Russian Roulette (1)
“...How much? Th-three hundred?”
“They even gave a discount?”
Lee Ji-yeon's nonstop extravagance was making my head spin.
By the time we finished customs, a sleek limousine—the kind you only saw at award shows—was waiting for us. The chauffeur approached with practiced ease and greeted us in fluent Korean.
“Miss Lee Ji-yeon, Mr. Kim Cho-in, thank you for your long journey. We'll escort you safely to your accommodations. This way...”
I stared at her in shock, but she calmly followed the chauffeur to the car. Flying first class had already felt outrageously luxurious, but calling a limo as a shuttle to the hotel? I hadn't even dreamed of that.
“Cho-in, come on.”
Lee Ji-yeon shot me a look that said what are you waiting for?
While the chauffeur loaded our bags into the trunk, I stood there dumbfounded before finally climbing in after her. The spacious, pristine interior felt like second nature to her; she casually pulled a mini bottle of sparkling wine from the fridge. She popped the cork with a satisfying whoosh, filled a glass, handed it to me, then poured her own.
“Shall we start light?”
“Uh? Oh...”
We clinked glasses, and I sipped lightly, following her lead. It had a subtle sweetness, a tangy bite, and gentle bubbles that made it refreshing. Definitely expensive stuff.
“...How much did you blow on this trip?”
“You wanna know?”
Even as I asked seriously, she just smiled happily. I'd thought we were staying at a hotel near the airport, but this place was clearly far away. Something was off. The film crew said they'd join locally, so no sign of them. I'd expected business class, but she cashed in miles for first. Now this fancy limo and premium champagne right out of the gate? None of it matched the plan.
Something was seriously wrong.
“...This isn't the hotel either. It's not the one in the itinerary...”
“Cho-in, remember where you said you wanted to go for our honeymoon?”
“Huh?”
Honey...moon...?
