Prologue: A Divine Whim
There existed countless worlds. The modern world, where science had flourished. The magical world, where magic had advanced. The martial world, where swords and martial arts reigned supreme. The supernatural world, where psychic abilities had evolved. And so on.
Each of these worlds had its own overseeing god. Deities who watched over and managed their respective realms.
This place—a vast, pristine white expanse.
The god of the modern world lay sprawled on his stomach, idly peering down at the earth below.
“Aaah~ This is so boring... Can't a war break out or something?”
The modern world was utterly peaceful, devoid of any notable incidents. Just a few centuries ago, world wars and endless conflicts had kept things lively, while science advanced without limit, making the spectacle endlessly entertaining. But once civilization reached a certain height, wars—those wasteful, inefficient events—vanished entirely, leaving behind nothing but petty verbal squabbles and political maneuvering.
“So boring...”
The god found the situation deeply unsatisfying. There was nothing worth watching. His sole responsibility was observation, yet all he ever saw was the same monotonous routine day after day. Other gods enjoyed constant small wars or grand events in their worlds, but his own remained stagnant. It grated on him terribly.
Still, he was a god. He dutifully carried out his duty of watching over the world. He endured it for a long, long time... until finally, he reached his breaking point.
“There has to be some way!”
He began to seriously consider a solution. A way to escape this tedium. A way to enjoy himself like the other gods.
And before long, he found one. A method to make observing the mortal realm genuinely entertaining.
“Why not just watch it together with other interesting worlds?”
Convinced this was a brilliant idea, the god of the modern world immediately shared his proposal with the other deities.
“No.”
The god of the martial world refused outright.
“Why would we bother?”
The god of the supernatural world rejected it as well.
“Everyone already knows your world is dull. Do you honestly think any of us would agree to that?”
“I’ll pass. I’m perfectly content as things are.”
One by one, the other gods voiced their refusals.
“Hey, you idiots! I’m telling you, it’ll be fun!”
The modern god tried desperately to persuade them, but the others had already lost interest and dispersed to tend to their own worlds.
“These... fools...!”
Frustrated, he cursed the deities who had rejected him.
But then—
“Sounds interesting.”
“Huh?”
One god remained.
“I’m interested. At the very least, it’ll be more entertaining than what we have now.”
It was the god of the magical world.
“Right?! It does sound fun, doesn’t it?! I knew it would be!”
“Yes. But if we truly want it to be enjoyable, proper preparation will be necessary.”
“Eh? Preparation?”
“Indeed. Preparation.”
The two gods—the deity of the modern world and the deity of the magical world—began a long discussion, carefully crafting their plan. A scheme devised purely for their own amusement.
Thus, a fleeting spark of boredom from one god merged with the interest of another, rapidly swelling in scale. It marked the beginning of a certain “story” that would eventually captivate the attention of every god.
