Thanks, Reflections, and Excuses
Hello. I am Purung Purureung, who wrote The Forbidden Brothel Owner in a Gender-Reversed Murim World.
The novel has reached its conclusion at the 100th chapter. If it weren't for you all reading my story to the end, I probably wouldn't have been able to finish it. The reason I could complete this work is all thanks to you.
This is my first work, so the writing is naive, as you can see from the text. The more I wrote, the more I realized my own shortcomings. Yet, because there were people who read my writing to the end, I was able to conclude it. Although it's a short story of only 100 chapters, it was possible because there were readers. Thank you for reading my writing, everyone.
This is the gratitude I wanted to express to you all. The following content is my personal reflections and excuses while serializing the story.
As you know, The Forbidden Brothel Owner in a Gender-Reversed Murim World mixes the genres of gender reversal and martial arts. But as I wrote the story, I felt that my understanding of both genres was lacking. Although I mixed two materials—gender reversal and martial arts—it seems I didn't satisfy either one. But if I think that this is the final product after many trials and errors, I realize my skill was quite lacking. The thought that I ruined a good material comes along as a bonus.
So, I think I will take a break from writing for a while. Because I felt that the fundamentals of the stories I want to write and the general characteristics of the genres are lacking for me. It seems the desire to write better stories is burning because I wrote unsatisfactory ones. I will devote myself to writing other genres and later will have time to create again on this material. The next work will probably be male-oriented romance fantasy or hunter stories.
And I can't forget about the characters... Honestly, I am 19 years old this year. So, when setting the ages of the characters, I think I set them too carelessly. And the initial age of Lee Hyun makes me regret not revising it now that I think about it. From now on, I will set the ages of the characters so as not to interfere with the immersion of the work.
Finally, as an excuse, from the next work, I will try not to have the serialization period shaken. Honestly, I didn't think that writing would consume so much time and challenged myself. Every time I had free time, I would plan the next chapter and sit at the keyboard, but 4 hours would pass in a blink. Even on days when I had flu, summer COVID, or other unimaginable personal issues, I had to give up even typing on the keyboard because my stamina was greatly depleted.
Since I learned about this problem from the first serialization, I will try not to let it happen from the next work. I felt strongly that I should stockpile as much as possible and start serialization. I walked with the firm intention to go straight, but looking back, it seems I was quite crooked. I thought I was going straight forward while walking, but... As I developed the story, there are stories I had to skip, too hastily progressed ones, stories I couldn't fully develop, and settings that I still regret. But I believe this experience will help me grow.
As I said earlier, I want to grow more. So, I hope you write your honest impressions. Even if it's harsh criticism, it's fine. Honest impressions are good no matter what. If you don't want your comments to be seen by others, please write a comment and delete it. Then, only I can check that comment.
Thank you very much for reading my work to the end, everyone. I love you all.
+ I will occasionally write extras or IFs as I think of them. Probably as bonus chapters.
++ If you have any questions, I will answer as kindly as possible!
