Chapter Title: Killed Orc Champion at Lv1 (3)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
‘I did it.’
The duel with the Orc Champion. Rokan had finally accomplished what had seemed utterly impossible.
If he hadn’t obtained the Orc tribe battle axe from the duel with the Orc Warrior, or if Berserk’s duration had been just a few seconds shorter, it would have been Rokan collapsing instead.
But in the end, Rokan stood firm in his place.
‘A win’s a win.’
Feeling the power surging through his entire body along with the white glow, Rokan’s reddened eyes returned to normal.
Stagger.
The level-up effect, which restored all status ailments, health, and mana, couldn’t fully dispel the aftereffects of Berserk.
Rokan staggered greatly from the sudden sense of disconnect, but no one underestimated him or charged in. He had proven his warrior’s honor himself.

Another Legend-grade title acquired!
And even a Rare-grade title he hadn’t expected!
‘What the...’
Rokan clenched his fist as if to say he’d done it, then grew puzzled. The problem was the Rare-grade title ‘Honored Orc Warrior’.
No more hunting Orcs? That moment shattered his plan to make the Orc Camp his main hunting ground.
“Getting a Legend-grade title is great, but this one...”
Instead of forming a trust relationship with Orcs—a race and faction he could never truly ally with—he could no longer gain experience from hunting them.
He had no choice but to scrap his plan of picking off Orc Warriors one by one through duels.
“No helping it.”
It was regrettable, but unavoidable. There were plenty of ways to level up without Orc Warriors. Rokan accepted the fact willingly.
‘This could be useful somehow...’
At the same time, he started racking his brains for ways to make use of this new title.
‘Wait, is that possible right now?’
Then, something occurred to him. A fact that only Rokan knew within The Lord so far. Using it could lead to some interesting developments.
“Chit, may the warrior’s soul be with you.”
The Orc Warriors’ greeting snapped Rokan out of his mad grinning. Despite having killed their chieftain, the Orc Champion, their attitude toward him was nothing but respectful.
“May the warrior’s soul be with you.”
Regaining his senses, Rokan echoed their greeting. Some might mock such actions as role-playing, but Rokan knew better. Treating The Lord as just a game was a mistake.
Another world, another reality.
Only by viewing it that way and acting accordingly could one play smoothly and approach deeper truths.
Those who treated NPCs lightly or dismissively struggled to reach the top.
As soon as the Berserk aftereffects wore off, Rokan left the Orc Camp for now. He had an idea, but with the plan modified, there were preparations to make.
He also needed to level up a bit more, and claim certain spots before it was too late.
* * *
After a long walk back to Kton, Rokan first checked his status window.
“Whew, impressive.”
<Rokan>

Rokan had jumped 18 levels from defeating the Orc Champion alone.
If he’d kept going and taken out all the Orc Warriors right there, he’d have hit 30 easily. He smacked his lips in regret, but it couldn’t be helped.
‘Well, this much from one fight isn’t bad.’
In truth, it was more than enough—overflowing, even. The Lord was notorious for tough leveling.
Of course, it was because players weren’t yet used to combat and struggled with same-level monsters, but at present, hitting 30 earned you expert status. Rokan's speed—19 levels in one fight—was staggering.
But Rokan didn’t dwell on it. Early levels were something he could raise anytime he wanted. More important was that his contingencies didn’t go awry.
“Let’s see, level 19 now... Close call.”
The quest he’d planned to tackle right after getting ‘Killed Orc Warrior at Lv1’ had a level restriction: under 20.
He’d nearly overshot it by one-shotting the Orc Champion, but fortunately, he hadn’t hit 20 yet.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Rokan headed straight to the guard post in one corner of the city and picked up the quest.
[Sewer Cleanup][Quest]
Rats have infested Kton’s sewers lately. Hunt the sewer rats, cut off their tails as proof, and receive a fitting reward.
-Limit: None
-Success Condition: Obtain Sewer Rat Tails!
-Reward: 2 Copper per Sewer Rat Tail
‘Fitting my ass.’
It was a rip-off. The reward was absurdly low. And the sewer rats weren’t weak either.
Their large front teeth were sharp enough to kill even job-changers if they weren’t careful, up to level 5. And in the sewers, they swarmed in packs of twenty or more.
‘Even low-level monsters, twenty of them...’ Thinking that way was dangerous. Twenty dealing 1 damage each would still chunk 20 health at once.
The problem was they didn’t stop at one attack or 1 damage. Even level 10+ players could die if careless in those sewers.
‘And right now, few can handle the polluted ones either.’
Deeper in, polluted rats inflicted poison damage, making them a nightmare.
Kton Sewers weren’t recommended for level 15+ for nothing.
And the stench? So foul that without ‘equipment laundry’, it lingered for days. For rat tail rewards, the cost would always exceed the gain.
Experience was even stingier, so only a few curious early players tried it, earning it the nickname ‘developer trap’.
Yet Rokan took the quest for a simple reason: it was the key to a major scenario quest later.
Of course, you didn’t have to clear Sewer Cleanup specifically. But...
‘...Suck it up. Otherwise, it’s a 10-quest chain.’
Without it, you’d need ten more annoying, grueling quests to reach the same point.
‘But the smell... Ugh, no choice.’
Plus, there were a few other reasons only Rokan knew, so he resolved to endure.
“Alright, let’s go.”
Kton Sewer entry required two conditions: Sewer Cleanup quest accepted, and level 20 or below.
Over 20? Even with the quest, no entry.
So before entering, Rokan made full preparations. A single mistake could lock him out forever after first entry.
First, he sold junk from the Orc Warrior and Champion hunts. The only keepers were the Orc tribe battle axe from the Warrior and normal-grade boots from the Champion.
‘Wish the Champion dropped more...’
No weapon, sadly—just boots. Wearable, but level-restricted, halving defense, options, etc., except durability.
Rokan equipped them solely to block sewer filth.
He sold the rest at the general store for cash and consumables.
[Money: 5 Silver 23 Copper]
Over 5 Silver earned. At this rate, he’d pay off debts in days, not a month. But now was time to invest.
‘Better grab sub-jobs early.’
He hit the butcher shop, bought a 10 Copper butchery knife, and learned sub-job ‘Butcher’.
Butchery extracted hides or byproducts from beast-type monster corpses.
Hides didn’t make big money early, but hunting often yielded useful materials and side income via butchery.
That’s why Rokan chose Butchery for one of his three sub-job slots.
Later, high Butchery yielded blood, tendons, etc.
‘Miss out on troll blood or wyvern hide? No way.’
Blacksmithing, bowcraft—those were main jobs. Primary production like this was sub-job.
He filled another sub-job slot: ‘First Aid’. Used bandages to restore target health. Tricky in combat, but great rest-time potion alternative for combat classes.
‘Not well-known yet.’
It wasn’t popular yet for two reasons: hard bandage supply, low heal amount.
But Rokan knew the solutions.
“Buy cloth, buy scissors.”
Bandages: Buy cloth and scissors from tailor, repeatedly use scissors on cloth for mass production.
One cloth made about fifty bandages—great value.
Low heal? Leveling skill fixed that.
For more effect, soak in potions beforehand.
Wasted on instant/short potions? Dilute one potion to soak many bandages—not bad efficiency.
And later, high First Aid cured most poisons with bandages alone. Soon essential for combat jobs.
[Money: 3 Copper]
“Whew, now for real.”
Having spent it all on bandages, Rokan steeled himself and entered Kton Sewers.
At his level, even rat teeth wouldn’t pierce him.
But enduring that stench? Even Rokan needed resolve.
