"...I understand."
The Saintess answered quietly, her face flushed red. With her head bowed, her expression couldn't be seen. But judging by how her fingers clutching her white skirt were trembling with tension, she must have been deeply ashamed.
Sigh. The Knight Commander swallowed a sigh, satisfied at least that he'd gotten an affirmative answer.
"Th-those insolent wretches! How dare they treat the Saintess like-!"
"High Priest, do not open the carriage window."
The Knight Commander shut Paolo's window as he was about to leap out in fury.
"Let's depart immediately! Move out!"
They left Valdina in frantic haste, as if being chased. None remained of the dignified bearing they'd displayed when entering the Royal Castle.
"Your Highness, the Princess."
The reliable voice of Neril reached Medeia as she approached. Medeia stood at the spire, watching the Holy Kingdom's carriage depart.
We'll be seeing each other again soon, you and I.
Was it déjà vu? Somehow she instinctively knew—Rachel wouldn't give up like this.
Medeia didn't look away until the carriage disappeared beyond the horizon.
Like a beast of prey watching its quarry.
