“Interesting. You’re not trying to seduce me like the other men, are you?”
Her question came flying out of nowhere, and I thought, here it comes, as I carefully straightened my posture. Of course she’d find it odd—me all bundled up, prattling on about everyday nonsense, nothing like the other half-naked male prostitutes.
I’d seen this coming a mile away, so I pulled out my pre-rehearsed perfect response in a polite, measured tone. “Your Grace—no, anyone of noble rank probably has a proper husband at home, right? And for someone at the pinnacle of the Demon Capital like you, I’m sure you have more than one or two fine husbands waiting. With them pining for you back home, I didn’t think it was right for an outsider like me to cross that line. If they found out, wouldn’t they be heartbroken inside?”
She rested her chin on her hand, staring straight at me. A strange flicker passed over her expressionless face.
“Even if a wife takes up with another man outside, what could a pathetic husband possibly do about it?”
Her icy retort made me flinch inwardly as I swallowed hard. Well, in the brutal female-dominated structure of the Demon Capital—where strength and power were everything—she had a point. But I couldn’t back down now. Forcing a relaxed smile, I pressed on. “Of course, Your Grace is absolutely right. But I worried that a mere male prostitute from a brothel like me might tarnish that noble bond of marriage, so I didn’t dare make the first move.”
I kept my manners impeccable, my gaze steady and sincere on her. “If it’s what Your Grace desires, I’d gladly offer everything I have. But just sitting here across from someone as great as you, sharing a simple conversation—it already feels like I’ve lived a lifetime of glory. I didn’t want to ruin this precious time with anything disrespectful.”
My carefully packaged words hung in the air. A suffocating silence followed, then the faintest curve touched the lips of the otherwise stoic woman. With a soft pfft—her first tiny laugh—she spoke low. “You really are a strange one. That bizarre tongue of yours doesn’t belong in a brothel at all. Pour me another drink.”
At her softened command, I swiftly grabbed the wine bottle and filled her glass with the deep red liquid. She took the brimming glass, then nodded toward the empty spot in front of me. “You drink too.”
“Th-thank you!”
I hurriedly poured myself a glass and tipped it back cautiously. After all that tension, the sweet, bittersweet wine slid down refreshingly cool.
We’d just started to settle into a peaceful, intimate vibe, catching our breath, when—
“What the hell are you doing there?!”
A thunderous roar exploded from a dark corner of the VIP room. I whipped my head around in shock. There was Berg the wolf beastkin, silver-haired elf Reni on her lap giving her an intense cunnilingus service, glaring daggers at me.
“Haaah... Your Grace! Look at this guy! His tongue work down there is insane... haang♡”
Berg let out sticky moans under Reni’s sloppy attentions but bellowed at me with beastly murderous eyes. “How dare you sit in the presence of our great lord, cracking lame jokes! Strip off those rags right now and satisfy Her Grace to her bones!”
“Enough. I’m already enjoying my time with this one plenty. Don’t interfere.”
Rozena slammed her wine glass down with a clink as Berg’s fierce shout echoed through the room, her voice cutting cold. Berg’s ears twitched in confusion as she stammered. “B-but...! This is Her Grace’s seat, and that lame-ass is—”
“Quiet. Are you trying to irk me?”
That single line made Berg flinch, tuck her tail, and mutter, “Y-yes, understood...” before stepping back. As Berg resumed pounding Reni in a fit of frustration, the duke let out a small sigh, glancing at me.
How much time passed? The VIP room around us—minus our little bubble—had devolved into a hellish orgy of vulgar debauchery. The other noble demon women ravaged the male prostitutes like beasts in heat, lost in pleasure.
Pop! An expensive champagne bottle burst open, and they splashed the sticky golden liquid all over the men’s firm abs and thighs.
“Don’t spill a drop on the floor—lick it up like the dogs you are! Slurp...♡”
Sticky slurps and slapping flesh filled the air from every direction. The male prostitutes gasped under the women’s rough hands, thrusting vulgarly, the room thick with the musky scent of semen and hot juices.
But in the midst of that frenzied chaos, Rozena and I sat in serene stillness, like we were in a world where time had frozen. While the others were mauled and used as meat toilets, we clinked glasses and kept our conversation flowing. It started light—weather, hobbies—but as the wine warmed us, her words deepened.
“At some point, everything started feeling meaningless.”
She toyed with her empty glass, dropping the heavy line casually. “The Demon King is still above me, so I won’t claim to be the absolute strongest. But... there’s no one left who can stand in my way. Swinging my sword, unleashing my magic power, lopping off enemies’ heads—it all turned dull and boring ages ago.”
Her red eyes held the profound emptiness only one at the peak of power could know. Too strong for any sense of achievement—the anguish of the absolute.
“I see...”
I refilled her glass carefully, listening quietly. Inside, I was like, whoa, this is straight out of some wuxia or fantasy novel—the lament of a supreme expert who’s lost their edge. Can’t relate at all... But outwardly, I wore a serious, empathetic face.
“I can’t even imagine the loneliness and emptiness of standing at the top without goals. A nobody like me couldn’t presume.”
She silently sipped her wine at my cautious comfort. “Once you have it all, it feels like sand slipping through your fingers. No thrill in the kill, no heat from the blood.”
Her voice was as desolate as it contrasted the room’s vulgar moans. I nodded, locking eyes with her fully.
“Honestly, even breathing started feeling tedious.”
Rozena swirled the red wine in her glass, murmuring low. “One flick of my finger, and they all grovel. They scramble to offer rarities, tremble at my shadow. Even the other dukes tuck tail around me. With everything at my feet, life has no spark left. Nothing stimulates anymore.”
Hearing her earnest lament, I clicked my tongue inwardly. What a full belly complaint. Classic rich old fart whining. I was stressing over tomorrow’s bread money. No sympathy at all, but I plastered on a poignant, understanding look.
“From such heights, that solitude must be beyond what an ordinary guy like me can fathom. No real rivals, no surprises—how boring. I can almost feel Your Grace’s deep anguish.”
I refilled her glass devotedly, playing the perfect listener.
As our double-faced chat dragged on, rough panting rose behind me—Berg shot up from her seat. “My lord! We’re heading to round two...! This guy’s dick won’t let go of my pussy, so I gotta take him to the room and milk it dry!”
Berg clutched Reni’s silver hair roughly, bucking her hips like a feral beast. A glance at the ornate wall clock—2 a.m. already.
Yes! It’s over—I survived! I inwardly cheered, unclenching my fists. Lilith’s ironclad word: Rozena never goes to round two. Plan worked—kept my mouth running, no beastly horrors, polite chat for fat pay. Perfect success! Just bow politely and escape this madhouse.
“Time flies.”
Rozena rose slowly, staring down at me. I prepared a deep, respectful bow, relief smiling on my lips.
But the words from her red lips shattered my shallow hopes. “Shall we get going too?”
I doubted my ears. Even the surrounding moans faded distantly.
“P-pardon...?”
With a dumb look, I gazed up at her. What...? Get going? We too? Where? No round two, right?!
My mind went blank white. Frozen like a statue, I just gaped like an idiot.
