Prologue
Magic. Academies.
I'd run into both so many times the whole idea had gone stale—and yet, for all that endless exposure, I still didn't actually know what either of them was. Yell a battle cry and some absurdly broken energy comes roaring out. Breathe wrong, and mana just dribbles out of you.
And an academy—what even is that? Smashing the ceiling counts as a daily quest, and the moment anyone gets bored, a building goes airborne. A favorite hangout for Class-1 hazardous materials who look perfectly capable of burning a kingdom to ash and still having power to spare.
Is that even a place a person can live?
From: Altair Academy
Subject: We sincerely congratulate you on your final acceptance.
Shii...t.
The second most horrifying letter in existence, right after a military draft notice.
I'm thrilled! I'm excited! This is fun!
I'm fucked!
I am so fucked!
If I'd been in my right mind, I wouldn't have so much as glanced at an application. So why did I pass? Because I didn't submit the damn thing. That miserable bitch did.
Right. So this was the situation: I'd possessed some psycho of a girl who'd applied to a hellhole like this and actually landed a final acceptance.
You could say all I had to do was file an Enrollment Renunciation Form. But honestly, I was curious. And if it was magic, then even if I died, I'd die on the spot—so it probably wouldn't hurt.
Probably.
Probably?
The problem.

Ooh~ go on, keep trying to scare me~
(clown meme)
I can just drop out~
I'm fucked! Even in another world I have to choke on the stench of studying ahead?!
Fine. I'll grind. Fuck it. First I need to figure out what magic even is, right? I don't want to die. And this body—honestly? It's stupidly pretty.
Today, I was disappointed in God. Or maybe I ought to be grateful.
Those lunatics who said studying was fun. Yeah. Look at something once and it's memorized. Glance at a formula and towers of pure truth start rising in my head, one after another. Of course it's fun when your brain works like that. At this pace, I could knock out half the prerequisite range.
"...Excuse me?"
