The Laundry Room Is Dangerous
The next morning, Logan headed toward the outer dormitory. It was the annex where Lady Isabel was staying. When he knocked, Isabel opened the door. Her hair was slightly disheveled, as if she had just woken up.
'She must be the type who's weak to sleep.'
Her face carried a languid expression, yet thanks to her seductive, captivating eyes, even that looked alluring.
“My lady, did you sleep well?”
“Thanks to you, Dean, I was able to sleep deeply for the first time in a long while.”
“It’s nothing special, but you mentioned wanting to try doing some chores. There’s a small laundry room behind the dormitory. Change your clothes and follow me.”
Behind the instructors’ quarters was indeed a small laundry room. It was where the work uniforms and training clothes used by the instructors were piled up.
“Please wash just the instructors’ clothes for now. Since it’s your first time, don’t overdo it.”
Isabel nodded.
“Yes, I can manage that much.”
Although Isabel nodded, she looked somewhat anxious as her hand touched the laundry tools.
“I’ll bring the work uniforms.”
Logan stopped by the storage room to fetch them. After gathering the uniforms and heading back to the laundry room—
Crash! Clang!
When he opened the door again, Isabel was sitting collapsed on the floor. A bucket lay overturned at her feet, water spreading everywhere. The thin dress she wore was already soaked through, clinging tightly to her body.
…She wasn’t wearing a bra. Her breasts were completely visible. The full outline of her large chest was clearly revealed, and her nipples stood out sharply through the wet fabric.
Logan’s gaze instinctively locked onto her chest. No man could look away from those massive, voluptuous peaks so lewdly outlined by the drenched cloth.
Only then did Isabel realize his stare.
“Ah…!”
She hurriedly covered her breasts with her arms. Her face flushed bright red, and even her voice trembled.
“I-I’m sorry…! I was trying to fill the bucket with water and… I slipped…”
“…Are you hurt anywhere?”
Still covering her chest, Isabel gave a small shake of her head. Her face burned with embarrassment and panic.
“No… I just spilled the water. I’m not hurt.”
“Let’s stop here for today. Go back to your quarters, wash up, and rest.”
He handed her a towel and added,
“I’ll think of something else for you tomorrow. The laundry room… seems a bit dangerous for you, my lady.”
Isabel hung her head low as she accepted the towel.
“…I’m truly sorry, Dean. Instead of being helpful, I only…”
“It’s fine.”
His calm voice soothed her.
“Don’t push yourself. Take it slow.”
Logan stepped ahead and looked outside as he spoke.
“Come. I’ll walk you back to your quarters.”
Isabel silently covered herself with the towel and followed him out. After confirming she had gone inside safely, Logan decided to make a round of the academy.
Since lunch was over, the cafeteria was busy with cleanup.
“Dean?”
Logan raised his hand lightly in greeting.
“Everything alright?”
“Yes, it’s good. The students are polite, and… ah, the increased meal portions have caused some ingredient shortages.”
“Talk to the administrative director and get more budget.”
After circling the kitchen, he headed toward the dormitories. The dormitory supervisor opened the door and came out.
“Dean? What brings you here?”
“Any problems with the dormitory?”
“Ah, no. Everyone’s doing well. But I heard the laundry room is quite outdated.”
Logan nodded.
“Let me know right away if anything unusual happens.”
Leaving the dormitory, he headed to the Magic Department. When he arrived, Molga was reviewing documents.
“Logan!”
“Molga, anything going on?”
Molga looked at him for a moment before nodding.
“…No… Did you come to see Bella?”
For a second he almost said ‘yes,’ but catching the look in her eyes, Logan barely managed to choose the right answer.
“I came to see you, to see Bella… and to take a look around the Magic Department too.”
The two went to the training room. Bella was practicing while holding a mana orb. When she looked up and saw Logan, her eyes widened.
“Dean…”
“Are you doing well?”
“Yes… Professor Molga teaches me very well.”
Bella asked carefully,
“If I keep up with the classes… can I stay here with my mom?”
Logan glanced at Molga. She nodded.
“Of course~ Work hard.”
Bella’s face brightened.
“Yes! I’ll do my best.”
Molga gently stroked Bella’s hair.
After chatting with Molga, he went to check the laundry rooms. He inspected each one’s condition before moving on to the next.
It happened just as Logan approached the door.
From inside came a loud bang followed by a sharp scream.
“Agh!”
Logan kicked the door open and burst in. In the center of the laundry room, a black iron washing tub lay overturned with a broken leg. Ella’s right arm was trapped beneath its edge. She was gritting her teeth, struggling desperately to pull it free.
“Ella!”
Logan rushed over and lifted the tub with one powerful motion. The heavy container rolled aside, spilling water everywhere. Ella clutched her arm and groaned.
“…Aah…”
Logan examined her arm. It was swollen, with clear pressure marks.
“Hold on just a little longer.”
His voice was low. He carefully lifted Ella onto his back. In that moment, her upper body pressed tightly against him. The front of his work uniform was already soaked, but he could feel the warmth and softness of her breasts through it. Ella’s trembling breath brushed against his ear.
“…I’m sorry, Dean… your clothes got wet…”
She whispered in a small, flustered voice.
Logan said nothing and hurried toward the infirmary.
A short while later, the healer finished the treatment and stood up.
“Fortunately, there’s no fracture. However, there were several micro-tears, which I’ve treated. Keep the splint on for about a week. It should heal cleanly after that.”
Logan nodded. That was a relief. A fracture would have taken much longer.
With the splint secured, Ella lay there with a pale face. Once the healer left, she opened her mouth softly.
“…I’m sorry, Dean.”
Her voice shook.
“…What are you sorry for?”
Logan’s tone was lower and gentler than usual.
“It’s because the facilities are old. It’s my fault for not paying attention. I’m sorry.”
Ella shook her head. Tears welled up slightly in her eyes.
“No… You’ve already done so much for us. For Layman… and for me…”
She took a deep breath.
“An injury like this… is nothing.”
When Ella tried to sit up, a stabbing pain made her face freeze.
“Your body must have been quite shocked, so it’s best to stay lying down and rest today. And don’t worry about your pay. I’ll make sure it’s all covered. In fact, I should give you some time off.”
Ella looked up at Logan. Her eyes held many emotions—gratitude, guilt, and a touch of tenderness…
“…Thank you, Dean.”
She whispered,
“Really… I’m always so grateful.”
Logan nodded. He smiled at her, then left the infirmary.
In the hallway leading to the communal shower room, exhausted students from training were gathering for the evening. Fifth-year student Vent Deiran and a few of his classmates were coming out after washing first when they ran into sixth-year Arnold Torot and his group at the entrance.
The hallway instantly froze with cold hostility.
Vent spoke first.
“I heard the land tax went up again lately. Tastes good, doesn’t it, Torot?”
Arnold let out a scoffing laugh and shot back immediately.
“You know the money collected from stolen land is the sweetest, right?”
The two families had been locked in a territorial dispute for five years, repeatedly seizing and losing land from each other. While it hadn’t reached the level of mortal enemies, their relationship had soured deeply with lingering resentment.
“If you can’t even protect it, why don’t you just hand it over to us?”
“Was it some other family that ran away like a dog with its tail on fire?”
Unable to hold back, Vent shoved Arnold’s shoulder. Arnold lost his temper and grabbed Vent by the collar. The surrounding students began shouting, “Don’t fight!” “Stop them, stop them!” trying to pull the two apart, but they had already started throwing punches.
Logan, passing by, heard the commotion and entered.
“…What the hell is this mess!! Everyone down on the floor, now!!”
Logan’s voice boomed like thunder, instantly silencing all the noise. The students around them immediately dropped into push-up position. Vent and Arnold also froze, glaring at each other.
'The relationship between the Deiran and Torot families is bad.'
Logan quickly pieced together why they were fighting in his head.
“Both of you, come to the sparring arena.”
The area around the sparring arena was already filling up with fifth- and sixth-year students who had heard the rumor, along with instructors who had rushed over.
“The rules are simple. The first to kneel or surrender loses. The loser must apologize to the winner.”
The duel ended with fifth-year Vent Deiran skillfully deflecting sixth-year Arnold Torot’s sword and emerging victorious. Arnold, biting his lip, bowed his head to Vent Deiran.
“I’m sorry…”
Once the two had calmed down somewhat, Logan stepped forward and spoke.
“You two have just resolved your families’ personal grudges through that spar. However, you must pay the price for disturbing the academy’s order.”
Logan spoke loudly enough for everyone around to hear.
“In this month’s end-of-month evaluation, both Vent Deiran and Arnold Torot will receive a fifteen-point deduction.”
It was essentially a notice of failure for the evaluation. For two students in the middle ranks, failing to exceed ninety points when even the top five in each class struggled to do so was an impossible score to recover from.
“Any objections?”
Both answered in loud voices.
“None!”
“Then, dismissed. Instructors, gather in the auditorium.”
At the order to disperse, the students quickly vanished from the auditorium. Logan slammed his foot down with a bang and exploded in anger.
“Hey, you bastards.”
The air froze in an instant. Logan glared at each instructor’s face one by one as he spat out his words.
“How many times have I told you? Don’t let the different years overlap in the cafeteria, bathhouse, or lounge times. Yet this kind of situation happens? I go over there and it’s a damn spectacle—where the hell were you guys? What the fuck, where were you stuffing your faces?!”
The instructors kept their heads bowed and couldn’t say a word.
“One more time—if something like this happens again, you instructors will be the ones getting disciplined. Understood?”
“…Understood!”
Logan observed their attitudes for a moment, then waved his hand.
“Get out.”
The moment he left the auditorium, Logan’s mind was a mess. Irritation surged through him, making his steps feel heavy.
'For now, I’ll go to the dean’s office, handle some work, and get some sleep.'
As soon as he opened the door to the dean’s office and entered, he sat down at his desk. He flipped through a few documents, but he couldn’t focus. The irritation wouldn’t fade, so he began tapping his fingers on the desk.
Knock knock.
A cautious knock sounded.
'Who is it? Ella? Molga?'
He reached out and pressed the lock button on his desk.
Click.
The lock released, and the door opened carefully. The person who entered was neither Ella nor Molga—it was Isabel. She was wearing a white blouse and a navy long skirt.
Logan took a deep breath and spoke in the calmest voice he could manage.
“…Lady Isabel? What brings you here at this late hour?”
Isabel closed the door cautiously and approached.
“I heard there was a commotion near the auditorium earlier… Are you alright, Dean?”
“It’s nothing serious. Just some noise over student discipline. Don’t worry about it and go rest. I’ll finish some work and sleep too.”
“But… you don’t look well at all.”
Instead of leaving, Isabel walked around to the side of the desk. Before Logan could say anything, she positioned herself behind his chair.
“My ex-husband… whenever he got sensitive from territory matters, he liked it when I did this for him.”
“My lady, I’m fine. There’s no need…”
“Just stay still for a moment.”
Her hands rested on his shoulders. She began massaging them gently, though a bit clumsily. In truth, it didn’t feel particularly relieving. But the faint scent of her skin and soap drifting from behind him, the sincerity of her coming to see him late at night to ease his anger and working so hard with her delicate hands—it was enough to dull the sharp edges of his nerves little by little.
Logan closed his eyes and enjoyed her awkward touch.
'Well… it’s not bad.'
Pretending it felt quite good, he said,
“That feels nice. Thank you, my lady.”
Isabel smiled faintly and stopped her hands.
“I hope it helped even a little. Then… rest well, Dean.”
She quietly closed the door and left. Logan leaned back in his chair. The irritation had subsided somewhat.
'Where should I have Lady Isabel work tomorrow? The laundry room is out… Maybe an assistant in the office? Or organizing the library?'
While pondering like that, he opened the documents again.
