233. A Golden-Glittering Notification
233. A Golden-Glittering Notification
***
"Hah."
Serin let out a deep sigh.
When she returned to the temple entrance, she slumped down against one side of it.
'...'
Her eyes blinked vacantly, and her thoughts refused to connect properly.
After the blood-draining battle against the Arch Lich that had lasted nearly twenty minutes, she had seized victory, but she felt utterly drained.
She had thought while preparing for today's stream that nothing much would happen. As if mocking that assumption, one unexpected event after another had exploded.
She could never have predicted the Outlaw appearing.
She had managed to take down the Arch Lich after a fierce, bloody fight, but right now, more than joy, she was filled with the desire to rest.
"...Ahh."
She slowly moved her lips as if loosening her throat and looked over her whole body once.
It was utterly crimson. Covered in blood, in the truest sense.
As if there wasn't a single unharmed spot, her entire body was stained with sticky blood.
And beyond that, she couldn't hide the fact that she was mentally exhausted.
Maybe the fatigue from overexerting herself clearing the Cave of Trials yesterday hadn't fully faded, because her mind felt hazy.
Ding! Ding!
At the edge of her vision, a notification window dyed gold kept flashing, demanding to be checked, but Serin swept a hand through her hair and slowly opened her mouth.
"Sorry I couldn't pay attention to the stream, everyone."
She had been so focused on the situation that she had completely forgotten about the stream. It couldn't be helped, but after yesterday and now today, she felt sorry for neglecting the broadcast.
[Why are you apologizing lololol]
[fr why is Rin apologizing]
[How are you supposed to deal with an Outlaw while paying attention to the stream lolololol]
[Is it just me who finds it kind of fascinating seeing Rin looking tired?]
[Please check the reward notification already!]
[Is it actually real that you got ambushed by an Outlaw and still soloed the Arch Lich...]
[What did you get? Just seeing the golden notification is making my heart flutter;]
[There were a ton of donations in between too]
Even so, with so many friendly chat messages, Serin felt unexpectedly warm and smiled faintly.
"Then I'll just check the rewards and end today's stream. I'm tired, so I think I need to rest."
With those words, Serin turned her gaze to the endlessly glittering golden notification.
A notification dyed gold meant she had obtained at least a Legendary-grade item. And since it wasn't immediately telling her what item she had acquired but instead glittering like that, it wasn't a consumable item or a high-priced shop item, either.
And so Serin checked the golden notification.
Ding-a-ling-a-ling!
A majestic background sound rang out, and a dazzling wave of golden light soon seized her vision.
*

Legendary-grade item: 'Ring Imbued with Jeremian's Lingering Will' acquired.
Legendary-grade item: 'Arch Lich's Jet-Black Robe' acquired.

Immediately after, two items appeared in the air.
One was an elegant ring with a blue glow, and the other was a robe similar in appearance to the one the Arch Lich had been wearing.
As she checked the Legendary rewards, Serin felt a bit of disappointment.
She had wondered if a Mythic item might drop. But the result was two Legendary items.
'Well, if another Mythic item dropped here, that would really be absurd.'
Hoping to get another item worth tens of millions of won in reality within a single day was asking too much.
"The rewards are a ring and a robe. Two Legendaries, well, that's not bad as a reward."
After saying that, Serin checked the chat window and couldn't help but tilt her head.
[Why did that drop here?]
[Can Jeremian's Ring drop here?]
[Looks like it dropped as a Cerberus reward?]
[Wtf lolololol]
[This is ridiculous]
[The Arch Lich robe is crazy expensive too]
[How much did Rin earn in a few hours of hunting?;]
[No but seriously, there's something going on between Another World, the admins, and Rin lolololol. Even for a lucky character, there's a limit. Is this actually a real game?]
[But then again, since she actually soloed the Arch Lich, the reward kind of seems justified]
[fr lolol]
[If it weren't for the Outlaw, Rin probably would've killed the Arch Lich even faster, and that's terrifying;]
The robe made sense as an Arch Lich item, but there were far more chat messages about the ring, so Serin grew curious.
"Is Jeremian's Ring not an item that drops from the temple?"
When she casually asked out of curiosity, the chat window surged rapidly, as if everyone was rushing to answer.
[It's a Legendary that only drops in the Northern Demon Realm]
[That's why people go into the Northern Demon Realm to get it]
[Killing Cerberus in the Arch Lich's temple and getting Jeremian's Ring? I guarantee the odds are lower than winning the lottery]
[Check the ring options]
[It's a set ring with Grianne's Ring]
[Is Rin going to gamble with the ring too? If you get Grianne's, there's probably at least one viewer who has it]
[No but lololol, you have to gift it to someone for that to work]
[If it's Rin, wouldn't there be people willing to gift it?]
[They say Grianne's is easier to get, but since some people have hit it big with this, it's worth something to just give it away]
As Serin quietly took in the rapidly scrolling chat, a familiar comment caught her eye.
'Grianne's Ring?'
It was definitely one of the rings she owned.
It was the Legendary ring she had gotten as a random reward while hunting in the Tomb of the Frozen Knight last time.
The person who acquired it couldn't equip it, and it could only be gifted, with even its options being random—a peculiar item.
Serin remembered it clearly.
It was too awkward to gift, so it had just been rotting in a slot in her inventory.
'Is this kind of coincidence even possible?'
Finding the situation amusing, Serin immediately opened her inventory.
In one corner of her inventory sat an item labeled 'Ring Imbued with Grianne's Lingering Will.'
"If it's Grianne's Ring, I already have one."
Serin spoke as she took out an elegant jewelry box.
[???]
[When did you get it?]
[Wtf lololol]
[Whoa, what, you have that too?]
[You have Grianne's too?]
[Let's go gamblinggggggggg]
[Whoa, but to do this, there has to be someone Rin gifted it to]
[Gamble gogogogo]
[lolololol no but it's insanely expensive, would she really give Jeremian's Ring to a viewer]
From the chat, it seemed like Grianne and Jeremian had some kind of connection, but she had no idea what they meant.
"Um, first let me check the options on the items I got as rewards. I don't really understand."
With that, she first checked the Arch Lich's Jet-Black Robe.
Ding!

The moment she saw the description and effects, Serin nodded unconsciously.
'This has to be expensive.'
The options were simply too good, no matter who looked at them.
So good that she wondered if there could be any better options for a Wizard Class. It even appeared to be a Legendary item belonging to a set, so the set effect was surely excellent as well.
Then, next was the Ring Imbued with Jeremian's Lingering Will.
Ding!

Ring Imbued with Jeremian's Lingering Will.

- Sale Price: 30 million Silver Coins.
- Listing on the Auction House incurs a massive fee.

*
As she read the description, Serin's brow furrowed slightly.
It was similar to the description of Grianne's Ring she had checked last time, but also very different.
Grianne's Ring had options like the acquirer being unable to equip it, unable to sell it, and unable to list it on the exchange.
Jeremian's Ring, on the other hand, could be equipped by me, the person who acquired it, and I could dispose of it by selling it to a jewelry shop or listing it on the Auction House—a major difference.
However, the fact that its options were randomly determined the moment it was equipped bothered her.
"Looking at the options, it does seem like an interesting ring, but what exactly does it mean that it's a set with Grianne's Ring?"
It was easy to guess that Grianne and Jeremian had been lovers, but she couldn't understand why they were a set just from the item options.
[It has a hidden option]
[What, is Rin a newbie lololol?]
[Jeremian and Grianne have synergy with each other]
[It's really famous, how do you not know this?]
[The moment Grianne's Ring and Jeremian's Ring are exchanged and equipped, the chance of good options appearing increases dramatically]
[But that's also gambling lolololololol]
[The options are random, but if you exchange them, there's a weighting that makes good options appear more often?]
[What if Rin has both rings? What then?]
[What do you mean, what then? You just hand one over and equip them crosswise, that's it, what lolol]
[If it's Rin, she can just give away Grianne's Ring, yeah]
[Are you going to draw a viewer to receive the ring?]
[I could receive a ring from Rin...?]
[I can't resist this]
Leaning against the temple entrance, Serin watched the rapidly scrolling chat, then glanced at the ring in her hand.
In the end, it seemed like gambling, and she thought it was quite a hassle.
She understood the set effect from the chat window.
In short, there was a huge benefit to handing the rings to each other and equipping them.
The chat window continued to be utterly chaotic.
Viewers were flooding the chat, saying they would prepare Jeremian's Ring and asking her to give them the ring.
Serin let out a blank laugh.
The person who would give away the rice cake wasn't even thinking about it, but the viewers were already drinking the kimchi brine.
With that thought, she slowly moved her lips.
"No matter what, it's a ring, so exchanging it with a viewer feels a bit much. So please don't go out of your way to buy the ring, okay?"
[Aw why...]
[You're not going to do it?]
[lololol aw, that's too bad]
There were a few disappointed chat messages, but what couldn't be done couldn't be done.
And so Serin thought blankly.
'It seems like the standard method is probably to hand over the untradeable Grianne's Ring.'
It wasn't that she distrusted the viewers, but no matter how much it was just an item, a ring was a ring.
The thought of handing them over crosswise and putting on the rings felt extremely strange, even for Serin.
'Still, since I got it, I do want to try the gamble.'
So after hesitating, Serin simply opened the community window. Then she went into her friends list.
On her short friends list, there were only people with extraordinary name value.
- Rank 8: Plea (Sua).
- Pro gamer with an unrivaled career: Jeanne d'Arc (Eunha).
There were also a few others on the friends list, like G1 players, but the two people she felt closest to were probably just these two.
Moreover, both of them were currently online, so the situation was perfect for striking up a conversation.
"Now that I think about it, it's probably right to do it with someone I'm at least somewhat close to."
After casually broaching the subject, Serin then,
as if it were nothing, dropped a bombshell.
"So, should I whisper Plea or Jeanne d'Arc?"
