Tanking Goblins for Epic Glory
Goblins were the first monsters users encountered near beginner villages. With their childlike small stature and weak strength, they were foes a properly leveled player could handle one-on-one after just completing their job quest. Classified as the weakest of monsters, they were ironically also the most terrifying for newbies.
Though feeble, they were surprisingly agile, hunted in packs, and worst of all, their paralyzing poison darts forced victims to watch helplessly as they slowly died. Most players skipped goblin hunting altogether or partied up to deal with them.
But there was one reckless soul plunging solo into their midst.
"Whoa, this actually works."
Vulcan.
With godlike control honed from his veteran days? If he put his mind to it, nothing was impossible. His current stats plus Vulcan's once-legendary reflexes could dodge those incoming darts no problem.
But he didn't bother. Instead, he stood stock-still, staring in disbelief at the goblins attacking him.
0 Damage
(x3)
The goblins attacked in earnest, swinging longswords and daggers with murderous intent, some blowing darts from blowpipes at a distance. Dud dud dud.
But nothing happened.
His armor had 50% reduced defense like his weapons, but fully geared in level 100+ plate, goblin blades and darts simply bounced off harmlessly.
Zero damage. They hit, but dealt nothing—no need to block or dodge. Pure gear power in action.
"Hold on, if it's like this... yeah, this could work."
He could sweep them effortlessly with lazy swings, no fancy control needed. But Vulcan pondered, standing defenseless, waiting.
Right on cue. Earned by taking 50+ hits without healing—must take hits within 3 seconds, no recovery skills or items except base regen. Normally farmed on weak mobs with full regen gear.
Tricky too: too big a level gap blocks it.
"Freebies."
Easier than breathing for Vulcan. Past Sandbag to 100-hit Tenacity in seconds. Still zero damage—no paralysis either.
"Let's push it!"
No counterattack yet. He tanked, scanning farther out. Goblins hit fast—perfect for higher titles.
"People are the issue."
100, 200, 300 hits... Anxiety crept in. Weak attacks barely scratched durability, but other users might spot him, "help," and reset the count.
So he switched tactics.
Dragon Eye detecting targets.
Dragon Eye. The skill that spotted veins, weaknesses, quest items—now highlighting users.
"Perfect. This way!"
Bright lights marked players. Dodging their paths, he lured the goblin pack deeper into the forest.
500 hits for Unique upgrade.
A title bestowed upon those who never yield to any peril. Their iron will and vitality deserve praise.
Effects:
• Defense +10%
• All regen +10%
• When HP hits 0, recover to 1 HP (1 day cooldown)
• Invincible for 3s after trigger
"...Nailed it."
1,000 straight hits. Epic Indomitable secured.
A title popularized by zombie/cockroach survivor Akan, but even after methods leaked, few claimed it.
"What kinda freak farms that in open fields?"
Easy in PC games, hell in VR. 1,000 hits taxed HP, defense, durability. Regen armor was leather—fragile. Metal plate lacked regen or had piddly amounts.
Swapping mid-fight? VR meant manual equip changes—gaps left you exposed. Even tanks stopped at Rare Tenacity.
Vulcan? No swaps, no regen. Beginner-zone weaklings + transcendent gear. Durability barely budged.
-Tch, tough bastard.
"Thanks! That's high praise in our line of work!"
Grinning at Tud's tsundere compliment, Vulcan moved on.
"Now, painless end for you!"
One-shots everywhere. His Berserker longsword, as overpowering as his defense, zeroed goblin HP on grazes. Panicked runners? His agility said no.
Levels soared. Goblin EXP was meh, but low level + pack of twenty = two quick dings.
"Hm?"
Kyyyaaaaah—!!
As the last goblin fell, a eerie wail pierced his ears.
"This triggers?"
Wailing spirits from dead goblins. Low chance despite no shaman—tribal accessories and soul links mimicked it.
"Kyahaha!!!"
A new goblin burst from thin air. Goblin Warrior—hidden boss.
"Blessed char?"
Vulcan muttered blankly. Lucky bastard. Once luckless, grinding effort; now, post-Tud possession? Fortune smiled.
"Hm?"
A faint glow on the Goblin Warrior. Golden?
Weak spot? Chest—not quite heart. Quest mob? Yeah, tied to Regon Village hidden quest, but he hadn't taken it.
"Kiyoyot!!"
Whatever. Kill first.
"Beat it and see!"
He charged. Faster than regulars, it lunged—but ex-Rank 1 reflexes prevailed. Watched the thigh stab, foot-kicked the flat to redirect, spun like a top.
Centrifugal slash severed its nape.
Level 40+ top-tier beginner boss. Gear power? One-shot city.
"Whoa?"
Clang.
And jackpot drop.

Rare necklace with Unique-tier options. 10% bonus scary, but pack scaling made it raid/war/mass-hunt godsend. No equip restrictions.
"Damn... why this?!"
Winner-only bind on acquire. Unsellable. Vulcan scowled despite Rare haul.
"Wait..."
His face shifted. Bound item aside, something clicked.
That glow... not weakness or quest?
Golden light on it, Rare's color goldish-yellow. Wait, maybe it flagged Rare holders?
"Nah, no way."
-Muttering to yourself? Grab loot and head to town.
Absurd. Skill detecting item grades? Near cheat/hack. Even Legendary class couldn't.
"Hey, can I hunt a bit more before heading back? Gotta check something..."
He denied it, but hope lingered. True? Farm Rares like peanuts—no more money woes.
Nose twitched, mouth watered. Scout the woods more.
-Shut it. Move!
Pang! Pang!!
Tud stomped, bonking his head. Vulcan reluctantly retreated to town, consoled that Uncommons were rare here anyway. Truth would out soon. If levels started at Rare detection—who knew? But yeah.
