The Females Must Stop Crying Out Like That!
It won't do if the females keep crying out like that! Today was the day I, Primrose, learned magic from Sorcia and Daisy. Sorcia went first.
"Magic possesses many attributes."
The most common, balanced, and versatile were the four major elemental magics—water, fire, wind, and earth. Darkness and light specialized in support and auxiliary spells such as interference or spatial transition gates, and they boasted overwhelming efficiency in magic enchantment. These attributes were usually decided not by one's own will or taste, but by the "color" of the magical power inherited from one's parents.
When Sorcia spoke of my own magical color, she said it was colorless. It gave off no sensation at all, closer to transparent. Because of that, while I could use any attribute, my compatibility was low, so the power would be weak and the magic consumption enormous.
After the lesson, Daisy stared at me with an accusing look.
"Rose, you're seriously using it exactly the way we taught you last time, right!?"
"Yes… I activated it by restructuring nearby materials using the formula you both taught me."
"Haaaaaaaah!? Rose, you're not converting your own magic power—you're restructuring the surrounding matter?"
"That's right."
Daisy looked at me with an expression of pure disbelief, as if she'd just discovered a Synapse who broke common sense. Beside her, Sorcia asked carefully.
"Miss Rose, what we taught you was to convert your own magical power through the formula to activate the spell. You truly did it that way, correct?"
"Was that what you meant? I simply… overlaid my magic onto the surrounding materials and rewove their structure. Is that really so strange?"
"Of course it's strange!! Interfering with external matter using your own magic power? And restructuring it? Magic can only be manifested with your own power! That's why the quantity of magical power matters. Yet you're completely ignoring that!"
Daisy declared my magic impossible. Sorcia, however, called it the dream magic every mage longed for.
"Miss Primrose, just to be safe, please do not speak of this to anyone except Miss Daisy and myself."
"Why not?"
"If the world learns that only Miss Primrose can use magic in such a way, it will cause no end of trouble."
So I'd become a test subject. I nodded in understanding.
After that, Daisy began explaining mage ranks. From the kindergarten level known as Beginner, to the Advanced rank that people called the stage of new society members, all the way to Master—the pinnacle of a single field.
Beginner — Kindergarten level
Advanced — New society member stage
Master — Pinnacle of a specific field
Archmage — National-level title; only two hundred exist across the entire Serena Union
Legend — Only three in existence
Afterward, when Sorcia and Daisy were about to leave, saying they would come up with a teaching method suited to me since I cast magic through pure "will," I spoke up.
"By the way, you said titles are only given to mages at the Archmage level and above, right?"
I showed them my ID card. "There's a title written here that says Mage of Fate. What does this mean?"
Sorcia answered, "If someone is especially important to the Union, they sometimes grant a special title so the Union can manage them directly."
"I'm important?"
"You are a Synapse—one of the few remaining members of a nearly extinct race."
So it was because I was a rare species. I'd wondered if it was due to my magical power, but since I'd never cast magic in front of others, that couldn't be the reason.
The next day I studied magic using the newly tailored teaching method. Yet among all the spells I learned, Haru possessed overwhelmingly superior talent in the healing category compared to Primrose.
So Haru used healing magic to treat Daye.
"Haaah, haaah! My big brother is personally healing me! Thanks to that healing my body has grown, and now I've become a proper adult. I think I'm ready to receive brother's ring with no problems at all!"
"You can't say things like that in front of other people."
"I know! Then, in front of others, I'll act like the trendy elegant young lady and say, 'Brother… since it's my first time, please be gentle with me.'"
I was once again dealing with Yu Daye, who somehow managed to make even that sound cute. Suddenly I sensed a presence. Since it would be bad if a human like me was caught using magic, I stopped and turned around.
"Haru hallo~"
The woman who entered with the light footsteps of a childhood friend dropping by the neighbor's house was none other than Nagase Yohiko—the idol who had suddenly appeared one day, declared we were getting married, tricked me, and made me sign the marriage papers.
"Having a nice love story with your little sister, brother?"
"Yes! Right now brother is gazing at me with an irredeemable siscon look in his eyes and preparing to adore me! In short, little sister is the cutest in the universe! Ready state!"
"Oh really~?"
"Yohiko… why did you come in?"
"What kind of greeting is that to your own wife the moment she arrives?"
"What wife! It's just a contract!"
It seemed Yohiko had a bad relationship with her parents over money matters. She wanted to become independent because of it. But as a minor who still needed a guardian, she required a sham marriage to protect her assets and break free.
That was why we had gotten married. Then Yohiko's smartphone suddenly rang.
"That is the smartphone said to exist only in legends!"
Since Daye was stuck at home and we hadn't bought her one, she stared at the device every student owned as if it were a mythical artifact.
I should probably get her one…
Yohiko frowned at her phone, then answered. The moment she did, a scream exploded from the other side.
"Yohiko!!! A certified letter from a lawyer just arrived demanding we return all the money we've been entrusted with!?"
"What are you talking about! We're using every cent of that money for business right now—how are we supposed to return it?"
"I raised you from a child and this is how you repay me!?"
"Yohiko, you bitch! Hey! Hey hey hey hey!"
Yohiko replied coolly, "The contract stated that you would 'keep' my money as my guardian until I became an adult. Now that I am an adult, you must return it."
She continued without emotion, "That has nothing to do with me. It's written in the contract. I have legally become independent, so you are required to return it. The lawyer's contact information is in the letter you received. Just call them."
After a few more exchanges, she added, "Oh, I almost forgot—your account withdrawals and asset sales have probably all been frozen by now."
Then she ended the call with, "This number will be deleted, so if you need to contact me in the future, go through my lawyer."
"Wow!! That was totally a scene from a morning drama! First time seeing one in real life!"
"Daye, you shouldn't say that."
"It's fine. It's the truth, and this is the last time anyway."
Having a lot of money really wasn't always a good thing.
"Anyway, that's been taken care of, but there's one problem left."
"What?"
"Since I'm an idol, news of my marriage would damage my image. They said they'd handle it quietly. In exchange, they asked for one favor."
"What is it?"
"Nothing major. They want your little sister Primrose to wear clothes from their sponsor whenever she goes out."
The moment Yohiko finished speaking, Daye's eyes began to sparkle.
"Woowaaah! Is this the clothing sponsorship I've only ever heard about!? Little-sister-two Rose, you're incredible!"
"Daye, do you want some too? I could get you some."
"Ehh… how could an ordinary girl like me…"
"You're plenty cute yourself."
"Like a sickly heroine, you mean!? But sadly my route is already completed. All that's left for me is to receive heaps of love from brother and breathe in his arms. A pathetic life with no other options remains."
Yohiko still wasn't used to Daye's speeches no matter how many times she heard them. She gave an awkward smile and continued.
"And there's one more request… Miss Rose needs to meet the company president's son."
"Meet his son? Yohiko, do you have a secret child somewhere?"
"Haaaaah! It's the chairman's son, not mine! What exactly do you think I am!?"
"Right, of course. My bad for misunderstanding! Sorry. But why does the son want to meet?"
"The chairman's son is an Infected."
"What—an Infected?"
"The big-shot president's son is approaching brother's little sister! And that son is an Infected!"
"Why mention an Infected?"
"Daye's condition came back stable in the latest test, right?"
"It did. I've been working hard on it, after all."
I had been applying various experiments to Daye as data, after all.
"The sticky love of her hardworking brother resides inside my body. Saying it that way makes the pink flower garden in my belly—symbol of womanhood—throb!"
Now familiar with Daye's antics, Yohiko ignored her and went on.
"It seems they think there might be some secret method because you have a little sister like that, so they want to meet. In return, I'll do one thing for you."
"What?"
"Even if it's only on paper, I'm your wife. So…"
She hesitated, then spoke.
"Y-you can touch my breasts… if you want! But only over my clothes! And only in a place with no people, for no more than three minutes a day!"
No matter what, there was no way I would fall for something like that. I barely managed to swallow back the 'Thank you so much!' that nearly burst from my true feelings.
"Brother! Please take off my bra and touch them! This is a super-rare event where you can grope the real breasts of your legal little sister Yu Daye, whose blood isn't even connected! These events usually happen after the route is cleared… Ah! Since my route is already complete, this is a belated event! Therefore, brother, please enjoy it to the fullest right now!"
You, stop trying to strip in front of other people.
While we were making a racket, Hunya kicked her door open and emerged. Dark circles hung heavily beneath her eyes. She poked only her face out, hair a complete mess. Her eyes were still bloodshot from staring at the monitor, yet her cuteness remained untouched.
"Hunya failed her raid because the females kept crying out outside! Females, if you're going to have a married-couple fight with Haru, do it quietly!"
"Wh-what do you mean couple!! B-brother…"
Hunya reacted more intensely than usual, probably because she'd been interrupted at a critical moment. Still, calling them "females" even to Daye and Yohiko seemed too far, so I was about to tell her to restrain herself when—
"Daye has officially become brother's woman! Does this mean Daye will also obtain the title of brother's wife with this opportunity!?"
Daye, the fact that I had thought you might be normal for even a second made me the real fool.
Come to think of it, no matter how much of a "Hunya fan" Yohiko was, hearing herself called a female should have upset her. I worried, but as expected, Hunya's cuteness was invincible. She showed no particular reaction. Yet for some reason her face was flushed as if excited. Looking closer, I thought I saw red marks like rope burns pressed deeply into her skin… but they vanished. My imagination?
I sent Hunya back into her room.
"Hunya, if it's too noisy, close the door and play your game."
"Haru doesn't smell!"
As expected of Hunya, she said something that only concerned herself and disappeared back inside.
