The Children of God
The commentators' voices crackled with raw excitement.
It was a sight completely different from the Manwang they all knew.
If one word could define the man, it would be versatility. He preferred 5:5 team fights that let his cunning shine brightest rather than rough, head-on brawls.
Yet the Manwang on screen right now seemed possessed. His mouth clamped shut, he swung his sword like a lunatic.
Even the Kirin fans were thrown off by the unfamiliar display.
The casters jumped in as well.
At any rate, the reaction to Manwang's transformation was largely positive.
Kirin fans were thrilled that Manwang had taken the initiative with aggressive plays, showing an entirely different side from the previous sets.
The Yongbung, however, had a completely different reaction.
Just last year the boy had been lying in a hospital bed. Now he was swinging his greatsword with everything he had for the sake of his team. What fan wouldn't be moved?
The casters continued their fevered commentary.
Manwang and Baek Yeon-woo.
Baek Yeon-woo and Manwang.
Both guilds continued raising the tempo endlessly around the mid lane.
In top, the Gumiho scattered blue flames. In mid, Park Su-bin and his giant ran wild as if to repay the humiliation they had suffered. Chang-gwi ground his teeth, determined to repay the jungle gap from set one. Sanwang only grew fiercer as the match accelerated beyond his expectations.
Tinkerbell fluttered her wings, scattering fairy blessings, while Hwarang, sensing the unusual resistance, had already returned to bottom lane.
With their support, fire and lightning turned the bottom lane into a wasteland.
Both sides were breaking through limit after limit, proving exactly why they stood at the pinnacle as legends.
And so the match raced toward its climax.
25 minutes.
It was an awkward time, neither early nor mid game, yet the kill score had already reached 30 to 26.
Both teams' kill-death ratios were as tattered as the jungle that had been reduced to ash.
All first and second turrets had collapsed. Both sides were now preparing for the upcoming objective team fight.
But the tighter the match, the more a single mistake could decide everything.
That decisive moment arrived now.
Clang!
A sword flew high into the air.
"!!"
"!!"
Han Jeong-do stared at the soaring blade in disbelief.
In the instant Baek Yeon-woo staggered yet still lifted his greatsword, Han Jeong-do had lost his grip.
Chance!
Baek Yeon-woo's greatsword stabbed straight toward his heart.
Blood sprayed. Han Jeong-do had used lightning-quick movement to protect his vital points, but blood still exploded from his shoulder and earlobe.
"Captain, this way."
"Unnie!! Slow down!!"
Flame Queen and Tinkerbell rushed to join their captain in his crisis.
But Mir Guild had no intention of letting them regroup so easily.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"Hehe, you're not going anywhere."
If Hwarang's descending silver shield wall blocked their path, Yu Ri-ra's sniping completely pinned their feet in place.
The Kirin bottom duo was now fully sealed off.
At that moment the bushes above rustled, and Chang-gwi and the Gumiho burst out. They intended not only to save Manwang but to end Baek Yeon-woo in one decisive strike.
The instant the blood-red spear gleamed and locked onto Baek Yeon-woo—
"Yeonu, jump!"
"!!"
A giant descended from the sky.
In that fleeting moment, Baek Yeon-woo reacted instantly to Park Su-bin's voice.
There was no need to check vision. No need to explain what to do. These young comrades were already breathing as one.
Baek Yeon-woo kicked off the ground and launched himself upward. During that brief time in the air, Park Su-bin's transformed board rose beneath his feet.
The instant Baek Yeon-woo's feet planted firmly on the board—
Park Su-bin's giant smashed down onto the earth—
And the shockwave swallowed Chang-gwi, the Gumiho, and Manwang whole.
Area-of-effect stun!
Giant's Roar
KAAAAAA——!!
Amid the mushroom-shaped cloud of dust, Baek Yeon-woo hurled himself into the smoke.
"Look at me!"
In any ordinary team, that alone would have ended the fight. A wide-area disable that stripped away combat ability.
But Baek Yeon-woo, who possessed the Heavenly Eye, was certain they would not crumble so easily.
And his prediction was correct.
Even in that desperate moment, the Kirin Guild found a way out.
"Gather on me!"
Manwang rolled up both sleeves. The bracelets around his forearms clashed together violently.
Cling!
The colliding bracelets shattered into pieces. The gem fragments embedded in them scattered through the air, drawing a magic circle in the empty space.
Shield.
Magic Shield.
Point Shield.
Imperial Shield.
The item-granted spells overlapped, stacking layer after layer of colorful shields that built themselves into a fortress wall.
Each shield consumed an item worth an entire house. Once completed, he believed it would at least buy them time to breathe.
However.
That only applied if the opponent had no counter prepared.
Baek Yeon-woo burst through the smoke like an arrow.
He drove his greatsword into the still-incomplete dome-shaped shield. Baek Yeon-woo, forcing the shield back, and the casting Han Jeong-do met each other's eyes.
"!!"
"!!"
For a brief second Baek Yeon-woo bared his fangs in a savage grin at the flustered Han Jeong-do.
Then he drew his sub-sword and brought it down.
Boom! Boom!! BOOOOM——!!
He struck again and again.
With the mindset that either your shield breaks or my body breaks, one of us is dying here, he hammered down with fierce determination...
Crrrrrack—
CRASH!
He shattered it completely!!
Massive chunks of magic power scattered in every direction.
But he did not stop there. He continued striking before the magic that formed the shields could even disperse through the air.
The giant's clasped fists came down.
BOOOOOOM——!!
Park Su-bin and Baek Yeon-woo have broken through the layered shields!
They were the Children of God.
Lee Shin's children.
Whether they heard the fans' cheers or not, Park Su-bin and Baek Yeon-woo relentlessly hammered Kirin's core.
The fragments of earth shattered by the giant devastated the surroundings while Baek Yeon-woo swept across the battlefield with movements as nimble as a wild beast.
The Kirin Guild, now fully alert, launched a counterattack.
Yet even as the giant was sliced apart, the greatsword blocked, bodies sent rolling, and flesh torn to rags, Park Su-bin and Baek Yeon-woo never let go of the offensive.
Because—
"Vita."
The miniature Vita on Sanwang's shoulder cried out toward the sky.
A shadow that covered the entire land in an instant.
Anyone present would have looked up and despaired.
Countless wind hawks blanketed the entire sky.
"Destroy them."
The wind hawks dove toward the earth all at once.
On the ground, water rats poked their heads out and exploded. Vines and roots that had begun in the jungle devastated everything around them.
In the midst of it all, Vita, who had manifested in the form of a deer, was slicing the tower clean in two with his antlers.
The buildings were being demolished faster than the wind itself. This was exactly why the fans had been begging them to buy time.
Just a little longer!
Just a little longer!!
Perhaps the fans' desperate cheers reached them.
Park Su-bin squeezed out the last handful of mana from his now-empty mana hole. The giant drew in a breath.
Even with Chang-gwi's spear embedded in his abdomen, Park Su-bin did not lose consciousness.
And the giant's lion roar was finally completed.
――――!!
Concentric circles spread outward with the roaring giant at the center. Everything touched by the shockwave was blown away.
Yang Kang-cheol has slain Park Su-bin
Park Su-bin has slain Yang Kang-cheol
It was then. While the two of them scattered into particles of magic power—
Baek Yeon-woo threw himself through the swirling dust storm. His Heavenly Eye searched for the weak point in the shockwave. At the same time, he found his target.
Like a beast locking onto prey, he pounced.
"Got you."
"!!"
Shuk!
The sword thrust out by the collar-grabbed Manwang pierced straight through Baek Yeon-woo's back.
It was a brilliant display of Manwang's judgment that he did not panic even in that urgent moment. Yet the one smiling was Baek Yeon-woo as he died.
While tightly embracing Manwang's body, he shouted.
"Noona!!"
At the same time, a flash of light shot forward.
The lightning-fast sniper round pierced through Baek Yeon-woo and finally drove itself through Manwang's throat as well.
Han Jeong-do has slain Baek Yeon-woo
Yu Ri-ra has slain Han Jeong-do
It was over.
The moment Park Su-bin and Baek Yeon-woo took the two core players with them, the outcome of the match was decided.
Second set victory.
The moment this brutal, bloody battle between the two guilds ended in Mir Guild's victory, everyone watching the match could already guess the result of this round.
