Chapter Title: Roughly the Sexiest in Another World 7
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Since Anais was around, we decided to use the Water and Grass Inn for the time being.
What should I do from here? Taking on relatively simple missions that I could handle alone to build up experience as an adventurer sounded pretty good.
There were two reasons I was leaning that way.
First, this other world had levels, so hunting monsters would let me grow—and that made it worth risking some danger.
That said, I knew my limits.
For a modern guy like me, facing life-or-death situations was way too scary.
Which was why I needed a reliable companion to handle the dangerous fights. And that was my second reason.
The kind of reliable companion I had in mind came with some pretty strict conditions.
You could wrap up a chat with someone you just met using simple keywords, but someone you'd keep by your side constantly was different.
They'd need frequent hypnosis and fine-tuned adjustments.
Something like "Become my slave," which stripped away their free will entirely, was too powerful. One word and you could wipe out their personality or charm.
Sure, betrayal would be impossible, but it'd feel like walking around with a doll.
For me, hypnosis was supposed to be fun.
I had to approach it with the right mindset, or what was the point?
That was why finding a woman who fit the criteria took a ton of patience.
It'd be great if one just appeared before me like fate intended, but reality had other plans.
For starters, heading out to the square, there were biological women everywhere—tripping over them, practically.
I hung around for about an hour, scrutinizing the women passing by, but most fell short of my standards.
"How bad are the monster numbers gonna get?"
"Who knows, isn't even Marn getting dangerous now?"
Then I happened to overhear two guys chatting in serious tones.
"Yeah, extermination quests have been piling up lately."
"We might have to head out and fight ourselves."
"Nah, with the Hero around, that won't happen."
The Hero, huh. Leila had mentioned him.
They send proxies to worlds that need saving. So someone with a grand title like Hero was probably,
a proxy for another god, high chance. Depending on my starting options, I might've been called the Hero too.
If the Hero really was another god's proxy, he'd be the last person I'd want to run into in this world.
But would he actually get in my way? Nah.
He could handle this world's crises on his own, and I'd focus on the fun stuff.
That was ideal.
I stopped eyeing the women and headed to the Adventurer's Guild.
It was packed, just like yesterday.
Today, I was here as an adventurer ready to pick up a mission.
A ton of people were clustered around the mission board.
"Bordo Dungeon exploration party needs a support!"
"Looking for a third to carry gear. Share of loot included."
"Anyone wanna hunt goblins? Need one more."
Seemed like this was the spot to pick missions and recruit party members too.
Party leaders would call out for what they needed, and interested adventurers would step up.
That kind of back-and-forth was happening everywhere.
I sidled up to the board first and checked out the missions.

There were plenty of missions, but most were boring as hell. The village too small or what?
Goblin extermination was the hot one, but I'd done plenty of that yesterday. Not in the mood for more.
Dungeon exploration... That sounded fun. My level was 9, and I had combat skills, so I could probably join a party.
"We're heading to the bottom floor of Bordo Dungeon today. Need one fighter—step up if you're confident!"
Perfect timing—someone was recruiting.
Everyone started buzzing about the handsome young guy.
"Oh, it's Salik?"
"He's going for the clear, huh."
"No one's reached the end of Bordo Dungeon yet, right?"
"It just got discovered recently. First to fully explore it gets Silver rank for sure."
Nice vibe. Salik already had a few skilled partners with him.
Maybe I'd tag along?
"I'd like to join."
I raised a hand casually and walked over.
"New face."
Salik's expression soured. Why's he looking at me like I'm the enemy?
"I registered as an adventurer yesterday."
"Pfft, hahaha!"
What the hell. Everyone started laughing.
"Some idiot just rolled in..."
Salik didn't even hide his disgust.
"Dressed like a slob, no tools, no gear, registered yesterday?
No room for trash like that. Go pick herbs for a year first."
"Hey! Salik, ease up—the newbie might cry."
"Just gotta pull his weight, right?"
Salik grabbed my collar and yanked my face close.
"You look like some spoiled brat. Don't take this world lightly. Spend a year gathering herbs, and keep your head down till then."
Unbelievable. He wanna fight or what?
At first, I figured if he rejected me, oh well—his loss.
But this pissed me off.
"Let go."
Salik snorted.
"What, you gonna make me?"
"Ooh, fight!"
"Salik versus the newbie!"
If he wanted to ruin his life that bad, who was I to say no?
I was just about to snap my fingers—consequences be damned—
when the guild doors swung open, and everyone turned like they were magnetized.
"Gah..."
"No way."
The chatter had been so loud, I'd have missed anything short of this.
Right on cue, the woman who strode in shut everyone up with her stunning face alone.
Petite features, delicate and girlish, but with provocative eyes and a sharp catlike jawline.
Elegant platinum blonde tied to one side, a slender figure.
Yet her plump thighs and well-developed hips demanded attention.
The annoyance from moments ago vanished from my mind. I'd found a woman who met the criteria.
Her looks even exceeded my expectations. On par with Bellera, that epitome of feminine beauty.
Never thought I'd run into another one like that.
"That's gotta be her..."
"No doubt."
People whispered, pointing at the girl.
"Diamond-rank hunter."
"Why's the Lofty Hunter in a backwater like Marn?"
"First time seeing her in person."
I'd only been stunned by her face, but the crowd's reaction suggested her identity was the real shocker.
Diamond-rank hunter.
Someone who shouldn't be here.
As the murmurs flew, the girl ignored the stares like she was used to it and marched straight to the receptionist.
"H-how can I help you?"
Facing the flustered receptionist, the girl spoke.
"I'm here on His Majesty's orders. Emergency mission directive."
"Emergency mission...!"
The crowd stirred. What the hell? I joined in the surprise.
Every time the girl opened her mouth, the guild went dead silent.
"The selection for the next Hero candidate has begun."
"You mean..."
"Should I explain the mission here?"
"W-wait! Guild Master!"
The receptionist bolted, and just as quick, the Guild Master came rushing out.
"This way, please."
The Guild Master led the girl into a back room.
Even after she left, everyone was buzzing with excitement.
No clue what was going on. Pirate age or something?
Salik had turned around, yapping with his crew.
"Emergency mission! This is our shot—straight to Gold rank!"
I was already forgotten.
Whatever. Fighting this guy wasn't the point.
A year picking herbs? Barely started adventuring?
Meaningless to me. I could make these guys grind achievements diligently.
What I needed to do now was crystal clear.
Subjugate the Diamond-rank girl who'd shown up in this village by chance.
While everyone chattered, I slipped quietly out of the guild.
