Prologue
Accidents, as a rule, always come 'suddenly' — at the exact moment you least expect them. When you haven't prepared a single thing. Literally out of nowhere.
"...Huh?"
"Kid!!! Look out!!!"
That said, nobody can spend every waking moment bracing for disasters that might strike at any second. Truth be told, the emotion of 'worry' drags crushing fatigue along with it. And with so much still left to do and enjoy in this life, it'd be a waste to spend the whole thing drowning in fear and anxiety — wouldn't you say?
Not that I lived by some YOLO mindset, mind you — nothing like, 'I might die tomorrow, so screw it, live wild.' Dying is scary, after all. You be careful when being careful matters.
Hmm... if I had to put a label on it, mine was closer to, 'Eh, if I die, I die.' Something along those lines? ...Wait, isn't that the same damn thing? Anyway.
KRA-KOOOM—!!!!
"""KYAAAAAH—!!!"""
But, fuck's sake. Still, come on — there are limits. Who the hell worries about an outdoor AC unit plummeting straight down onto their head while they're just walking down the street?
Before I could even register the pain, my consciousness dimmed. And in that fleeting instant, a single thought crossed my mind.
'Ah... fuck my liiife...'
Before long, I opened my eyes. And I realized I had woken up in a place completely removed from the last one I remembered.
