The Reason I Fled the Club Room (1)
“Then I’ll be going now.”
Before the conversation could drag on any longer, I wanted to slip into the library. From morning until now—first with Lee Hyun, now Jo Yu-mi—I couldn’t remember ever drawing this much attention since starting at Korea University. And it wasn’t because I was some hotshot looker. No thanks to those jealous stares sparked by my tussles with the campus beauties.
As I brought my student ID to the entrance scanner, Yu-mi snatched it right out of my hand.
“Huh? Why again?”
“That studious attitude of yours, hitting the library hard since the new semester? Love it. But something about it feels like you’re dodging me. You’ve been skipping club activities you used to show up for at the end of last semester, ignoring my calls. And instead of the convenient Library 1 right by the club building, you’re trekking to the affiliate library.”
“Uh...”
“I got sick of that same old ‘I’m studying in the library’ excuse every time I called, so I once scoured every damn library on campus. And there you were, bold as brass, in the affiliate one.”
“It’s just... more comfortable there...”
“Bullshit. Whatever. No lunch plans, right?”
“Nothing set in stone yet, but I might get a call.”
“Who from? That Rapunzel with the long hair? Heard her boyfriend’s back from the army. You got no shame, wedging yourself between a happy couple over lunch?”
“No, it’s not— There’s this kid from next door, my little neighbor sis. She just got into Korea University this year. She’s in morning class right now, but after it ends, she’s heading to her department to greet the seniors. If she can’t join them for lunch, we said we’d link up.”
“Hmm...”
Yu-mi crossed her arms, staring off into space as she mulled it over. From what I’d seen, whenever she was deep in thought, she had this habit of drumming her fingers against her arm. Damn good habit, too. Oh man...
She crossed her arms in a way that cradled her chest, or at least that’s how it looked. Whatever her intent, she’d hiked those massive tits up high, slipping her arms underneath. They were already enormous just sitting there, but now squeezed together, the overflowing flesh spilled everywhere uncontrollably.
Ugh... I’m getting hard again...
As my pants started tenting stealthily, I scowled and looked away, following her gaze to the distant sky. Please, God. Fuck. At least the coat’s hiding it.
Yu-mi paused her thinking, then uncrossed her arms.
“That neighbor kid a girl?”
“Yeah, little sis.”
“Ah, the whiny princess from next door you griped about before?”
“Hahaha, you remember.”
“Of course. First time I saw you grinding your teeth like that over someone.”
“......Haha.”
“Okay, I had a lunch thing too, but we’ll do lunch. But clear your evening.”
“Huh? Evening? Why evening...?”
“You paid your club dues like a champ but skipped the year-end party. Your sunbae’s treating big on day one—don’t argue, make time.”
“But... I might head home with her...”
“What, you her babysitter now? Can’t she read? Can’t she spot the bus numbers? If she’s next door, it’s close enough to walk. Shut it and stay. That’s an order from your sunbae.”
No, fuck... If I’ve been dodging her this hard, shouldn’t she play dumb and pretend we’re strangers?
Yu-mi had already nailed down her decision, locking it in firm. Before we parted, she looped her arm around my neck one last time in a headlock.
“Aww, I’ve been dying to do this.”
H-Help... N-No, my... my face... haaah!
I wondered if this was what it felt like to suffocate during sex. Buried in Yu-mi’s explosive tits, my thoughts just... cut out. Dopamine raging wild in my brain. As I writhed in that electric bliss, she finally released me, flashed a grin, waved, and sauntered off.
Hah... hah... Fuck, it feels good, but what now? We’ve made plans face-to-face; can’t just ghost her like on calls.
Contrary to my first impression, Yu-mi wasn’t some bulldozer type. Like her advice to dive into club life for a real college experience, she’d put real effort into helping me settle in. She didn’t throw me a personal welcome party or anything, but come lunchtime, my phone always pinged with her texts.
Eat yet? Sunbae’s got some pocket money—want me to spot you?
Her messages and calls were always blunt, but I felt genuine warmth in them. That’s how I gradually weaned off Yoon Yesul, finding time and space to lean on another woman: Yu-mi.
You’ve been ditching lunch with me lately, heading to the club more. That fun, huh?
When Yesul asked—with that not-quite-worry in her voice—about my separate lunch plans, I could answer confidently.
Oh, there’s this one sunbae in the club. Total bro despite the looks. Treats me to meals. She’s my age actually, but so mature it makes me shrink sometimes, haha. You couldn’t hang with your department friends much because of me—that’s why I mustered the guts to check out the club. Worked out great. You get it, right?
............
Her blank stare lingered in my mind, but I figured it was just her feeling the pressure to find new lunch buds. I even resolved to ask if she’d made friends for meals.
Club life turned out way more fun than expected. Bumping into sunbaes, they’d drag me to bars whenever study stress hit, and I loved the fresh chaos. The first club trip was a blast too. Train ride with everyone, hanok village eats—delicious. Browsing museums, ogling cute souvenirs and trinkets. Stuff that looked boring on TV felt totally different in person, shared with sunbaes and dongsaengs.
Of course, the trip’s highlight? The booze bash at the minbak. Pure pandemonium. Samgyeopsal sizzling on the grill, but the already hammered crew chugged booze like snacks, mixing beer, soju, and makgeolli into giant bowls of cocktail jjambbong for the newbies.
Liver-blessed lightweight that I am, I downed every pour, turning into the party star. And with the club’s top beauty Yu-mi glued to my side, yapping away, it felt like my own private tavern—no envy needed.
As the mood peaked, sunbaes spilled college tales and club legends nonstop.
“Man, I never knew Mincheol sunbae had it in him to be that devoted.”
“Be bold to bag a babe, right? Chicks in her department swarm her, but Mincheol hyung earned it.”
“Yeah, handsome. Athletic too.”
I perked up at Yu-mi’s name mid-pour.
“You see that? Heart of flowers in the club room? And that massive Yu-mi photo on the wall?”
“Pfft, saw it? I helped make it. Got some credit for those two dating.”
“Bullshit. But did that win her over right away? She said ‘hate that crap’ and bounced.”
“All that devotion piled up till she caved. My assist counts.”
“Wow, but Yu-mi’s tough. Rejected him a full year, acting all high and mighty. Mincheol could snag any girl—smart, ripped.”
From the chatter, Yu-mi’s backstory painted itself clear. Mincheol sunbae, a 20th class intake, one year her senior. Outgoing type juggling basketball and travel clubs, never skimping workouts—broad shoulders, tall frame. His pickup games looked pro-level. He skipped this trip for personal stuff, but I’d seen him fawning cutely over Yu-mi in the club room plenty. Knew they were a couple early on. Perfect match: hot couple, fit couple.
The boozers even touched on it.
“Mincheol’s gym used to be near campus. We hit it together. Then a year ago, he switches to Yu-mi’s morning spot. Thought nothing of it—till I learned it’s an hour subway ride. Knew she commuted far, but not that gym.”
“Heard that. Up at dawn, subway at 6 a.m. to her hood’s gym, workout, back to school. Fuck, made me respect the guy. That’s the price for Yu-mi, huh? Puhaha.”
“Remember? That creepy old sunbae stalking her department came to our club. When we were rising to second-years. 18th intake?”
“Yeah. Freshly discharged Mincheol spots Yu-mi, grabs the perv by the collar, yeets him—like some justice knight. Haha.”
Yu-mi’s real-life tales made killer drinking snacks. She seemed out cold beside me, ears not catching it—which was a relief.
Buzzed and bold, I chimed in shamelessly.
“Sunbaes... Yu-mi sunbae must’ve been super popular.”
“Huh? Seonghwan? Hey, cut the ‘sunbae’ here. We’re same age. Just ‘ya’ in spots like this. Cool?”
“Uh... feels weird...”
“Nah, it’s fine. Oh, and Yu-mi? Yeah, popular. Even knowing she’s with Mincheol, guys still eyed her.”
“Right, saw her department sports fest once. You miss her in training gear? Clings like second skin... Yo, Yu-mi asleep?”
“Nah, passed out. It’s fine.”
“Anyway, whoa... fuck, thought just big tits, but that ass... Anyway, more dudes chased after that.”
“Hoo...”
Eyes don’t lie. Striking features, rare beauty, body beyond imagination—stirred plenty hearts. Plus her bold, refreshing vibe sealed it.
“What? Seonghwan, you too...? Crushing on Yu-mi?”
Suddenly targeted, I panicked, then spilled honestly.
“Honestly, Yu-mi sunbae’s pretty... but I’m... crushing on someone now...”
“Whoa! Who? Club? School?”
“Nah. Sigh... just this noona I know. Lived next door since we were kids.”
“Ooh, next-door noona.”
Right then—as my gripe mixed with the sunbaes’ cheers—Yu-mi’s eyes snapped open. She slung her arm around my neck, headlocking me into drunken rant.
“Whaaat’d you saaaay? Huh? You little shit... noona’s riiiight heeere...”
“Guh! Neck! Hurts! Ugh. Uuugh. C-Can’t... breaaathe... guh!”
But she cranked harder, smashing my face into her chest. Staring down at me buried there, she smirked.
“You and your noona bullshit... cute little punk... tryna run already...”
Choking, catching the sunbaes’ voices, I blacked out.
“Yo... tell Mincheol hyung... and we’re dead, right?”
“Duh... Why’s Yu-mi so obsessed with headlocking Seonghwan? Doesn’t pull that on other dongsaengs or newbies.”
“Seonghwan’s got that vibe—makes you wanna watch out for him outta nowhere. Girls feel that too?”
They bantered on, eyes landing on Yu-mi pinning my collapsed, breathless form, tormenting me full-body.
“...Jealous?”
“......Fuckin’ losing.”
