Day 13 of Praying for the Blonde Beautiful Girl Samurai's Stream
Professor Cheon Se-rin was right: my will was the top priority, and as long as I was happy, everything else was secondary. The paperwork was processed so quickly that before I knew it, I had already become her daughter.
"Stay healthy and live well over there, Jeong-ah. Don't get sick."
"Goodbye, Jeong-ah Unni..."
"If you ever miss the teachers, don't hesitate to visit the orphanage anytime."
It was only when the moment of departure actually arrived that the reality of parting truly set in.
"Are you sad to leave? Want to say a few more goodbyes?"
"No, this is plenty."
Even though it had only been a short period of about two weeks, I seemed to have grown quite attached to the place. Now that I was actually leaving the orphanage, my feelings were a bit complicated.
Professor Cheon Se-rin's house was closer than I expected, which made sense when I thought about it. She commuted to the Academy, and the Academy wasn't very far from my school and the orphanage. However, the house itself was quite different from what I had imagined.
"You're really rich..."
A super-high-rise penthouse located right behind the Academy grounds. It oozed luxury from the entrance, and access was strictly controlled for non-residents. Every time I passed by, I used to wonder who lived in a place like this. It turned out to be someone like Professor Cheon Se-rin.
"I've been doing nothing but earning money since I was young."
Seeing me look around in awe, Se-rin cleared her throat awkwardly. The interior was even more spectacular. It was so vast that it was hard to tell where the rooms ended and the living room began. Through the massive windows in the living room, the Han River was visible in all its glory.
"How big is this place exactly?"
"Well. Was it 120 pyeong? I bought it so long ago, I don't really remember."
It was practically the size of a park. After marveling at its sheer size and grandeur for a moment, the layout of the house caught my eye, sparking a different thought.
"It must have been a bit lonely living here alone."
And it was true. The massive house was barely furnished. In this vast living room, a single sofa was the only piece of furniture. Rather than simple minimalism, it felt completely devoid of any signs of life. It didn't feel like a home where someone lived; it felt like a model house. Instead of a place to rest, it felt like a spot where she merely slept and left.
"...Well. Was I lonely? Now that you mention it, maybe. I don't really know."
Scratching her head, Professor Cheon Se-rin proceeded to show me around the rest of the house. Because the place was so massive, just touring it took a considerable amount of time.
"And finally, this is your room. I ordered a new bed, and it arrived the day before yesterday. I got a queen size so you'd have plenty of space. Do you like it?"
"I love it, Mom."
I immediately ran over and rolled around on the bed. It was incredibly high-end and unbelievably fluffy. A silly grin spread across my face as if I were lying on a cloud.
"Please call me Unni or Professor, not Mom..."
She sounded somewhat drained as she added, "I'm not even thirty yet—"
So she wasn't even thirty. Maybe something was wrong with my eyes, but I always found it hard to tell people's ages just by looking at them. She was definitely at an age where being called 'Mom' would feel a bit depressing.
"Yes, Professor."
Professor felt much more comfortable than Unni. It wasn't that I was denying the reality of becoming a girl, but uttering words like 'Unni' or 'Oppa' still felt incredibly awkward. Would there ever come a day when I could say those words naturally? Perhaps because it wasn't a future I particularly desired, I couldn't really picture it.
It was while I was looking around my palace-like room.
"Oh, the capsule is in my room. Do you play games with a capsule too?"
A capsule was of utmost importance. I had been waiting for this exact moment. When I nodded, the professor gestured for me to follow.
"Let's go. I'll show you how to use it."
"Well, I'm not really sure when she'll be back..."
"No, we're not! Geummisa and I are close! None of you even have her number!"
Good, handled that smoothly. She had intentionally raised her energy, and fortunately, it didn't seem to come across as forced.
This had been happening frequently lately. Questions about the Blonde Beautiful Girl Samurai popping up during her streams, and viewers asking Han-ah about her whereabouts. Since Geummisa had gained an unprecedented level of popularity on the forums, many people came looking for her on Han-ah's stream, which was the source of it all.
While she banned those who spammed or asked to the point of disrupting the stream, she couldn't control the conversation when it naturally flowed during breaks like this. After all, Jeong-ah had already become an inseparable part of Han-ah's stream.
"But she did tell me she'd guest on my stream one more time. And she seemed interested in starting her own stream eventually."
Every time, she could only give the same response.
I don't know either!
Han-ah wanted Jeong-ah to appear on the stream just as much, if not more, than the viewers did. In fact, she probably wanted it even more than they did. However, having received word that Jeong-ah couldn't play the game for the time being due to "certain circumstances," there was nothing Han-ah could do. She could only placate the viewers endlessly and wait for Jeong-ah to contact her.
Now is the perfect time, though.
Han-ah clicked her tongue inwardly with regret. It had been two weeks since Jeong-ah last appeared on Han-ah's stream. It was more than enough time to make Geummisa's fans anxious, and in Han-ah's eyes, making them wait any longer would yield no further benefits. Anticipation was at an all-time high. At this point, the best move would be for Geummisa to show up, popping the swollen balloon of expectation.
Well, nothing can be done.
Things in life rarely went exactly as planned. Knowing this all too well, Han-ah brushed aside her disappointment and stood up to continue her stream, when—
> A message has arrived from JjungwooPark.
"Huh?"
A single notification popped up right before Han-ah's eyes.
The Virtual Reality Broadcasting Gallery was peaceful today as well. As always, users started with trivial topics and engaged in heated debates with faceless strangers behind monitors. Upvotes and downvotes clashed like spears and shields. Underhanded tactics like multi-accounting and spamming were readily deployed for the sake of victory, culminating in heartwarming inquiries about each other's parents—a typical day on the forum.
However, a closer look at the rapidly refreshing posts revealed a slight shift in this daily routine. A new face had been mentioned periodically by the gallery users for the past few days. Posts about someone referred to as the "Blonde Beautiful Girl Samurai" or "Geummisa."
After exactly 14 days, 47 minutes, and 24 seconds, the Blonde Beautiful Girl Samurai finally showed herself to her fans once again.
