Chapter 0 Prologue
Prologue
"You're the most patriotic person I've ever met."
That was something Logan often heard from his comrades while traveling the world as an independence fighter.
But his response was always the same.
"Patriotism? Bullshit..."
And to those who looked bewildered, he had only one explanation.
"It's just revenge."
Most nodded in understanding.
Others took it to mean revenge for losing his country—another form of patriotism, in their eyes.
The truth was far from it, but he never bothered to clarify.
It wasn't a story worth boasting about.
A disgraced son, exiled from his family for sins committed in his foolish youth.
After more than a decade of scraping by in a merciless world, he finally realized just how pathetic he had been.
But regret and remorse came far too late.
At the end of his journey to beg for forgiveness, he was met with the sight of his family's estate engulfed in flames.
Tears of blood fell as he swore vengeance.
Vengeance for his family.
And—
Vengeance for stealing away his chance to even ask for forgiveness.
He no longer remembered which came first—time had blurred the lines.
All that remained was:
"One more. Just one more."
Day after day.
Regretting the past.
Living only for a single purpose.
An existence that was nothing but penance.
And just when he thought that grueling life was finally nearing its end—
A miracle happened.
