longed for, mounted on its stand—I dashed over and snatched it up.
“Mine.”
I grinned in satisfaction.
Then Vera’s voice popped up out of nowhere.
—Hero, I didn’t expect you to take an interest in Pegasus Sesiah. It seems our bond isn’t over yet.
I jolted back in shock.
“You were watching me?”
Vera didn’t answer my question, just kept chuckling.
—I’m looking forward to it.
With that, her voice faded.
“She saw it all? Even this sealed dungeon—she really is a god, being a demigod and all.”
Muttering to myself, I scanned the brick-walled chamber more closely. The walls were carved with roses everywhere, and the room held several statues of baby angels clutching bouquets. It felt bright and flowery. Like stepping into a wedding hall.
Staring around in a daze, I spotted a hidden jewelry box behind a large pillar by chance.
“What’s this?”
Some surprise event? Deliberately tucked in the floor?
I picked it up and opened it. The magic barrier around the box shattered easily, and the lid popped open.
A white-glowing orb. An isle.
Another isle!
Two in one day! I was overjoyed. I’d come just for the lasso to catch Sesiah, but these unexpected hauls had my heart swelling.
That barrier on the box must’ve been to preserve the isle’s freshness.
Two hundred years old. Gulp. Down it went in one swallow.
Once I grasped the isle’s power, my eyes bulged.
Instant Move
Move any distance in the blink of an eye.
“Insane.”
A hero with a sword who can Instant Move? Total cheat! Slash enemies mid-teleport, and in seconds, you’d massacre who-knows-how-many. Plus, applications for Instant Move sex…
“Wonder if the girls will like it. Hmm.”
I spent the next ten minutes testing Instant Move, marveling the whole time—
Zing.
A portal suddenly formed in the room. Felt like an exit to the outside.
“Time to go?”
No further path ahead. Time to head back.
“Feels good.”
I’d just become the first to conquer a dungeon no one else had cleared.
I gave the room one last look, gripped the Erkness Lasso, and stepped into the portal.
Emerging on the other side, I saw a massive crowd of merfolk in the plaza.
“…What?”
Too many to count—their numbers stretched endlessly. And to top it off, they were all staring right at me. It was terrifying.
