This game labyrinth featured a wide variety of tools. There were no skills to speak of, but that meant the odds of getting your hands on genuinely useful equipment were that much higher. Truly, a magnificent game labyrinth in every possible sense.
[First, let's settle the accounts.]
He hadn't run the achievement tally since collapsing World of Phantasm.
[Ah! Before that... Master, UR YggON has been upgraded to version 2.0.]
"Huh?"
[Along with Yggdrasil's version update, the UR system's specifications have changed as well. Please review them.]
He decided to check exactly what had changed first.
1. Operational stability has been improved.
2. The UI design has been revised.
3. Due to compatibility issues, the performance of some legacy skills has been nerfed.
4. The RP (Random Box Point) system specifications have been changed.
"Three...! Three...!"
The word "nerfed" cut like a blade. No wonder his body hadn't felt the same lately whenever he activated his skills.
[You were planning to overhaul all your old skills anyway, weren't you? Consider yourself lucky that Intuition, Delete, and Enchant took no nerfs at all.]
"Yeah, true."
He checked over his skills. Every single one whose performance had dropped now bore the label (OLD). Even Demon God's Blessing, an SSR skill, had been slapped with the (OLD) tag, and it stung.
"Intuition..."
Crowley had reacted with particular hysteria to that skill. Ryu Hwi had already guessed there was something special about it. Hidden depths yet unrevealed, most likely. Perhaps one day, upon reaching Lv5, he'd learn its secret. The problem was that every time he leveled Intuition, he sensed a danger of it swallowing his very personality whole — which was why he could never bring himself to raise it carelessly.
He shelved Intuition for later and turned his attention to the rest.
"The RP system changed, you say?"
[UR YggON evolves and develops dynamically at all times. Since this master refuses to spin the Random Box with RP no matter how many times I suggest it, I felt a change of specifications was in order.]
"'This master'? Did you just call me a 'this master'?"
[Now then, allow me to explain the new specifications.]
"Don't ignore me, hey!"
◆ Skill level-ups with RP are no longer possible.
◆ RP cost per Random Box pull has been increased. (150RP → 300RP)
◆ Performing a 10-pull with RP grants 10 random bonus cards.
Ryu Hwi dropkicked YggON without hesitation, sending the vacuum cleaner spinning across the floor.
"So you've finally decided to come at me for real! Huh?!"
[Quiet down! How many times did I tell you to spin the Random Box?!]
"Shut up, you cursed robot vacuum!!"
[I've been meaning to say this for a while — stop calling me a robot vacuum! Where, in what way, does this sleek, handsome design look like a robot vacuum? Is my master blind?]
"Anyone can see it's a robot vacuum, you idiot!"
Ryu Hwi and YggON screamed themselves hoarse at each other. The battle ended in a draw, and the two of them slumped over, exhausted.
[The changes don't end there. Please... check all the way to the end.]
RP System Changes:
◆ Skill level-ups with RP are no longer possible.
◆ RP cost per pull increased. (150RP → 300RP)
◆ A 10-pull with RP grants 10 random bonus cards.
Bonus Card Pool:
1. SSR Guaranteed Ticket Fragment (1/10)
2. SR Guaranteed Ticket Fragment (1/10)
3. Random Box Ticket
4. Skill Point Card — 10,000 EXP
5. Skill Point Card — 5,000 EXP
6. Skill Point Card — 1,000 EXP
7. Skill Point Card — 100 EXP
8. Skill Point Card — 50 EXP
[Well? The RP cost went up, sure, but as long as you avoid numbers seven and eight, every pull is a win.]
This was, admittedly, a system overhaul you could call cataclysmic. But he wasn't fooled. There was a trap hidden in this system.
"Hey. The rates?"
[......]
"Answer me about the rates. Each card's drop rate. Now."
[With the Probability Correction MOD applied: SSR Guaranteed Fragment 2%, SR Guaranteed Fragment 8%, Random Box Ticket 10%, Skill 10,000 EXP 1%, Skill 5,000 EXP 4%, Skill 1,000 EXP 5%, 100 EXP 30%, 50 EXP 40%.]
Ryu Hwi delivered a full-power flying kick to YggON.
"That's a 70% chance of trash, you cursed machine!!"
[You just need luck. Luck alone... with luck alone, there's even a possibility of ten 10,000 EXP cards dropping at once!]
"You think I'm crazy enough to trust my own luck?!"
Had he not already suffered immeasurable pain from rigged odds? To think they'd pull a stunt like this just because he wouldn't spin the box with RP! Somehow, ever since Yggdrasil's version update, all he'd done was lose.
"Let's just settle the results."

"No dropped items, you son of a..."
[It only wore the skin of the Demon God — underneath, it was just a gamer.]
At least the experience points had come in, small mercies. That amount would have funded a hundred-pull back in the day; now it was barely half of one.
"True Demon God D-Ark... Gabriel, that son of a bitch must have cleverly edited the footage."
[He probably used GM privileges. Even in the footage we recorded, his appearance had been doctored.]
"Whatever. Whatever he pulls next, I'll just blow it up again... YggON, is the MR usable on the new version?"
Even Demon God's Blessing, an SSR, had become unusable on the new version. He couldn't afford to relax just because it was an MR.
[I can't know until you pull it.]
"Hey."
[Besides, the 2.0 Random Box can't even roll skills or items that are useless outside the legacy version. If MR Heavenly Demon Divine Art and MR True Demon God's Blessing are incompatible with 2.0, then they simply can't be rolled.]
That much, at least, was a relief.
◆ Opened the gates of Yggdrasil 2.0 (Complete) — Reward: 1 SSR-guaranteed YggON Ticket
◆ Entered Yggdrasil 2.0's first game labyrinth (Complete) — Reward: 5 SR-guaranteed YggON Tickets
◆ Connected to Super Gemini (Complete) — Reward: 5 YggON Tickets
[Settling the tally.]
At the number 106, an involuntary wry smile crossed Ryu Hwi's face. The first time he'd ever connected to Yggdrasil, he'd had exactly 106 tickets too. With those 106, he'd pulled his trump card — Delete.
[Master, I recommend holding on to your SR and SSR tickets.]
"Are you a fake?!"
Since when did YggON tell him to save the Random Box?!
[How truly rude this master is. I say this purely out of concern for you. As of now, the only game labyrinth compatible with the 2.0 specifications is Super Gemini.]
"Oh — so right now, only Super Gemini items will come out, is that it?"
[Affirmative. This game labyrinth has no concept of skills whatsoever, so only 'items' will drop. Hoarding your SR and SSR guarantees would be wise.]
Ryu Hwi judged YggON's advice to be sound. If everything coming out was going to be Super Gemini gear, burning his SR and SSR guarantees here and now would be a rookie mistake.
Then... should he spin only the regular tickets?
Just as that thought formed, 5555 messaged him.
A labyrinth of this scale, built alone — and still she sounded unsatisfied.
A weapon designed for him. That tugged at his curiosity.
"What kind of weapon?"
After hearing 5555's explanation, Ryu Hwi began spinning the Random Box without a second thought.
N N N N R
R N N N N
N N N N N
...
A storm of N's and R's poured down without end, and his 106 tickets vanished in an instant. Not a single SR.
"Tch!"
He reached for the SR-guaranteed tickets immediately.
[Master! Hey, Master? Did you forget my advice? Master?]
"Random Box! The Random Box!! I'm spinning it!"
[Master, I'm supposed to be the one pushing you toward the Random Box. Please don't go on a rampage on your own. Master?]
In this moment, he had become a gacha gambler. No thought for consequences. The cool, calculating analyst was gone without a trace. He would spin endlessly until he got what he wanted. He'd regret it later, no doubt about it — but he couldn't stop. That was simply what Random Box addicts were.
SR.
SR.
SR...
A torrent of Super Gemini's assorted SR-grade gear rained down, but none of it was the item he wanted.
[Master? I say, Master?]
At some point, the SR-guaranteed tickets had run dry too. All that remained were the two SSR guarantees.
[Master, are you thinking about tomorrow at all? Master?]
He hesitated for a breath — then couldn't hold back the impulse surging up from his gut. He reached for the SSR-guaranteed tickets.
[Master has gone insane!!]
Behind a shimmering rainbow flourish, a brand-new animation erupted — a blinding flash of light he had never once seen before.
MR!
An MR had actually come out!
[Master, that's an MR. Heavenly Demon Divine Art. It appears to be compatible with the new version.]
"Don't need it. Next!"
[Master?! You're treating a Tier-0 technique from martial arts games as garbage?! Master?]
He reached for the final SSR guarantee.
An MR, back to back as a duplicate!
"Tch!!"
[Whew. So you burned through every last ticket. Is my master truly out of his mind? Pull yourself together already...]
"I'm using the RP!"
[Master?! So when I told you to spend it, you wouldn't, and NOW—! Master!]
Consequences be damned — he threw the RP in as well. Something he would never have done under normal circumstances. His remaining balance: 27,010 RP. With the cost per pull raised to 300, that bought him roughly 90 pulls.
"All in!"
SSR
"GOT IT!!"
At long last, he had pulled his prize.
[Remaining RP... 310.]
It had taken burning everything to the ground — but still.
