The God of Communication
Someone once said that hate comments are better than indifference.
Streamer Kim Eunha was living that claim in real time, whether she liked it or not.
After two full days of weathering the storm of hate, her conclusion was…
I honestly have no idea?
She was still answering as kindly as she could, hoping that even a handful of the hundreds of malicious lurkers might stick around for real. After all, traffic was traffic.
“I’m going to cut the boyfriend jokes, okay? It was the first time I’d ever met him.”
The mindless spam and pure vitriol that kept popping up felt less like feedback and more like someone just dumping waste. At that point, indifference really did seem better.
Still, the ones who stayed and insulted her while watching were at least interacting. That left a sliver of hope they could be converted.
In the sense that something—anything—might remain afterward, hate comments really did beat total silence.
But are there even any normal people left in there…?
She worried the only ones hanging around were pure toxic weirdos. And she definitely didn’t have it in her to lean into the chaos and run a high-stimulus stream the way Durihyeok did.
For two days she had been stuck grinding between those two extremes, and the stress was finally starting to climb when—
“I don’t have a boyfriend, you absolute bastard!”
She snapped once, then froze.
Wait.
Went live?
The malicious crowd was already murmuring and pouring out of her stream in real time, so it clearly wasn’t a lie.
“Go watch? Come on, that’s a bit much.”
Those locusts had finally started thinning out—now they wanted her tied to this again? After she’d finally found an escape hatch, they wanted her to kick it shut with her own foot? Who even says something that stupid—
“Hyuk… I mean, thank you so much for the fifty thousand, HyuksCrownSmell. Well then… shall we take a quick look?”
For a tiny streamer, that was an impossible amount of money to refuse. And, just like the chat said, she was curious herself.
What on earth was this person thinking, walking straight into the fire?
Probably… to apologize?
From what she’d heard, the same person had been sniping on alts elsewhere too. If they weren’t planning a public apology and taking responsibility, there was no real reason for a normal person to go live. Worst case, they could just run and it would be over.
“The ID is DualKingChaechae, right? I remember that one.”
DualKingChaechae’s stream thumbnail was the default computer wallpaper everyone knows. Pure civilian energy radiating off the screen.
Kim Eunha clicked with a faint knot of tension in her stomach.
“It’s… quiet?”
Absolute silence. Not a single noise. Either the mic was muted or there simply wasn’t one.
Common sense said that whether it was an apology or an explanation, there had to be a mic…
“Guess they haven’t started yet.”
Looking at the default wallpaper, Eunha figured they might still be setting up.
But then a tiny mouse cursor appeared, poked around a few places, and a white Notepad window opened and swallowed the entire screen.
Hello?
Text. On Notepad. Extremely tiny text.
“Uhh…?”
She had to lean her face right into the monitor just to read it.
Oh it shows up on the stream. Cool. asdfjkl;qwertyuiopzxcvbnm
DualKingChaechae was just happily smashing keys across the live broadcast because it looked neat. That complete lack of tension made some people furious and left others full of question marks.
Kim Eunha was firmly in the latter camp.
“No mic… I guess?”
Somehow the heat was starting to leak over into her own chat too.
“Yelling at me doesn’t help anything…. I’ll try zooming in myself. Just a second.”
I don’t have a mic. I’ll just use Notepad. But the chat is too fast, I can’t read it.
Once she finished zooming in for the streamer who clearly had no interest in accommodating viewers, her own chat cheered. On the other side, though—
To Durihyeok’s viewers, Woniwoni was the archenemy who had gotten their streamer banned. Naturally the other chat was nothing but spam and curses.
Because the full screen was being broadcast, everyone could see DualKingChaechae alt-tabbing in real time to check the chat… only to immediately hit the X and close it.
Not reading chat.
The streamer(?) had just refused all communication.
“Uh…”
This wasn’t the usual “I’m pretending not to look.” This was the real deal. The screen with the chat closed was literally Woniwoni’s point of view.
I-is this even allowed? People are going to get even angrier…
Sure enough, when Kim Eunha cautiously peeked at the other chat, it was pure hell. She shook her head and closed it too.
One-way communication had officially begun.
Okay so. Uh. Uhhhh. Hmm hmm where do I start.
After another round of random typing that looked like thinking out loud, DualKingChaechae’s fingers suddenly started flying.
Ah, right. This is what I wanted to say. I went live because people were just making stuff up and other streamers were getting hurt too.
First of all, uh, I never sniped Momozi or Jung Taeyeon.
Letters bloomed across the white Notepad as the explanation rolled out. Apparently after running into Momozi and Jung Taeyeon by chance, they had gone looking for internet streams.
I was browsing other streams and scrolled down and saw this culture called “viewer participation.” Do you know what that is? Basically it’s a content type where viewers play games together with the streamer—
Eunha facepalmed.
Among the people who had swarmed in furious, was there even one person who didn’t know what viewer participation was? Yet the streamer just kept explaining, very helpfully.
The more the communication-black-hole DualKingChaechae turned into an explanation machine, the more her own viewer count climbed.
Word of mouth was spreading: DualKingChaechae wasn’t reading chat and the screen was a mess, so people might as well hang out in Eunha’s room where they could actually talk and see properly.
That’s how I ran into Durihyeok in-game. This isn’t an alt, this is my only account. I play a lot of quick match so I’m not bad, but it was my first time in ranked. Since it was my first time I figured playing with other people wouldn’t be so bad~ so I tried it. It wasn’t sniping and I wasn’t trying to bus anyone either!
The typing speed had clearly picked up, and a quiet anger was seeping through the keys.
Of course since it was my first ranked, I start at a low tier and I have no choice but to stomp my way up! So what, am I supposed to never play ranked for the rest of my life? And am I a god? How am I supposed to know how well I’ll do. I was nervous so I just tried playing with someone. But then they started talking trash on stream and it pissed me off.
“Heh…”
Her mouth fell open on its own.
Eunha had fully expected Woniwoni to apologize. Life was like that sometimes—even when you were in the right, there were moments you had to bow first. Calm the angry crowd, then tell your side. That was how adults communicated, she thought.
But then—
I saw Durihyeok was around the same tier so I tried viewer participation there! He started it first. Talking without knowing anything. We both messed up so call it even. Ah, but the one extra game of viewer participation after that, I’m sorry for that. I’ll apologize for that one. *bow*
Ah! Wait. Thinking about it, earlier in a game I ran into people intentional trolling -_-. So now that makes us even too. Apology cancelled.
DualKingChaechae just went for the frontal assault.
Kim Eunha cried tears on the inside.
Hehe. We’re screwed.
Viewer participation? That wasn’t even how you used the word.
Before anyone noticed, DualKingChaechae’s viewer count had broken two thousand, and Kim Eunha’s stream was nearly at a thousand. Far from a relief pitcher, it felt like she had grabbed the hand of a living, breathing flamethrower.
Hell, Durihyeok was even ranking with his editor on an alt at the time. Then he got absolutely destroyed, started seething, pulled the replay, and publicly cooked a regular person.
And Woniwoni says that was their main account lmao. Yeah that would piss anyone off.
Looks like they’re waiting till they can ditch the account and then going full cheats in ranked for fun. Plus sniping streamers a bit before that, yeah.
In this clip they one-tap with the sniper, then while dodging the second guy’s bullets they do something like a jump shot?
But in Dead Zone, moving shots are basically structurally impossible. Especially shooting while jumping? The bullet should spray immediately and hit somewhere weird.
If you slow just that scene down, they jump and shoot the instant they land. I asked a high-tier friend and they said the timing is insanely precise.
And the side-to-side weaving while jumping to dodge is also weird as hell. Said they’ve never seen that kind of step before.
Might actually be cheats? It’s spectator view not personal POV so not 100%.
Then while playing Dead Zone, the second they hit a cool play they sneak the chat window back open.
Your whole screen is visible you dumbass lmaooo
Hoping for compliments? What a transparent little shit lmaooo
