Meeting the Blade Tyrant
The golden card floating in midair soon revealed its true nature.
“Wind Blast?”
Just from the name, Carpe could guess what kind of skill it was.
It had to be a wind-element attack spell.
And as if confirming Carpe's hunch, Cheonma spoke up.
-Not bad. It creates a storm in a set area. Short cooldown, solid damage—it's one of the core skills for wind mages.
“Oh, really?”
-Yeah. Among all 7-star skills... it's easily in the top 5%.
“Putting it in numbers really drives it home. That's a huge pull.”
But whether the great skill actually suited him right now was another matter entirely.
Balance was key with skills, after all.
“AoE damage spell... ugh, kinda meh. And wind attribute, too.”
He already had Permafrost, a far superior AoE spell.
And he had Wind Cutter for wind magic, so it wasn't exactly a must-have attribute either.
“Hmm. Can't trade it, can't sell it.”
-Just learn it already. You've got skill points to spare.
“Points aren't infinite, though. I wanna use 'em as efficiently as possible.”
After mulling it over, Carpe reached a decision.
The solution came surprisingly easily.
“Hyangi.”
“Kyuu?”
“You learn this one.”
“Kyuuut?!”
It made way more sense for Hyangi to learn it than for him, who already had both AoE and wind skills.
“Single-target: Calling Thunder. AoE: Wind Blast. Perfect! Perfect!”
And crucially, the Storm Scarf from the Harpy Queen boosted wind skills, making it an ideal match.
Will you teach the familiar Mukhyang the 7-star skill ‘Wind Blast’? The familiar's skill point will be consumed (1).
“Teach it.”
The skill card faded away smoothly, completing the acquisition.
Mukhyang bounced around in place, thrilled at her new skill.
“Kyukyukyu!”
“Hmm. Hyangi, I'm jealous. The gap between us is widening. I need to learn Mount soon...”
“Hyangi, amazing!”
“Ah, Tina too. Here, take this gear I used to wear.”
“Armor crafted and worn by my lord himself! The highest honor.”
Seeing Tina stroke the gear like it was precious made Carpe feel a bit guilty.
It was just rare-grade stuff, after all.
He resolved to outfit her with at least hero-grade gear once her level rose a bit more.
“Oh yeah, gotta get Mirage some gear too.”
“Me? I'm fine, Master. Doppelgangers don't need equipment.”
“...Really?”
“Yeah. Once I level up, I can copy gear too.”
“Hmm. Cool setting.”
Mirage's gear could wait, then.
“I'll grab some nice accessories later and give 'em to you.”
“Okay. Thanks, Master.”
Mirage clung to Carpe's leg, and he patted her head.
“Whew. Now we're really done. Ruana graduation!”
-Yeah. I'll analyze the new Room features and fill you in, so just focus on growing.
Back in Ruana after leaving the Room, Carpe made one last stop at the auction house.
He needed to offload the gear he'd collected—especially from the KD players.
His and Mukhyang's inventories were stuffed with equipment.
-Yeah, sell that hero greatsword. You won't use it anyway, and you can get better easily. Oh? Lucius's dagger? Keep that—you can upgrade and sell it later.
Sorting keepers from trash per Cheonma's advice, he listed everything unnecessary.
Auctions normally limited listings per account, but...
Black-grade accounts can register items unlimited.
With black-grade perks, Carpe cleared his inventory, then shopped for a few items.
-Melee build needs attack speed potions, mandatory. Grab accuracy potions too. Rest we can make do with what we've got.
“Was gonna get familiar EXP boosters too. Shame.”
-Give it up. Doesn't stack with Doll Mastery.
Carpe's 9-star Drech-style Doll Unification gave familiars a 150% EXP buff at mastery.
But even that felt too slow, so he'd hoped for potions... no dice; they didn't stack.
Probably to prevent insane balance breaks.
“Unlock never works on stuff like this.”
-That freeloading mindset ain't healthy.
“Nah. Maximize what you can, right? You chase efficiency too.”
-...I was just pissed off.
“...”
Shopping done, Carpe headed out—but...
“My liege.”
“Yeah? What's up?”
“Have you finished all your business here?”
“Yeah. You saw—I sold what I needed, bought what I wanted.”
“...Overconfidence is ever dangerous, my liege. A wise sovereign must always consider every possibility.”
“...Huh?”
Doll-mode Tina fixed Carpe with a stare.
Her eyes burned not with her usual calm, but with yearning.
“...Got it.”
Carpe read her desire instantly.
“Forgive me. As your lord, I've been too neglectful. Today, I shall find your missing half.”
He turned back and searched the auction house for one item.
Mount.
It was the only thing ascetic Tina truly craved.
Ding.
No listings currently available for the skill card ‘Mount’.
“Ah, damn.”
“...Ah!”
Lord and vassal sighed in unison.
Cheonma, watching, thought, What the hell, syncing over this?
“Kuh. Forgive me. My failings as lord deny my knight her wish.”
-...You okay? Why the sudden roleplay?
“No, my liege. Your heart reaches me. I am grateful. I am content.”
-...And why are you playing along?
Carpe added Mount to his watchlist—a black-grade exclusive.
Any new listing would ping him instantly.
“Alright, now Ruana graduation.”
-Yeah. Head to the warp NPC in the commercial district. Can jump to other hubs from there.
“Wait, isn't the Room upgrade spot on the way? Shouldn't we walk?”
-Sure, but bundle the material gathering with related quests. Few forest cat quests in Ramark Kingdom.
“Ah, got it.”
Carpe approached the robed mage-like warp NPC, who smiled brightly.
“Welcome. Warp service...? Hmm? Your level's a bit low—other regions might be dangerous.”
The NPC noted Carpe hadn't hit level 50 yet and warned him.
“If you crave new worlds, gain more experience first? Monsters outside Ruana are far stronger.”
“Thanks for the concern. Still wanna check it out. I'll come back if it's too rough.”
“Very well. Select your destination.”
A window popped up with about 100 locations listed.
Carpe picked one.
“To Ramark Kingdom.”
“Ramark Kingdom. Noted. May cause dizziness—mind yourself. Fee: 5 gold.”
“Here.”
“Confirmed. May mana bless you.”
The scenery shifted.
No dizziness—he warped to Ramark flawlessly.
-Whew. Landed right. Been ages here too.
“You've been here before, hyung?”
-Yeah, hung out long in my third run. Ramark's kinda infamous among RaSe players.
“...Infamous how?”
-Not the good kind.
Ramark Kingdom was the weakest nation in RaSe.
Plus, unlike most friendly NPCs, Ramark's hated players.
Tales of newbies getting wrecked for treating them like others still popped up on forums.
-Didn't know why they hated players back then... till you.
“Huh? Why?”
-Ramark's the remnant of Arkram Empire. Lost to Patron Spirits—why like their blessed players?
'Arkram' faded to history, but anti-Patron Spirit sentiment lingered 800 years.
-Early days, tons flocked here. Weakest nation, anti-player vibes—screams hidden quests, right?
Cheonma had chased those too.
-Nada special. A few hidden quests, but nothing unique. Rude NPCs—not great for settling.
“Hmm. Makes sense.”
Thus, Ramark now had the fewest players of any zone.
Hence: “Wanna hard mode? Ramark.”
“Explains the stares. Murderous.”
Locals scowled at the warp-spawned outsider, oozing hostility.
“Unfair. I don't even have a Patron Spirit.”
-...The hell you don't.
“Not a normal one. Anyway, to the castle.”
Last meeting Drek in Ruana, he'd begged a palace visit.
‘If you reach Ramark, please visit the palace. This brooch proves my status—smooth entry.’
Luckily, the palace was nearby.
Smaller than Ruana's lord's castle—highlighting Ramark's decline.
Guards passed easily.
Anti-player as expected, but the brooch stunned them into ushering him in courteously.
The soldier's attitude flipped; soon, a reception room.
Drek arrived shortly after.
“Hoho. Far sooner than this old man expected. Welcome, heir.”
Drek wore proper noble garb, not his ragtag usual.
“A moment, please. I'll inform His Highness...”
Bam!
Then—the door burst open.
A white-haired giant bellowed.
“Drek! I heard! The Magic King's heir is here!”
“...How'd you know, General? And lower your voice—this is top secret.”
“Hiding from me? Tsk tsk. Between us?”
“No, forget that—your voice first...”
“Oh, this the young man?”
The giant ignored Drek, eyeing Carpe intently.
-Ah, damn. Senile old coot. Still here, huh.
Cheonma sighed, recognizing the intruder.
‘Hyung, what's this? Who is he?’
-Remember? Ramark's infamous.
Weak nation. Hostile NPCs. And the fame-maker:
-Home to one of the strongest NPCs.
Arcrux continent of Last Savior.
Strongest beings? The Four Calamities.
But they're disasters—off-topic.
Excluding them, eleven pinnacle humans: One Sovereign, One Star, Four Tyrants, Five Seats.
The 11 Strong.
And one of the Four Tyrants:
Blade Tyrant Gillian.
The old man's identity.
“Good! Great eyes!”
Satisfied, he nodded at Carpe.
“You. Talk with me.”
“...Talk?”
“Haa... Heir, my deepest apologies. Humor General Gillian a bit.”
Gillian led to a vast training ground—“perfect for talk.”
“...This for talking?”
“Hahaha! Men talk best without words! A proper scrap—that's true manly talk!”
