Because I'm a Woman Now
The door creaked. When Kyle's voice didn't answer, Sera hesitated at the threshold, then pushed it open and stepped inside.
The room was dark. His silhouette lay stretched across the bed in easy repose, half-swallowed by the shadows. Something in Sera's chest sank. Her own mind was a wreck, crowded with nothing but him — and there he was, sleeping as if the world had never asked a single thing of him.
Idiot...
Her toes twitched, ready to turn around. Her body, though, was already carrying her toward the bed. In the end she eased herself down beside him, careful not to make a sound.
His breathing was close enough to feel. He still hadn't moved. That indifference scraped at her nerves, and a sour mix of frustration and some hollow ache she couldn't name worked its way through her. She turned her back to him.
A thick arm slid around her waist.
He'd been awake the whole time. Kyle pulled her in from behind, fitting himself against the curve of her spine.
"You're here."
The voice was low and warm. Sera caught the pleased note tucked inside it, quiet but unmistakable.
"It's a contract. I didn't have a choice."
She was still angry, and she made sure he heard it.
"I know. If you hadn't come, I was going to come get you."
"Pervert..."
She said it — and felt the hurt and the irritation drain out of her anyway. He had been looking for her too. That single fact swept through her, gentle and devastating, and something tight in her chest finally let go.
"From now on, don't overthink it. Just come. Whenever you want."
His breath grazed her ear. She shivered.
"This is your place, after all."
Your place. The words sent a current through her, bright and involuntary.
"Yes..."
She had to fight her own body to get even that much out. Kyle's reply was almost a murmur against her hair.
"Good night."
Sera couldn't answer. Her heart was slamming against her ribs — loud, frantic, impossible to ignore. Only after it finally slowed did she manage to fall asleep.
"Eat up."
"Thank you. You too, Kyle."
Breakfast, same as always. Kyle and I at the table, the ordinary rhythm of a morning that had somehow become routine. I was working my way through the food when he asked, all casual mischief,
"Did you put on the panties I washed for you?"
"Kh— cough, cough—"
It hit the quiet meal like a brick. I choked, eyes watering, and had to pound my own chest before I could speak.
"W-wh— what is that supposed to mean?"
"Just curious."
He'd knocked me completely off balance and then gone right back to eating, as if he hadn't said a thing. I wanted to throw something at him.
"Don't be curious."
I swallowed the absolutely and settled for glaring. Kyle shrugged.
"I washed them so carefully. It's only natural I'd wonder. Don't you think?"
He would not let it go. Not even after I'd shut him down as firmly as I knew how.
"I'm not wearing them. I'm throwing them out. Just so you know."
...I had been going to wear them.
He'd washed those panties with such ridiculous care. Ignoring that had felt impossible. But I hadn't expected him to sit there and tease me about it over breakfast, and the second he did, every last scrap of that feeling evaporated.
"Alright, I get it. This oppa will be on his way."
"Hey!!!"
"You shouldn't talk to your oppa like that."
Even after I'd told him I was throwing them away, he just kept going, perfectly unbothered. Then he said something had come up, pulled on his clothes, and walked out.
"Ugh..."
He really was the most infuriating man alive.
I came back to the room after breakfast. Without him in it, the silence felt wrong — too still, too empty.
The panties were sitting on the bed where he'd left them. White cotton, washed clean, soft and faintly warm from the sun. Looking at them brought his words back, that easy smile still attached.
I washed them so carefully. It's only natural I'd wonder.
"Ha... who even asked you to wash them..."
I muttered it like a curse, but some corner of my heart refused to agree. I had to throw them away. I'd said I would. Playing along with his teasing was out of the question.
And yet, the moment I pictured myself actually throwing them out, my hands wouldn't move. It felt as if discarding them would mean discarding whatever he'd put into them — the care, the attention, the part of him that had bothered at all.
"They're just underwear... so why do I care this much..."
I told myself that a dozen times and still couldn't look away. I picked them up with my fingertips.
He had washed these. Dried them. His scent clung to the fabric, faint and unmistakable — a trace of Kyle, folded into a pair of white cotton panties.
...I've lost my mind. How am I supposed to wear these...
I couldn't. Every time I put them on I would think of him. I should throw them away. There was no other option.
.....
I folded them instead. Tucked them deep into the back of the drawer and told myself I had no intention of wearing them. Ignoring the trouble he'd gone to would have been too much. That was all. I was only keeping them. That was all.
The drawer clicked shut, and the strength went out of my fingers. I had put away a single pair of underwear. Why did my chest feel like this?
"God... what am I even doing."
I sat on the edge of the bed and let out a long breath.
If I were a man, I would never have thought twice about a pair of underwear. I wouldn't have been pulled around by someone's hands, or someone's scent, or the ghost of someone else's effort left behind in the fabric. So why did any of it matter this much?
The answer surfaced before I could stop it — a sensation branded so deep I couldn't pretend it wasn't there.
Kyle's hands on my breasts. His fingertips grazing my nipples, and my whole body locking up, breath snagging in my throat as if it might snap. I had tried to tell myself it was only stimulation. Nothing more.
But when he pinched them — a light, tugging twist — my entire body had hummed, a low electric ache running through every nerve. When he rolled them in slow circles I had writhed, gasping, my hips moving without permission. And when he pinched down hard, the pleasure had torn through me so completely I came apart. I came, fully, helplessly, while he played with me however he wanted.
That pleasure had been real. That was the problem.
Another memory rose on the heels of the first. A pressure deep in my lower belly, as if something were pressing into the very center of me. His hand, or his body — gentle, relentless, never quite letting go. A wave had rolled up from my womb and swallowed everything, and I had broken before I could even think to refuse.
The sound of my own breathing. The hammer of my heart. Still vivid. Still right there.
A sensation no man could ever feel.
The thought landed, and my chest went cold.
"I..."
A woman's pleasure. I had learned it in full — nipples worked until my body shook, a womb driven to climax. How could someone who had felt all of that still call herself a man?
"Haa... haa..."
That isn't... I have to say that isn't true...
My mouth wouldn't open.
The memory of coming undone under Kyle's hands. Pleasure so sharp I couldn't forget it if I tried. The way I had called him oppa yesterday, the word slipping out of me as if it belonged there. All of it sat on my tongue and held it down.
"Nnh... kh..."
Nothing came out. I shook my head hard, desperate for air, and my eyes snagged on the mirror in the corner of the room.
A woman looked back at me. Her face was faintly drawn, breath coming fast through parted lips. Slack, unfocused eyes. Hair a dark tangle around her cheeks. A slender thing that made you want to gather her up and keep her safe.
Then her expression sharpened, something almost cruel entering it, and she looked straight at me.
"I'M NOOOOT—!!!"
"Sera?"
The scream came from upstairs. Kyle was moving before it finished — up the stairs, through the front door, across the living room, the bedroom door thrown wide.
Sera was on the floor. Both hands fisted in her hair, her chest heaving in short, broken pulls. Her breathing was shallow and ragged, coming apart at the edges.
Kyle crossed the room quietly and knelt in front of her. His shadow fell over her, and she couldn't lift her head. She just gasped, small and raw.
"Sera. Look at me. What happened?"
Low. Gentle. The kind of voice that made you believe, just for a second, that if you followed it you would be safe.
He reached out and closed his hand around her shoulder. Her whole body flinched. His palm was hot against her skin, and she felt the faint squeeze of his fingers — a pressure so slight it shouldn't have mattered. Her heart lurched anyway.
"I... what do I do..."
The words had no strength in them. They trembled on the way out, fraying between breaths.
"I'm... I'm not a woman... but... I feel like I'm losing myself. More and more."
Kyle heard what sat underneath. This wasn't defiance. It wasn't even denial, not really. It was a last, desperate attempt to hold on to herself.
The girl who had always insisted she was a man was coming apart. He saw the opening for what it was.
"Sera. What you're feeling isn't your fault."
Her eyes flickered. She wanted to reject it — he could see that — but the words had already found a hairline crack and slipped inside.
His fingers left her shoulder and traveled, slowly, to the nape of her neck. Warmth climbed her skin, and a shiver ran the length of her spine. Run, something in her said. Her body did not move.
"The body answers to hormones. Mood. Emotion. Desire. All of it starts there."
His voice stayed even. His breath, though, touched her skin, and her own breathing grew shorter still.
"Your mind can be a man's. But right now your body is answering to a flood of female hormones, and you can't will that away. No one can."
The hand at her nape drifted down, stroking along her arm. Sera's fingers twitched, an aborted attempt to catch his wrist — but the sensation was already spreading, blooming outward from every place he touched.
No...
She said it inwardly, and a heat she couldn't name rose in the center of her chest.
"So when that feeling comes... in that moment, it's all right to think of yourself as a woman."
It's all right to think of myself as a woman...?
She knew the words were dangerous. She knew it the way you know a drop is coming, the second before the ground gives out. And still, threaded through that danger, something like relief began to seep in.
"When the wave hits, don't fight it. Let your body go, just for a little while. Then it stops being frightening."
His gaze held her and did not let go. In those words Sera heard a sweeter thing still — the suggestion that she didn't have to keep fighting at all.
The moment they settled into her, his hand slid around her waist and drew her in. The heat of his palm, the firm press of it against the small of her back, took her balance out from under her. She swallowed a breath and flinched, but the strength to pull away was already leaving her.
"You only have to accept it for a little while."
He said it from very close. His breath brushed her earlobe, and a fine tremor ran down her spine.
She knew. She knew those words were a door she should not walk through.
And still, from somewhere deep in her chest, another voice was growing louder. It's all right. You can. Just this once.
"Only for a moment. Only when it's too much. Only then — think of yourself as a woman."
Kyle's voice never rose. It didn't have to. Something in it left no room to refuse.
The words sank into her, and her eyes wavered.
Only for a moment... only when it's too much...
As if something else were moving her hand, Sera reached down and closed her fingers around Kyle's right wrist — the one still wrapped at her waist. She was trembling, but it wasn't weakness. It was taut, bright, the shake of a decision catching up to the body that had already made it.
Kyle looked down at her, something like surprise crossing his face. Their eyes met. Sera drew his wrist toward her, and set his hand on her breast.
A single point of contact, placed there by her own will. The air between them changed completely.
Her eyes unfocused, just slightly. Her lips parted.
