The Endless Class - A Student's Record
If you’re sitting here reading this right now, that means you’ve been dragged into this place too, doesn’t it?
I’ve gathered every record I’ve left scattered around the school and in notebooks while surviving this long, along with everything I’ve experienced myself, and left it all here for you.
I truly hope you escape from this place.
When you first arrive, the world outside the windows will feel bright, like morning—but don’t be fooled.
Out there is nothing but white fog. As far as I know, no one has ever successfully escaped through a window except under the most extreme and specific conditions.
Class will start almost immediately. First, after a bizarre bell rings and the front door opens, never look forward.
So far, no one who has properly looked at the Teacher has kept their sanity.
After that, when you hear the sound that signals a strange salute, bow your head at once.
This Teacher seems to place enormous importance on greetings.
If you’ve made it this far, class will begin. Keep your eyes half-lidded, or stare at the blackboard with as little focus as you can manage.
While teaching, the Teacher writes a great deal on the board.
But it doesn’t seem to be any subject we know.
No matter how hard I try, I can’t understand it, and more than anything it makes my head hurt.
This isn’t the ordinary headache you get from studying. It feels like a balloon is swelling inside your skull.
Ah—and during class, make sure you take notes.
It doesn’t even have to be real notes. Just pretending seems to be enough.
You can scribble anything you like with a ballpoint pen in this notebook.
If you stop writing for too long, the Teacher starts taking an interest in you. Everyone, please be careful.
Also, during class you cannot stand up from your seat.
You cannot go to the bathroom either.
Just copy whatever the students around you are doing during class, and you should be able to survive.
If you make it through class safely,
break time will begin.
I recommend simply keeping your eyes closed.
Ignore every sound that reaches you from the surroundings.
Looking doesn’t seem to create an immediate threat to survival,
but from the records other survivors left behind, the more of these “behaviors” you watch, the more your mind slips away.
Fortunately, during break time you can go to the bathroom—but you must follow the rules below without fail.
First: If three or more students from our classroom form a group and leave.
In that case, never go to the bathroom.
Those students will already be inside, and I have never seen a single record continue after someone entered a bathroom in that state.
Second: Use the back door of the classroom.
During break time, never leave through the front door.
I don’t know why, but according to one survivor’s record, when they closed their eyes and cracked the front door open just a little, endless monstrous screams poured out.
Third: When you open the back door, if you cannot see the bathroom within ten steps, turn around immediately.
If the bathroom is very far away,
or if you cannot see it at all, do not go outside.
A bathroom that far away is not a “bathroom,” and there are no continuing records from anyone who wandered far from this classroom during break time.
I believe they simply went out and could never find this classroom again.
Fourth: Once you enter the bathroom, get out as quickly as possible.
I recommend locking the stall door first and then doing your business.
Someone might come in, after all. As I wrote from the very beginning, the only real person here is you.
Fifth: This applies not only to the bathroom but to everything you do outside during break time.
You must return to the classroom before the bell that ends break time rings.
After that bell sounds, both the front and back doors stay shut and will not open.
In that state it seems only the Teachers can freely open the classroom doors, and as far as I know no survivor left in the hallway has ever lived through the following class period.
And whether you are in the bathroom, the classroom, or anywhere else—
do not look in the mirrors.
“The me inside the mirror” appears holding a bloodstained rusty pair of scissors, a brick, or empty-handed, and if you do not get away from the mirror quickly, death is unavoidable.
Once break time ends like that,
the same class period from the morning returns.
Then another break time.
It keeps repeating this way, but there is a lunch period in the middle.
Never, never, never follow the students’ procession during lunchtime.
Whether they leave in twos and threes or form a long line,
do not follow them under any circumstances.
And during lunchtime, never go to the rooftop, the bathroom, or the cafeteria.
However, when the lunch bell rings and you open the front door and look to the left, an old skybridge that is not normally there will suddenly appear. Close your eyes and run across it, and you will reach the school store.
There is no danger inside the school store.
No students, no Teachers, no one managing the place.
If you are hungry you can take and eat whatever you want, and you can even relax a little and rest.
But you must return to the classroom before lunchtime ends.
After lunch ends, class and break time will keep repeating again.
As time passes, the world outside the windows will gradually darken until it is filled with black fog. At that point you can make a choice.
You can attempt to escape.
Or you can choose to survive.
If you choose survival first:
During break time there are moments when the students all gather and leave together, just as they do at lunch.
At those times every single student will leave without exception, so it is easy to notice.
When everyone is gone, go out through the front door again and look left. You will see the same old skybridge as during lunchtime.
Cross it once more, but this time stay as quiet as possible and keep your body low.
I recommend crawling on all fours if you can.
Once you cross, the school store will appear again. You can sleep there.
At the far end of the store, under the desk in the bottled-water section, there are many chair cushions. That is where I slept.
When the proper time comes in the morning, you will wake on your own.
At that moment do not go back to sleep or remain in the store.
You must return to the classroom.
And the same day keeps repeating over and over.
It seems a natural “dismissal time” never arrives.
I have held out this way for a long time, but the repeating days never changed even once.
It is simply… a way to keep living, I suppose.
If you have decided to escape:
When the windows are filled with black fog and the survival route opens—that is, during the break when every student leaves—remain inside the classroom.
Not long after break ends, somewhere between ten and twenty students will return, though the number varies by situation.
Then the bell will ring, and instead of “class,” some kind of “game” will begin.
The escape method differs with each game, so keep that in mind and try to get out.
1. Confinement
This seems to be a fairly rare game.
The classroom lights will go out once and then come back on. When the lights return, every desk and chair will have vanished, and the classroom will have become very spacious, filled with lockers the size of people.
All the students will each choose a locker and climb inside.
You can pick any locker and go in.
An endless pitch-black space will stretch out before you, but do not be afraid. Simply enter; the locker door will close with a click like a lock engaging.
Then if you keep walking continuously in any direction, you will return to a classroom in your own school, they say.
At some point you will open your eyes and find yourself sitting in your own seat—that is the escape method.
2. The Lonely One
This seems to be the most common escape method.
The lights will go out once and come back on. Once the classroom is lit again, you will be left completely alone in the spacious room.
No matter what you do,
no matter what actions you take,
the windows will not open and the doors will stay shut, they say.
If you simply remain alone for a long time, at some point you will lose consciousness, and when you open your eyes you will wake somewhere in the basement of your own school building.
The problem is… looking at the records left behind, the length of time you must spend alone seems to differ for every person.
Some escaped in only a single minute,
but most took more than a week… and for others it was more than several years.
In that spacious classroom the only things that remain are one desk, one chair, a notebook, and a single ballpoint pen, they say.
The windows will all have turned completely black… I saw that in the records.
A precaution at this time: do not look at the keyhole of the door.
…. Looking at the record of one survivor who held out far too long and in the end could not hold out to the very last… I have even seen a record where they finally chose the easier path through the “keyhole” instead…
3. Necromancy
It is said to be the most common game, and the one with the lowest survival rate.
At this time, one of the people gathered in the classroom will be possessed by a ghost.
The ghost always seems different, but the most frequent is a ghost that runs around with a knife.
There are also ghosts that fill the entire classroom with darkness.
From this point the students who are not possessed begin to act like people who have come to their senses—
just like us who were dragged here.
From now on you must run from the ghost.
The front and back doors are unlocked, so flee with everything you have.
Somehow reach the first floor and go out through the main gate.
But no matter what happens while you run, never look back.
Even after you escape through the main gate, never look back.
Looking at the survivors’ records of fleeing, I will write down the things you must be careful of.
First: Be careful of the stairs.
There are cases where the “stairs” deceive survivors who believe they are descending while they flee.
In that case, look at the floor indicators attached along the stairwell.
If the upper- and lower-floor markers are attached upside down, walk the opposite way and go up.
Second: Never open another “door”—other classrooms, bathrooms, the faculty office, and so on—to hide because you think the ghost is chasing you.
It is dangerous even during the day; at night there is no chance of survival at all.
It is best to stick mainly to hallways, connecting bridges, open spaces, and stairs.
Third: Please think twice about escaping through the windows if you can.
Sometimes, instead of black fog, you will see a night-like landscape with an ordinary high-school playground, the main gate beyond it, the village, and so on.
At those times, even if you go out through the window you will not die from the fog, but you cannot prevent death from falling.
Climbing down a drainpipe is worth considering, but continuously moving quickly until you are outside the school gate seems to give the highest chance of survival.
I hope you somehow survive the ghost and escape from this place.
Escaping the school building is not the end—you must keep running after you pass through the main gate.
It seems that at night it is not only ghosts that wander the school.
Though most other things tend not to appear at all while you are being chased by a ghost…
. . . .
That is most of what I have figured out, written down here.
Until now I have been lucky enough to keep surviving through class time, break time, and lunchtime without incident.
But looking at the records people left behind, I was so terrified that I never even attempted to escape and simply kept choosing to hold out at the school store.
I think I counted up to a week, a few months… but now I no longer know how much time has passed.
As time goes on… the school becomes more and more horrific…
The longer I hold out…
the Teacher’s class periods grow longer and longer, and break times grow shorter and shorter.
Besides that, more and more strange things appear in the hallways, and during every class period something unknown passes through the corridor.
The students have begun approaching me more and more.
Horrific things you would only see in hell keep erupting here and there…
I think I need to escape now too.
I am scared out of my mind.
But if I simply remain here, like the records of those who stayed, I will either make a terrible choice or lose my mind completely.
Please. I pray that you escape.
. . .
Scattered throughout are other survivors’ thoughts and opinions, words scrawled in the grip of madness, and writings that appear to be last wills and final letters.
