Quest: Sword of Chilya
Warning: Failure in the duel against Gullak's spirit will incur Gullak's wrath, resulting in failure of the World Scenario Quest.
“Ha, haha……”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at the barrage of warning windows popping up one after another.
“Chilya Sword Master…… Pretty grandiose name for a first job change class, huh?”
Chilya of the War God. The strongest swordsmanship I knew in Dimension World. And naturally, since all the quests I was tackling right now were tied to Chilya, forging a bond with its master, Gullak, was more crucial than anything.
Failure meant losing far too much. It could even turn the entire North against me.
‘But kneeling before him and just taking the Chilya he offers? That holds no meaning.’
I slowly readjusted my grip on my sword.
“You really intend to fight, don’t you.”
Gullak growled low in my direction, his voice rumbling like distant thunder.
“How long has it been since someone dared pick up a sword against me…… Back when I’d only just reached the pinnacle of the blade, challengers came in droves.”
He slung his massive greatsword over his shoulder as he spoke.
“But in the end, the throne of the pinnacle belongs to only one. Needless to say, the fact that I sit upon it speaks for itself—no need to explain the fate of those challengers, right?”
“You talk too much.”
A prickling chill ran through me, like goosebumps rising all over my body. His presence truly lived up to the title of War God.
‘But……’
I stared at him.
‘He’s not on that thing’s level.’
Oddly enough, it wasn’t as overwhelming as facing that one. His strength felt rooted in the human realm, while that one was pure calamity—like facing a natural disaster. No matter how mighty a human might be, they’re powerless before such forces.
Ridiculously, there was no fear trembling through me. I smirked faintly, noting how my sword tip pointed dead at him.
‘Who’d have thought dying to that damn calamity over and over would toughen me up like this.’
“A sword worthy of the War God. Just looking at it makes my legs shake. It doesn’t slice—it pulverizes everything.”
I pointed at Gullak’s blade as I continued.
“Truth be told, I was curious. But now I get it. The monstrous strength swinging that blade must be the true power behind Chilya—the force that cleaves mountains.”
It sounded like praise at first glance, but it was pure provocation. Implying that the greatness of Chilya—hailed as the continent’s strongest sword art—wasn’t in the technique itself, but in his physical might.
“What nonsense.”
Gullak laughed coldly at my words.
“Your arrogance pierces the heavens. You think the gap between us is merely the years we’ve lived? That my power is just some byproduct of time? You dare challenge me yet beg me to go easy?”

“……!!”
The moment he glared, a bone-chilling cold gripped my entire body, like it was freezing solid. My breath caught in my throat.
This pressure was worlds apart from facing the Spirit Devourer. No need to say it—he saw me as insignificant. The stark level 99 above his head, the red name marking him as a Legendary-grade NPC.
‘On par with a field boss monster like the Spirit Devourer, but his level’s only one higher.’
This man before me was no less than a dragon in human form. But ridiculously, even as his overwhelming power made my hairs stand on end, the system warnings lied—there was no terror.
What I’d endured was far worse.
‘Odds of beating him……’
Countless tactics and strategies whirled through my mind, calculating furiously.
But zero. Every projection ended in my defeat. No matter how much I’d learned and remembered, the sheer power gap from a near-triple level difference rendered it all useless.
Plus, hunting Lanselro had allies like Amur’s dagger and the Northern hunters. Now? Just me.
No variables at all.
‘Then……’
I met Gullak’s eyes.
‘I’ll create my own.’
“I’m not asking you to go easy. That kind of victory isn’t won—it’s handed to you. As I said earlier, it’s been ages since the War God vanished. Your heroes have faded into legend too, leaving the world buzzing with rumors of Chilya—but doubts linger if it’s truly the best under heaven.”
“What are you getting at?”
Anger radiated from him, but it wasn’t enough yet.
“This meeting might not be my privilege alone. If everyone covets Gullak’s lost art…… Is it even worth debating? Time has birthed countless sword styles to shatter the Absolute Sword.”
“……”
“Aren’t you curious? About the later styles crafted to surpass yours.”
I pressed on relentlessly.
“Don’t you want to prove Chilya reigns supreme, no questions asked? But……”
“To prove that, our gap is too vast.”
“……Exactly.”
I flashed an awkward smile his way. By provoking then yielding slightly, I’d preserved his pride while framing my disadvantage as his opportunity.
“You wield a slick tongue better than a sword.”
The fury I’d sensed from him earlier ebbed, cooling into calm. Unlike at first.
‘Not just brute sword strength, huh.’
His composure screamed continental powerhouse. No mere muscle-bound barbarian.
“But you’re not wrong. With my heroes gone, you might be the last to seek me out.”
Gullak nodded slowly.
“The thought of Chilya vanishing forever…… It shakes even me. The despair that my art might never grace the world again.”
Fwooooosh……!!!
The crude sword in his grip heated red-hot, its blade glowing crimson.
“Even for a War God like me, that’s terrifying.”
Sizzle…… Sizzzzzle……!!
White smoke and searing heat filled the air like a forge, transforming the thick blade into a razor-sharp greatsword in an instant.
‘Mana? No…… Pure fighting spirit reshaping the blade.’
I let out a hollow laugh. Absurdity unfolding before my eyes.
“Fine. I’ll face you with sword styles alone.”
After displaying such overwhelming spirit—enough to melt the blade itself—he aimed to crush my will. But his words made me clench my fist.
‘Jackpot.’
The gamble paid off. I’d created the variable. Level gap? Irrelevant now. Victory would hinge purely on countering sword styles.
“But……”
Gullak looked down at me.
“One condition must be met first.”
“What’s that?”
“Later powerhouses evolved their arts to break Chilya. You claim to prove mine superior.”
“Yes.”
“Then you must know those styles…… Can you even manage that?”
I smiled faintly at his words. Moments ago, my memories were useless baggage. Now? Weapons.
“Gullak.”
I addressed him directly.
“My skills fall short of crossing blades with you directly. But in my memories lies a sword style that’ll satisfy you.”
I assumed my stance slowly, tilting the raised sword subtly to one side.
“Ho……?”
Gullak watched the odd posture with evident interest.
“Assassin Max.”
Vwoooom---!!
No energy or mana infused the blade. Didn’t matter. From here, it was pure style versus style, as he’d said. I began summoning the continental powerhouses from my memories, one by one.
“Slaughter Sword.”
Shriiing--!! Clang--!!
My sword lunged for Gullak’s right flank. But he casually deflected it.
“Sharp.”
Sliiiide……!
Despite his words, his greatsword glided up, grazing my blade.
“Kuh?!”
I twisted my sword in haste.
“Impressive, but if we’re talking ferocity, it pales against my Second Sword.”
The greatsword arced skyward, then whoosh--!! plummeted toward my head with a razor whistle.
“How about this?”
I’d anticipated his bisecting strike.
“Thunder Thrust.”
I yanked the hilt to my shoulder like driving an awl and thrust.
Gladiator Max Loren’s ultimate technique.
Flash--!!!
‘What?’
Incredibly, pure style unleashed lightning—the hallmark of Thunder Thrust—surging from my blade.
“No need for surprise. This is my domain of will. Strength is absolute to me. I simply wish to see your remembered styles in full.”
The sharp bolt raged, but Gullak’s expression didn’t flicker as he crushed it down.
“……”
The two styles that had stood twin peaks with Dragon Assault Sword Style in my dreams were effortlessly parried.
“You’ll face my full styles with only Chilya forms? Don’t you think you’re the arrogant one?”
“For the strong, arrogance is mere confidence.”
Infuriating, but true.
“If that’s all, I’m disappointed.”
Vwoooooom---!!!!
His sword moved again.
True Chilya Third Sword.
Defying its greatsword bulk, the tip whipped in unpredictable arcs, swaying like willow branches.
“……!!!”
I hurriedly reset my grip low, defending against Gullak’s assault.
Clang-! Claaang-! Kagagagang--!!
“Kuh……!!”
The suffocating chain overwhelmed me. Instinctively, I tried bouncing his blade with Dragon Assault forms.
Crack……!
“Guh!”
But as I swung up to counter, my sword wrist snapped with a grotesque crunch under his power.
Dazed by the pain, I barely clung to my sword and retreated.
‘Can’t win on strength. Counter change with change. My most erratic style……’
I laid the blade flat over my wrist and moved like a dancer. Unlike Gullak’s domineering yet fluid Chilya, mine evoked a silent forest.
‘Never thought I’d use your style again……’
Even in this hair-trigger clash, I recalled one man with a wry smile.
Vwooom……!! Boom! Kagagagang……!!
Explosions erupted wherever Gullak’s sword touched, space itself rupturing despite pure style. His Chilya raged like infused with true energy.
“Hup……!”
But I slipped his blade by a paper’s width, aiming for his back.
“Not bad.”
Gullak had predicted the ambush, laughing sharply.
Clang-! Clang! Kagagang-!!!
How much time passed? Gullak’s initially untouchable sword began registering in my vision, my body reacting on instinct.
Kagang-! Thud-!! Kraaaaaack---!!!
I threw every memory and technique I knew at him. He loomed like an insurmountable mountain, yet that very immensity freed me to fight unbound.
I’d waged countless dream battles and real skirmishes, always with my own arsenal. Never once considered—or tried—another’s.
Body-honed skills and mind-stored memories. This fusion unleashed my full potential for the first time.
“Hup……. Hup……”
It felt like the sword was sucking me in.
“Hraaaaaah!!”
As I readjusted and charged, it appeared.
