Chapter 91: The Fist King Transcends
The Blue Cold Twin Killers and Daoist Master Gonggong watched as a white thread bloomed from Dan Woo-sung's palm.
A single, delicate thread swayed and danced in the air. It was fascinating, but hardly threatening.
With a flick of his wrist, Dan Woo-sung sent the white thread fluttering forward like a butterfly.
Instantly, the Blue Cold Twin Killers retreated seven paces in unison. Their movements were so light, their bodies barely shifting, that it looked almost unnatural.
Daoist Master Gonggong, however, did not retreat. Instead, he swung his flaming palm at the incoming thread.
Snap!
A faint sound echoed as the thread vanished without a trace. Daoist Master Gonggong shook his head and clicked his tongue.
"You little bastard, you startled me."
From behind, the Blue Cold Twin Killers spoke simultaneously.
"Gonggong... be careful."
Crackle—!
A dozen more white threads shot from Dan Woo-sung's outstretched hand, lunging at Daoist Master Gonggong. The rogue Taoist swung his flaming palm again, scattering three or four threads with a thud, but the remaining threads—formed of crackling lightning—twisted and coiled like vipers, wrapping tightly around his neck.
"Ghk—!"
The threads merged back into a single whip of lightning, tightening around Daoist Master Gonggong's throat. His face flushed crimson as he strained against the pressure, channeling all his energy into resisting. Meanwhile, the Blue Cold Twin Killers closed the distance in an instant—
Dan Woo-sung tilted his head slightly, locking eyes with them.
He smirked, as if daring them to come closer.
The Blue Cold Twin Killers halted mid-step, assessing the situation. It was already too late to intervene. They had been deceived.
Seeing they wouldn't advance, Dan Woo-sung poured more energy into his grip and spoke.
"Old men, did you think the Escort Bureau's leader was a joke?"
The thought that these men had harassed the Escort Bureau and merchant groups made him merciless.
Daoist Master Gonggong struggled against the lightning whip, his voice strained as he gasped for help.
"Seniors...!"
Dan Woo-sung scoffed.
"Seniors? You think they'll save you? What's with villains acting like this?"
He had been conserving energy—ready to unleash lightning from his left hand if the Blue Cold Twin Killers joined the fray—but since they didn't, he poured everything into Daoist Master Gonggong. This was the same lightning that had torn apart the Twelve Demon Blades. After consuming the Heavenly Peach Fruit, his energy had deepened to the point where Daoist Master Gonggong stood no chance.
"GAAAH—!"
His flaming palm dropped first, then his entire body convulsed violently. The stench of burning flesh filled the air before Dan Woo-sung finally retracted the lightning whip.
He turned to the Blue Cold Twin Killers.
"Thinking of running?"
The one-armed assassin spoke.
"If the inn's master joins, it'll be harder."
"Agreed."
The Blue Cold Twin Killers slid backward before finally turning to flee. As they did, Dan Woo-sung called out.
"Blue Cold Twin Killers... you pathetic bastards."
They froze mid-step.
They had never revealed their identities—yet this young Escort Bureau leader knew exactly who they were. Of course he did. Dan Woo-sung knew most of the infamous figures in the martial world.
He taunted them.
"If you fight here, I'll take you on alone. I heard you two wiped out the Shandong Yue Clan—was that true? Where's that same ferocity now? Reduced to scurrying rats. The only one you fear is Alliance Leader Yoo Jung-hong, isn't it? Kneel and swear that from now on, every time my Escort Bureau passes, you'll bow. I've heard even villains like you keep their word. Promise me, and I'll let you go."
The Blue Cold Twin Killers stared at him.
"Young man... you're no Escort Bureau leader. That power doesn't belong there."
"You couldn't be. Were you part of the Murim Alliance?"
Dan Woo-sung grinned.
"Yeah, sure. Murim Alliance. Escort Bureau leader too. Whatever. Either way, you're dying by my hand. Twin Killers—if you've lived this long, you should die fighting. Forty years in the martial world, huh? Must've been miserable, hiding like rats in a sewer, jumping at shadows, waiting for the Alliance Leader to descend. Tough life."
As his words ended—
Dan Woo-sung and the Blue Cold Twin Killers burst into laughter simultaneously.
The Twin Killers spoke.
"That's quite the insult."
"Master of the inn, do not interfere in this fight. If we survive, we'll seek your teachings another day."
From inside the inn, Mad God replied calmly.
"Fine. I won't interfere. But I swear to heaven—anyone who runs now will be torn apart."
Dan Woo-sung strode toward the Blue Cold Twin Killers, stepping on Daoist Master Gonggong's neck and crushing it with a crack.
No hesitation. No mercy.
The Twin Killers spread out, flanking him. The one-armed assassin, Cheong-il, unfurled a steel fishing line glowing with blue energy from his sleeve—a ranged weapon coiled far longer than anyone would expect.
The twin with both arms intact, Cheong-wol, drew a circular blade from his waist—a weapon shaped like a full moon, concealing a crescent blade within.
Their weapons, the Sun-Moon Wheel and fishing rod, were designed for coordinated kills.
Countless masters had been ensnared by the fishing line before having their throats slit by the Sun-Moon Wheel.
As Dan Woo-sung advanced, the Twin Killers moved—first widening the gap, then closing in, hurling both weapons simultaneously.
The trajectories were bizarre.
Whoosh—!
Screech—!
The fishing rod arced widely, aiming to coil around Dan Woo-sung's body, while the Sun-Moon Wheel shot straight for his throat.
Dan Woo-sung ducked under the wheel and caught the fishing rod with his gauntlet.
Cheong-il immediately yanked back, trying to reel free—but the rod's length was impossible to gauge.
Meanwhile, the Sun-Moon Wheel spun back midair, and Cheong-wol lunged forward with a palm strike.
An ordinary fighter would have died before understanding the lethal coordination.
But this only applied to those of similar skill.
Dan Woo-sung retreated with a light step, then yanked the fishing rod hard.
Snap!
The rod's midsection cracked as Cheong-il was jerked forward midair. At the same time, Dan Woo-sung exchanged palm strikes with Cheong-wol—
Thud! Crack!
After three exchanges, Cheong-wol recoiled, realizing he couldn't withstand Dan Woo-sung's energy. He caught the returning Sun-Moon Wheel midair.
The Twin Killers were stunned.
Their strategy—ensnaring prey with the rod and decapitating them with the wheel—had failed completely.
Dan Woo-sung laughed.
"Hahaha...!"
He flicked the fishing rod upward.
Twang!
The rod's midsection curved sharply midair. Dan Woo-sung dodged Cheong-wol's attack, leaped up, grabbed the rod's center, and yanked it down—halving its length instantly.
With a spinning motion, he pulled again. Cheong-il frantically unraveled more line from his sleeve, retreating desperately.
Meanwhile, Dan Woo-sung unleashed a Lightning Fist at Cheong-wol before gripping the rod with both hands and hauling it like a fisherman reeling in a monstrous catch.
Cheong-il flailed midair like a hooked fish—
Then Dan Woo-sung released the rod.
His left hand lashed out, wrapping Cheong-il's throat in a whip of lightning. After consuming the Heavenly Peach Fruit, his combat prowess had transcended even his Fist King days.
Cheong-wol, having barely dispersed the Lightning Fist, swung the Sun-Moon Wheel—
Dan Woo-sung caught it and infused it with the Five-Star energy of the White Lightning Ten Stages.
Crackle—!
Shocked, Cheong-wol dropped the wheel—
Dan Woo-sung kicked the falling weapon's handle, sending it flying.
Thud! Splurt!
"Ghk—!"
Cheong-wol tried to catch it bare-handed—only for seven fingers to be severed as the blade spun away. Dan Woo-sung, still holding the lightning whip, drove his right foot into Cheong-wol's face.
Crunch!
Cheong-wol hurtled backward, blood spraying from his mangled hand.
Dan Woo-sung muttered.
"Evil bastards and their vicious tricks."
He wasn't even using his full strength. Experience alone was enough to dismantle their tactics. As he pulled the lightning whip, Cheong-il—determined to take him down—lunged with a desperate palm strike, channeling energy even through his empty sleeve.
Dan Woo-sung yanked the whip downward—
Cheong-il faceplanted into the ground.
Behind him, Cheong-wol—fingers gone—kicked off the earth, charging headfirst like a wild beast.
Both were willing to die to kill him. Typical of the Black Path's mad dogs—fighting with brutal desperation.
Dan Woo-sung tugged the whip, making Cheong-il and Cheong-wol collide midair.
Crunch!
Their skulls shattered on impact, killing them instantly.
Twins born together, dying together—there was something tragic about it.
But Dan Woo-sung felt nothing. He had heard of their atrocities.
He kicked their entwined corpses into the wilderness, where rough stones rolled across the barren land. Then he grabbed Daoist Master Gonggong's waist and hurled him after them.
"Seniors and juniors—feed the beasts together."
A thin layer of dust settled over the bodies of Daoist Master Gonggong and the Blue Cold Twin Killers.
A lone swordsman emerged from the wilderness, nudging the corpses with his foot before examining their faces.
Black Path... and the Blue Cold Twin Killers.
The man—expressionless—was the Iron Blood Sword Emperor, a wandering swordsman.
His gaze shifted to the inn, where carriages marked with the West Wind Escort Bureau's insignia stood. Escort guards, having just finished eating, were stepping outside.
If the Blue Cold Twin Killers had been killed, a master of the White Path was present.
Entering the inn, he spotted a group at a table—among them, a stranger who spoke first.
"Well, well. If it isn't my adorable junior—the Sword Emperor himself."
The Iron Blood Sword Emperor stiffened before cursing.
"What the hell—?"
Only one man in the world would call him "adorable."
Mad God—now unrecognizable—waved at him.
The Sword Emperor turned to leave, but Mad God stopped him.
"See your senior and don't even greet him? Want a beating? You've grown so much."
The Sword Emperor sighed. Even Alliance Leader Yoo Jung-hong didn't treat him this harshly.
He approached reluctantly.
"Hello, senior. Been rejuvenated, have you?"
His eyes scanned the group—all unfamiliar except for one young man with a complicated expression.
Dan Woo-sung, of course.
They had known each other in his past life—back when Dan Woo-sung trained to defeat the Sword Emperor and Blade Emperor. But now, he couldn't acknowledge it.
Mad God introduced him.
"This is the Iron Blood Sword Emperor—one of the White Path's Ten Great Masters. My favorite junior, after Medicine God. Greet him properly."
Baek Yak and Cheol Myung-ho bowed respectfully. Dan Woo-sung, belatedly, clasped his fists.
Even in his Fist King days, the Sword Emperor had been his senior.
No hard feelings.
