Chapter Title: Eunha, It's Your Landlord Sister
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Eunha, it's your landlord sister
Monsters have disappeared from the first floor.
Could that be related to me? I said I'm the owner of the first floor now.
It hadn't been long since I awakened my abilities, but all these weird things kept happening, leaving me puzzled.
"Um, you're talking about the monsters disappearing from the first floor, right...?"
"Ah, Eunha, hold on a sec?"
I was about to tell Awakens Then Leaves Gallery about it when her phone started buzzing nonstop.
Maybe because she was an officially recognized Awakener by the Association. She seemed incredibly busy during emergencies like this.
Soon, after taking calls from all over, she finally came back over to me and said,
"Sorry. I was going to go shopping for clothes with you, but stuff keeps coming up. Want me to drop you home and you can rest today?"
"Ah, sure. I'm fine. We can shop for clothes next time."
In the end, I swallowed my question. I could always check the Awakener Aspirant Gallery to see what had happened today anyway.
And so, I rode home in Awakens Then Leaves Gallery's car.
"I'll text you later, sis. Go wash up and relax. Got it?"
"Yes...!"
Once I got home, I barely managed to pull out the beef I'd grabbed and started preparing food for Juju and Blackie.
Luckily, while the bag had gotten dirtied on the floor earlier, the beef itself was clean.
First things first, let's grill the meat.
"The gas stove is too high..."
I dragged over a chair with effort and knelt on it to grill the beef.
Blackie and Juju devoured the meat like they loved it, and eventually flopped over on their backs like they were stuffed.
And the shower...
"I'll do it before bed. I'm wiped out."
Maybe because I'd moved around more than usual today, my body felt like dead weight on the floor.
I sprawled out face-down and pulled out my phone, immediately logging into the Awakener Aspirant Gallery.
I was curious about what had happened today.
"Yup, today's incident is up too."
The Awakener Aspirant Gallery folks were probably the most obsessed with Awakener news, right?
I started scrolling through the concept posts from the top, one by one.
Today's incident was similar.
Monsters suddenly appeared in the city.
But the way they showed up was different from usual.
Normally, monsters come out through the Tower entrance, which makes them easy to spot and deal with quickly.
This time, portals just spawned in mid-air, and monsters poured out from them.
And it happened simultaneously all over the world;;
So now, the Awakener Association is planning to pay top Awakeners to station them in major cities.
Right now, Awakeners are gathering under Association orders to figure out the cause, so wait for updates.
Oh, and Woo Jin-seong joined a meeting for the first time ever.
That alone tells you how unusual this is, right?
Didn't that Woo Jin-seong guy famously ignore the Association?
That means it's serious enough for even Woo Jin-seong to show up at the Association.
No more monsters on the first floor, right? Related to this?
Probably? All the monsters in cities today were goblins. Goblins only spawn in the Tutorial Tower and first floor. Weird if it's not related.
Then it's gotta be connected to that ranking #1 too;;
Awakeners are speculating the same, but that #1 hasn't shown their face at all, so hard to know;; Even more reclusive than Woo Jin-seong.
Checked out where monsters appeared today, and damn, it was scary;; Goblin corpses were brutal.
That's weird too. Normally in Towers, dead monsters drop loot like in games and vanish. But this time corpses stayed, so government's cleaning them up one by one.
A twinge of guilt hit me reading the comments.
"I totally told the gallery I'm #1! You're all the idiots for not believing me."
I pouted and typed a post.
I said it before too, why won't you believe me..
Ugh, enough with the nonsense.
For real;;;
Then explain what's going on right now;; What's up with the first floor owner and all this?
I don't know that either..
Ugh.
Awaken first, then talk.
I did awaken tho..
Sigh.
If you're real, just show up at the Association once and say something.
Should I??
LOL
Why laugh..
I was seriously frustrated.
Weird stuff kept happening to me, but I had no clue why.
The Status Window just spouted nonsense, and the system only gave notifications without any explanations.
"Ugh, fine. If you won't believe me, I won't say anything... Not that I know much anyway."
Couldn't someone just explain to me why this was happening?
Instead of calling me dumb or an idiot all the time. I glared at the innocent Status Window before flopping fully onto the floor.
Then I turned my head to look at Blackie and Juju. My cheek squished against the floor, mangling my words.
"Juju, Blackie. You guys don't know either, huh?"
"Jjuu...?"
"Bbuu...."
A week passed since then.
Portals were still popping up all over the city, with goblins swarming and clashing with Awakeners over and over.
The difference from before was that some Awakeners were now stationed in each city, so responses were faster.
Plus goblins were weak, so in that week, Korea had zero casualties.
Separately, since Awakens Then Leaves Gallery was one of the stationed Awakeners, it had been hard to get in touch lately.
'I need Awakens Then Leaves Gallery's help to get into the first floor...'
Because of that, I still hadn't checked out the Tower's first floor.
I wanted to confirm why this was happening, but with increased security at Tower entrances due to recent events, it was even harder.
'Last time I went, she scolded me to go home. Took over an hour to get there...'
That didn't mean I did nothing for a whole week, though.
I'm an Awakener too, so I tried super hard to help people.
Whenever sirens went off near my place, I'd head out and smash goblins with Blackie and Juju??
If other Awakeners got there first, I'd help evacuate people.
Maybe because of that, posts like this popped up on the gallery sometimes.
Have you guys seen a girl with purple hair?
Whenever I run into goblins outside, this purple-haired girl saves me, and she looks super young;;
I thought no one had awakened before 19, what's up with her??
Goblins dropping like flies, so her power seems insane too.
An Awakener stationed in Ilsan mentioned a purple-haired girl last time, must be her.
What'd he say??
Keeps saying monsters are all cleared before he even arrives...
For real??
Everyone's talking about this girl among Awakeners lately, but no one knows who she is.
What if even Awakeners don't know?
Association's trying to approach her, but she keeps vanishing;;
So she's hiding on purpose?
Probably? Not sure.
No one's awakened before 19 so far.. If what you say is true, she's the first.
From comments above, doesn't seem Association-affiliated. What is she?
I dunno.. Anyway, not ordinary.
Other areas have Goblin Kings and Goblin Lords, but Ilsan hasn't seen those two. Some say it's because of her.
Yeah? I live in Ilsan, only seen regular goblins, no kings or lords.
Same around Woo Jin-seong's place, no Goblin Kings or Lords.
Who the heck is that purple-haired girl?;;;;
Uwhehehe..
??
???????????????
And others like...
[Took a pic of the Ilsan purple-haired girl today, but later it was all black?? Wtf (79)]
[That purple-haired girl's power seems Woo Jin-seong level, wiped out surrounding goblins in one go (89)]
[Purple-haired girl < Sounds like a monster from gallery stories, but she's super cute irl (99)]
Stories about me were popping up sporadically on the gallery.
"Hehe, uwheheng. Am I getting too famous like this?"
What if I save someone and they ask for an autograph later? I haven't even decided on a signature yet.
"Ah, no. Before that, I should probably register as an Awakener soon."
I really needed to check out the first floor now, but I still had no connections.
Asking Awakens Then Leaves Gallery outright felt like too much of a burden, especially since she was so busy.
And I didn't know any other Awakeners to ask for help, so it was frustrating.
"Uuu. Should I join a guild? But how do you even join one... No idea."
"Bbuu?"
As I sighed heavily at my phone, Blackie suddenly started opening a drawer.
"Huh? What's up?"
I went over to Blackie, who glanced at me before stretching its legs long to rummage in the drawer.
"Bbuu...!"
Finally, Blackie pulled something out—a piece of paper.
"Huh? This is... the studio lease agreement? Blackie, why'd you pull this out?"
"Bbuuu! Bbu!"
"What? Take a look at this?"
I didn't get why it was giving me the lease all of a sudden, but I checked it out as Blackie suggested.
Sure enough, my name, Eunha, was on it from signing, along with the landlord sister's name.
"Huh? Was the landlord sister a foreigner?"
She did have an exotic look, but what can I say. Seeing her name after so long felt off for some reason.
I hadn't thought anything weird when we signed, so why did her name feel strange now?
I blinked and murmured the name on the lease softly.
"Ha, Has..."
"Bbuuu!"
Rumble rumble rumble!
"Eek?!"
Before I could finish the name, a crashing sound came from beyond the front door, like something collapsing.
I dropped the lease in shock and hurried to the door.
As I leaned in to listen, a knock-knock-knock echoed from the hallway.
"Uh, u-um. Wh-who is it...?"
The voice that followed was one I hadn't heard in quite a while.
"Ah, Eunha... No, Eunha dear. It's your landlord sister. Mind opening the door?"
"Gasp."
Right, rent's due.
