Jackpot! What a Total Lottery Win.
Vulcan returned to the village after his near-maniacal escapades, deposited the lowest-grade iron ore in the warehouse, and set out again with a lighter load.
Ignoring whether other users avoided him or not, he gripped his axe and gathered lumber. Along his route, he crammed his inventory full of herbs and fur bundles whenever he could.
Luckily, he'd boosted his Strength stat quite a bit while mining the iron ore, and the fur bundles and herbs were light despite being hard to find. Of course, for Vulcan with his Dragon Eye, finding them was a breeze.
Thanks to that, he easily collected over three times the required amount of lumber, herbs, and fur bundles. In the process, he even raised his Agility, Intelligence, and Wisdom stats a little alongside Strength and Stamina.
Now, only two things remained: raising Fire Resistance F proficiency to 10% and hitting level 30.
'Fire Resistance, huh.'
- Huh? Where are you going? The smithy is that way.
Raising Fire Resistance was simple: prolonged exposure to heat or enduring it. Naturally, as the skill's rank increased, the heat intensity and duration required grew harsher.
Users typically grinded it in deserts or volcanoes while questing, and Tud's initial suggestion was similar—stand by the forge in the smithy, since blacksmiths needed fire resistance anyway. A campfire worked too, but the forge was best overall.
"Got some stuff to buy."
But Vulcan veered off in a random direction. Tud's method was solid, but time was short. It'd take a full day otherwise.
'Heartbreaking, but I can't pass up this chance.'
The Tempering quest timer and Novice Luck buff still had over two days left. He'd already met nearly all success conditions, so once he maxed Fire Resistance F, he could hunt, level fast, and finish.
But Vulcan had no such plan. Sure, he'd exceeded goals, but action stats could still rise.
'Level 30 via mining only. If time allows.'
Of course, he couldn't fail the quest, so timing mattered. But ideally, he'd hit 30 purely through gathering and wrap up Tempering.
'No other way to cover weak combat skills.'
Max action stats to prep for later. But first, accelerate Fire Resistance F.
To that end, Vulcan gritted his teeth and headed to the Mage Guild. He shelled out precious gold for items.
"H-here……."
"Thank you for your business, customer."
His hand trembled paying, but the NPC snatched the coin pouch with rough hands.
Selling gathered ore would offset some, but these pricey one-use items twisted his guts.
"Damn. 10 silver for a scrap of paper."
- What the hell are you thinking? Arson?
"Ugh, don't even joke. Guards would chase me down."
Even Tud eyed him suspiciously. He'd bought magic scrolls, health potions, and magic bandages: Resist Fire Scroll for temporary fire resistance and Fire Wall Scroll for a wall of flames. Was he planning to torch the forest?
Dragon logic, sure, but users would tank reputation and get hunted by guards, locking them out of town.
Instead, a simpler, surer way.
"First, lay this out……."
In a secluded spot, Vulcan pulled firewood from inventory and lined it up. Axe-split logs made free firewood.
- ……So he really is a pervert.
Then he stripped. Tud grimaced and backed away, but Vulcan ignored him.
"Fire Wall."
Down to underwear covering essentials—non-removable, infinite durability to thwart pervs.
Full gear would've just wasted durability.
"Resist Fire."
- What?!
Resist Fire
Sssizzle!!!
Vulcan used the temporary fire resistance scroll and leaped into the flame wall. Skin burned, flesh sizzled amid acrid smoke, but he clenched teeth and endured.
Focusing on HP, he bandaged to heal before zero, chugged potions when regen lagged, maintaining life.
Money vanishing per bandage and potion hurt worse than burns.
Fire Resistance F proficiency has increased by 0.1%.
Fire Resistance F proficiency has increased by 0.3%.
Fire Resistance F proficiency has increased by 0.2%.
But results were solid. Proficiency skyrocketed upon entry. 0.1-0.3% per tick, but pennies made mountains—skill bar visibly climbed.
- ……Crazy bastard.
"Heh! Burns nice, burns real good!"
Vulcan didn't stop. Standing still hurt; more movement sped gains.
Intelligence has increased by 1.
Wisdom has increased by 1.
Action stats too. Magical flames? Endured pain? Intelligence and Wisdom rose; Vulcan thrashed wildly.
He danced madly in the fire, dashing the long Fire Wall range, flailing limbs.
5. Fire Resistance F Proficiency: 30.4% / 10%
You have perfectly met the quest success conditions.
By the time rumors spread of another village pervert, Vulcan succeeded.
Firewood extended Fire Wall slightly; after exhausting scrolls, he hopped burning piles, rocketing proficiency over 30%.
One Tempering condition left: level 30.
6. Level 30 Achieved: 30 / 30
You have met the quest success conditions.
You have completed the job quest 'Tempering'.
And Vulcan hit 30 purely on mining EXP—just shy of the 3-day Tempering limit.
'Tch, auto-complete.'
Tripling level goals was impossible anyway, but manual complete could've squeezed one more action stat.
"Status window."
| Human | Male | Lv. 30 | Incarnation of Tud (Legendary) | HP 3,100/3,100 | MP 850/850 | Weight 127/400 | Stat Points: 87 | Status: Normal
'Insane.'
Regret aside, action stats maxed—no more gains. But 3 days' extras were mind-blowing.
'Like gaining 40 levels worth?'
120 total points sans level-up allocations—40 levels' worth. Others stopped at modest gains; this was 30+ levels ahead, even vs hardcore grinders.
- ……What the hell are you?
Even Tud, who'd watched, looked stunned. As a dragon, he expected human Vulcan to need grit for his teachings—but not this perfect, not this crazy.
"Just worked hard."
Vulcan grinned, eyes darting. Chat mattered, but post-quest messages popped.
You have perfectly exceeded the quest success conditions.
The highest level of additional rewards will be granted.
◈ A title for those with iron-like body and mind. No hardship will fell you.
◈ Effects: Stamina consumption -30%. High resistance to all mental status effects. Mental +50.
'Whoa.'
Tripling goals netted a Unique title. Rare feats granted special powers; starting Unique was huge, packed with gems.
'Stamina cut and mental resist? Perfect.'
For Legendary production class grind, invaluable. Mental defense rare even in gear, hunting gold.
Smile inevitable—but next froze him.
Tud acknowledges you.
The Legendary Craftsman's abilities are inherited.
You have accomplished a legendary feat!
You have acquired the title 'Legend's Incarnation (Legendary)'.
◈ You are the legend itself. Prepared to write tales beyond legends.
◈ Effects: All stats +20%. All NPCs sense your uniqueness. Gain potential for all legends and myths. Additional stat boosts on acquiring legends/myths.
"……Myth?"
20% all-stats? Unheard. Rank 1 Epic job had 10% title barely. NPC favor rare too.
But 'myth' shocked. No Legends besides Vulcan; Myths? Zero clues, just rumors beyond Legend.
Yet this Legendary title mentioned—implied acquisition.
'Vague as hell.'
'Potential' unclear, but clear: non-Tud legends/myths possible, extra stats each.
'Maybe possible.'
Heart raced.
'Revenge on those bastards.'
Faces of betrayers who'd ruined him burned in mind. Eyes blazed.
You have completed the job quest.
Job skills will be granted.
"……What the hell is this?!"
Final message filled view. Revealing the true nature of his Legendary class, Incarnation of Tud.
