Kang Jia's Diary
Today I saw Oppa again. When he passed by me, I could feel every single breath. How can he not recognize me? Our eyes even met. Last time, we even talked. He's brushed past me for years now. It hurts my feelings. It hurts. It hurts. I remember Oppa's breathing, his walk. Everything about Oppa is etched in my mind. No one understands Oppa like I do. I want praise...
Oppa took a different route today. Why? Is he avoiding me? No, that's impossible. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. It's just... yeah, so... Oppa doesn't know me well yet. If I get a little closer, if I stand out a bit more, he'll realize it. He'll feel this pull between us.
Oppa was laughing with some other girl. That fucking bitch... Who is she? Should I make her disappear? Kill her? Hack her to pieces so no corpse is ever found?
Last year's entries. No wonder she didn't want to show me something like this. In front of me, she's all cute and bubbly. Anyway, whoever that girl was who talked to me, she's pitiful. I hope she didn't end up dead....
I saw Oppa leaving the house today. Did he lock the door? What's his room like inside? His scent must fill the whole house. The chair he sits in every day, the things he touches, the clothes he wore, his underwear, the tissues he used... I want to smell them all, touch them. I want to enter Oppa's space too.
I checked through the earlier pages too, but everything from 2023 was like this. I'd gotten used to Kang Jia's personality now, so it didn't creep me out as much anymore.
I flipped to the latter half of the diary.
Today, something strange happened.
"Something strange...?"
On New Year's Day, like always, I snuck into where Oppa lives to watch him lying in bed. Oppa's sleeping face was as lovable as ever. I wanted to kiss him, stick my tongue in, suck up all that honey-sweet saliva, but I held back. He'd hate me if I did. That'd be worse than death.
My heart hurts so much. It aches. I have no family, no friends, no one but Oppa. I love him with all my heart, I could give him everything.
...In the end, I couldn't hold back and leaned down to press my lips to his when the door opened. I was so angry. Oppa and I were meeting. We were finally about to become one, so who the hell was this interrupting?
Definitely not the mindset of a normal person. Anyone sane would've freaked out at getting caught trespassing—either bolted or begged for mercy on their knees. But no, her first reaction was rage at the interruption of our "meeting."
More importantly, who was this person in my house?
Was I living with someone?
I hurriedly turned the page.
That bastard started yapping on his own. Calling me a thief, saying he'd call the cops.
What a fucking dog.
I yelled at him to shut up without thinking. Oppa might wake up.
But the weird part was, the moment I told him to shut up, he actually did. Wondering if other commands worked too, I tried again. "Don't make a sound, quietly go outside and disappear." His eyes went all glassy, and he just vanished.
I was stunned for a bit, but then excitement hit me so hard my legs gave out. Who cares what it is? Nothing matters. With this voice... Oppa will love me too.
Oppa is mine now. Finally, finally, finally, finally, finally, Oppa became my Oppa. He told me he loves me. He kissed me, hugged me, stroked my hair, touched my embarrassing places, groped my breasts a lot. Oppa got excited over my body. It was so embarrassing, and since it was my first time I didn't know what to do, but I tried hard to make Oppa happy. I'll make him as happy as he makes me. And later... when Oppa accepts me deep inside... we'll make lots and lots of babies and live happily ever after.
I see Oppa next to me several times a day. Oppa smells good even without washing. Even if he smells bad, it's fine—I'll clean him with my tongue.
"Tch..."
No matter that it's my past self's memories I'm not recalling, it still made me queasy.
But then I noticed something added on the next page.
I heard a weird noise outside, so I went out and there was a monster wandering around. It was like a giant rat with its skin peeled off, flesh exposed, but luckily my voice worked on it. It was a little scary, but with Oppa here, it's okay. As long as I have Oppa, I can handle monsters or anything.
So the whole world had gone weird too...
The diary entries cut off after that.
I scoured it thoroughly, hoping for details on why she got that power, its limits, or how the world changed, but nothing else.
"Well, it's a diary, after all..."
Diaries and journals are for personal thoughts only.
The one overriding principle that dominated Kang Jia's mind, her life's goal, was getting Oppa.
Once she actually used that suggestion ability to make me hers, she had no reason to keep writing. This wasn't some anomaly report; no way she'd jot that in her personal journal.
Still, I learned two key things.
Kang Jia's power emerged on January 1, 2024.
And at the exact same moment her power appeared, the whole world started going insane.
In just eight months since 2024 began, the world—and my life—had turned into this mess.
"Kang Jia..."
Strange fate. Rolling her name on my tongue, it didn't feel as repulsive as before.
Stockholm syndrome.
The syndrome where victims sympathize with or defend their captors.
Was that it?
Despite the ruined world, this tiny girl blocked monsters with her warped love, protecting me. She was still extremely dangerous and sinister, but maybe I could use her. If I figured out how to handle her properly, I might not need to fear her so much.
She was a threat to me, but also completely on my side.
"On my side..."
That's when a noise came from downstairs.
Thud!
The front door opened and slammed shut, followed by footsteps charging up the stairs.
No clock, so I hadn't noticed, but time had flown while I devoured a full year's worth of diary entries.
I quickly locked the drawer back and shoved the diary in just as the door burst open.
"Oppa-aaang!"
She tackled me.
"Ssssss! Haaaaah! Uhehe, I missed Oppa so much!"
Her face was splattered with blood droplets. Must be from whatever "company work" involved killing something.
I grabbed a tissue from her desk and wiped the blood off her cheek.
"Ack... Wh-what's that?"
"Uh... blood got on you."
The soft tissue brushed her cheek.
"Uuuung~ Kissy!"
She puckered her goldfish lips.
Mwah♡
"Heehee! I'll go wash up then! Wait in your room, okay?"
"Yeah."
She dashed into the bathroom, clearly eager to clean up quick and cling to me.
Shhhhhhh—
I rattled two pills in my pocket.
'Something to drink...'
The first-floor fridge had orange juice.
At least there's still human food around.
Glug glug—
Orange juice in a glass.
"Two pills... might be risky if I dump both in."
Definitely. Slam two narcotic sedatives like that, and she could stop breathing. I didn't want Kang Jia dead either. In the worst scenarios, she's my sharp blade. That's what makes her useful.
I carefully sliced open the soft capsules without making noise and dropped them into the juice.
Stirred well, then tasted a bit on my fingertip—no bitter pill taste, overpowered by the strong orange.
"Ptoo... This should do."
It'll work.
To avoid suspicion, I needed to prep one for myself too.
Bang!
"Oppa! Dry my hair for me!"
I set the juice on my desk and waited. Kang Jia came in with wet hair, dryer in hand.
Just a t-shirt on, exposing her smooth, pale arms and legs.
Pink nails. Flushed face from the warm water.
"Sit here then."
Perfect timing. While drying her hair, I could hand her the juice naturally.
"Drink this, Jia. I'll dry your hair."
"Ung! Heehee, Oppa is the best..."
She took the cup without a hint of doubt.
I figured she'd sip it slowly while I dried, but nope—if it was from me, she chugged it in one go. The potent CNS suppressant slid down her slender throat.
'Good...'
I kept drying her hair casually until the drug kicked in.
Warm air. Fresh shampoo scent from her just-washed hair. Steamy, humid breeze from the wet strands.
Her beloved Oppa's touch. Big hands stroking her nape.
All of it weighed down her eyelids.
"Huum... Hmnya..."
As I gently massaged her scalp, she started nodding off like a cat by the heater.
I whispered in her ear.
"Jia, sleepy? Wanna sleep in bed?"
"Uuuu... Ung..."
It worked.
Thrill surged through me—the plan was flawless.
Su-hee's face flashed in my mind. Those somewhat cold lips. Cat-like eyes. But the inclusive and understanding unique to an older woman. She'd be a huge help scouting.
I looked down at snoring Kang Jia.
"Jia... you're asleep, right?"
Waved my hand in front of her eyes—no reaction.
Just to be sure, I brought my face inches from hers, lips almost touching—no response.
Normally, she'd sprout hearts in her eyes and smother me in kisses if my face got this close.
Definite.
She's out cold.
Time hadn't hit 1 PM yet, but I needed to head to school first.
A teacher there meant staff were working normally—might even call Kim Su-hee to the gate.
Twitch—
As I turned to leave, her fingers twitched slightly.
Startled, I waved my hand in front again... but yeah, still asleep.
Just sleep-talking.
I quietly closed the door and headed down the stairs.
