Kim Jin-seo Told Me to Go Home
Kim Jin-seo had told me to go home. She said she had something urgent to discuss with Go Jun-min. But I wasn't the type to take that at face value. I was hiding in a nearby park, eavesdropping on their conversation.
I'd even overheard what sounded like a confession from Go Jun-min when it happened.
Do Seon-woo! You're nearby. Satan Cult—it's that bastard!
There was no leisure in his tone. "That guy" meant the Satan Cult infiltrator hiding in Florence Academy's Charity Class.
Corner! Bench by the unlit streetlamp!
Following Legba's guidance, I turned my gaze. Corner, bench by the unlit streetlamp. There was a figure sitting there. Not particularly large build, face hidden by a hat and mask. In front of him was a magic circle drawn in black substance.
A black magic circle.
Chase him. He's running!
The Satanist had spotted me. He bolted away at full speed. His running was insanely fast. Track athlete? I pushed the silly question aside and gave chase.
"Bosu!"
Tired. Need sacrifice!
A searing pain ripped through my body like it was being torn apart. I felt the boiling surge of heightened physical power, but it wasn't as strong as before. Probably because Bosu was fatigued. Damn it—if only there was an altar! Pointless regret. I plunged through bushes, vaulted fences, tracking the Satanist. He slithered away like an eel, zigzagging everywhere.
"Huff. Huff. Huff."
Crack, crunch—! Harsh breaths. The sound of twigs and dry leaves crunching underfoot. Nothing else filled the air.
We carried on this nail-biting chase for several minutes. Then we hit the central tree-lined path in the park. Lots of trees, few streetlamps—darker than anywhere else.
Bang!
A gunshot-like sound rang out. The Satanist leaping. He vaulted onto a tree and started swinging between branches to escape. Insanely fast. No way I could catch him like this. Like a dog chasing a chicken only to stare at the roof—I was exactly that dog.
I decided to use Bosu's superhuman strength.
Grind. I clenched my teeth, contracting my body as much as possible. Power into my thighs, then abs, maximizing my body's elasticity. The stance for a standing long jump.
Thud—!
A dull sound, and my body launched into the air. Mid-flight, I scanned quickly and spotted the black-clad bastard. I twisted my body in midair, adjusting my landing toward him. Thanks to Bosu's enhanced motor nerves, my body obeyed perfectly. The distance closed: 5m, 3m, 1m. Within arm's reach. I can grab him. Just reach out—
"Huh?"
But my hand wouldn't extend.
Crunch—!
Grass tore, branches snapped. My outstretched hand missed the Satanist, clutching only an innocent tree branch. The impact knocked me out briefly. When I came to, I saw the Satanist looking down at me from the tree.
"Pfft."
He mocked me and resumed his escape. Mocking me? I wanted to snap his neck right then. But I'd twisted my ankle on landing—chasing further was impossible.
Snap!
Still, I couldn't just stand there. I snapped the branch in half, sharpening the end. Crude, but it looked like a spear. By the way, Bosu was a javelin soldier in life. Masterful with throws.
I hurled the spear using Bosu's power.
Thwack!
It hit—or grazed, really. The spear skimmed his head, tearing his hood and revealing his back. Short hair, tattoo on the nape: a goat tattoo.
Unfortunately, the Satanist got
