Chapter Title: Secrets of Planet Debenna (2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
No Wonder No One Made It Back Alive with a Freak Like That Lurking Around
A machine spider that twists spacetime to hunt its prey...
I've encountered all sorts of anomalies, but this one's on another level.
How the hell did a newbie take down a monster like that?
If it were me, the moment I realized the timeline was being warped, I'd freeze up and get iced without doing a damn thing.
Not only did this guy stay cool and figure out a counter in that mess, but the second that spider bastard showed up, he went straight for beating it to a pulp?
Man, this is some next-level talent lololol
Newbie's just born with anomaly exploration talent lmao. No other way to explain it.
Supreme Newbie
Fights like a beast and has insane judgment too lmaoooo
At this point, that spider that charged at Newbie is the real idiot lmao
— Ether Explorer: For real lol. Should've sensed the danger when he figured out the counter. Dumbass.
But why was just standing still the counter? Usually in those cases, waiting around gets you fucked, right?
— Space Engineer: Probably because the spider's hunting method put insane strain on the simulator.
— Cleaning Specialist: Maybe 'cause I'm from a magic civ, but I don't get it... Can you explain simpler?
— Space Engineer: OK OK, I'll write a post about it.
Analyzed the Time Spider
First off, one thing you all need to know before we start.
The time spider manipulates spacetime inside the simulation, not real spacetime.
Even the Ancients don't have spacetime manipulation tech—that's the consensus. No way trash like Debenna has it.
Probably wrote a scenario for the simulation first, then forced it to run that script.
But here's the interesting part.
If simulation NPCs can arbitrarily change the scenario, that means NPCs can rewrite the sim's code.
Smart folks probably just figured out why standing still was the counter.
Think of the simulation as a game.
Every game advances to the next scenario when the player triggers it.
The time spider exploited this by prepping a scenario where it wins, then forcing the player to pull the trigger.
But Newbie caught on and just sat his ass down.
Put the spider in a tough spot.
Why? This method requires prepping another scenario as backup.
One computer, two programs running—overload.
If it ended quick, fine.
But Newbie dragged it out for nearly a month.
Computer hit its limit, desperate NPC had no choice but to attack recklessly.
But the spider didn't know one key fact.
Newbie's a monster in close-quarters combat.
Wrong opponent, spider got smashed and torn apart lololol
Whoa, now I get it.
— Cleaning Specialist: Newbie's smarter than I thought? How'd he figure it out?????
— (OP) Space Engineer: Galaxy's Destroyer, the One with Might and Mind, Great Newb
Newbie's trying to steal the brain image too now? Greedy bastard.
Newbie, can't I just buy you with money? I want you.
— Ragna Rothburg: Mine. Get lost, bitch.
— Behedia Federation: Get in line.
The views were even higher than usual, probably because I'd just come back after a month.
Meaning a ton of attention.
Anyway, that Space Engineer guy's seriously smart.
Honestly, I just cleared it with an item, but...
I didn't bother saying that.
Explaining it would mean spilling about getting the consumable from Armband.
Right then, a new comment popped up.
?? Hold up, isn't the adventure this guy's tackling Eternal Struggle?
— Auto-Nickname 1582: Yeah, that's it. Chiltoom shows up as the galactic federation, warring with the Utrumaher or whatever.
— Void Traveler: Per this post, doesn't that mean the Utrumaher in the sim gained egos?
— Void Traveler: If that's the cause of the Debenna mass disappearance, maybe they're trying to break out of the sim?
The moment high-nick Void Traveler posted that...
The rowdy gallery went dead silent for a second.
Uh?
Uh...?
Gasp
Fuck, hold up.
Soon, the gallery folk were gripped by terror.
Fuck, We Gotta Blow Up That Planet
The second those war machine Utrumaher bastards show up, the galaxy's done for ffs
Drag every ship there NOW and orbital bombard the planet to dust
The moment those fuckers emerge, we're all dead!!!
Time for the Forum Admin to Declare Emergency Martial Law?
Clear didn't trigger even after killing the time spider, so something's still left.
Dunno what, but if it's Ancients-related, shouldn't the Forum Admin declare martial law and go full war footing?
Aaahhh!!! PTSD!!!
Sorry I was wrong I won't go to war again please Utrumaher spare me just once I'll be good from now on so please just once spare me
This guy's having another mental breakdown
If you made a promise, keep it. Why live the same as before without keeping any?
Nothing's changed since then, right? Still a piece of shit?
You need another lesson from the Ancients ^^
— (OP) Ragna Rothburg: Shut your traps, you xenophobe shits.
— Arkhor Refugee Shelter: No empty beds in our refugee camp because of you ^^ Please get justice'd by the Ancients one more time ^^
No clue why, but the so-called xenophobes in the gallery were deathly afraid of the Utrumaher.
What's with Utrumaher that they're freaking out more than with Chiltoom?
— Cleaning Specialist: Uh...
— Humanity's Guardian: Uh...
— Lasker Knight Order: Newbie doesn't need to know yet
— Auto-Nickname 1582: Come on, what is it? Tell me too
I asked the gallery folk, but for once, they clammed up on the info.
Don't pry too much into grown-up talk
— Ragna Rothburg: Newbie's just a baby
Even Ragna gave the same reaction.
What the hell happened to make them like this?
Right then, someone replied to me.
For now, just know Utrumaher's another Ancients race.
— SF Worldview Fanboy: Unlike the chill Chiltoom, they're hot-tempered and way more aggressive, and there were some bad incidents in the past.
At least SF Fanboy gave a bit more info.
But even he wouldn't say more.
Soon they dove into a heated debate.
About whether to declare martial law or not.
Terror-struck gallery folk losing their minds argued for immediate lockdown.
But the cautious side was just as strong.
While watching the debate, I started writing a post.
Everyone, Calm Down First
Exploration didn't fail or anything, no need to overreact already.
Plus, if it were easy for them to break out like you're worried, wouldn't they have done it ages ago?
Better to chill and wait a bit.
If exploration had failed, sure.
But it hasn't, so no need yet.
More than anything, exploration's going fine— if you guys swarm in and mess it up, that'd be worse.
Just trust me and hold off a little.
Looks like Facility 3's hiding something.
Let's check that first before deciding—not too late.
I agree. Killed the time spider whatever, so exploration's on track. We butt in, we might just screw it up.
This time, I agree with Cleaning Specialist. Everyone, trust Newbie and wait a bit more.
Fortunately, the gallery's reaction wasn't bad.
Starting with comments from the two with the most sway.
The rampaging gallery gradually returned to normal.
Hmm, yeah, makes sense. Debenna went down over a century ago. If they were coming, they'd have by now.
Newbie's clearing solo anyway, might as well just watch?
Newbie, the fate of the entire galaxy rests on your shoulders.
The terror-struck gallery folk regained their composure.
Instead of declaring martial law and intervening directly, they'd watch and wait.
Everything wrapped up nicely.
Glancing at the clock, bedtime had long passed.
I closed the gallery and pulled up the covers.
To head out exploring again tomorrow, I needed solid rest tonight.
As I shut my eyes to sleep...
《Notification!》[New comment added]
The alert woke me up.
Newbie, why are you so damn good with words?
— Ragna Rothburg: Fuck, wanna lock this bastard on my ship and make him mine forever.
Another high-nick saw Ragna's comment and replied.
Newbie, if someone jumps you from behind, think "it was bound to happen" lol
— Cleaning Specialist: Ragna'll do anything to get what he wants.
— Cleaning Specialist: Always check for battlecruisers tailing you when traveling lololol
Ragna was starting to scare me more than the anomalies.
