Chapter 74 Odin's Eye
The time spent raising my resistance after such a long while was extremely enjoyable, but that time didn't last as long as I thought it would.
[The level of Supreme Comprehensive Resistance increases.]
Since my resistance skill had already reached too high a level and even had Unbreakable added to it, from the moment the level increased once more, proficiency stopped accumulating any further.
'I should probably finish this soon.'
The opponent's strengths were its overwhelming mass combined with the powerful deadly poison it carried.
However, the deadly poison had no effect on me whatsoever, and attacks using its mass didn't work on me either.
In terms of understanding of nothingness, diversity of abilities, hardness of outer shell, and even regeneration, I had the upper hand, so time was on my side.
SWOOOOOSH!
Realizing that poison didn't work, it violently moved its tail to create a massive tidal wave.
It was an intense wave powerful enough to half-destroy the ship in an instant, but the intermediate water spirits worked hard to block it.
Thanks to that, by the time the wave reached the ship, it had weakened enough for me to handle it myself.
Since water attacks weren't working either, it tried to attack directly using its body, but each time it did so, it was instead exposed to my attacks and suffered greater damage.
CRACK.
Of course, every time I directly collided with that massive body, my bones and joints were put under great strain and I suffered wounds, but my recovery speed was far superior to the creature's.
In gaming terms, when my HP decreased by 10%, Jörmungandr's HP only decreased by about 0.1% - the worst cost-effectiveness ratio.
But after 1 second, my health returned to 100% while the creature remained with its health depleted, so if I repeated this infinitely, I would eventually win.
It's like having infinite coins - there's no need to worry about whether the cost-effectiveness is good or bad.
I just kept swinging my hands and feet without rest, until my clothes got soaked in the drizzle.
At first, the creature attacked mindlessly since I was taking more wounds, but as the wounds on its body increased, it began to hesitate somewhat.
It seemed to be gradually realizing this unreasonable battle structure.
Eventually, when Jörmungandr's body was half torn to shreds, the creature stopped attacking.
'Is this as easy as it gets?'
I wondered if a new attack pattern or phase 2 was about to begin, but the creature suddenly started pulling its body back into the water.
Thinking it might be targeting the bottom of the ship from underwater, I reinforced the ship further with Black Magic and Spirit Arts, but no matter how much time passed, no attack came.
"Wait, don't tell me... it just ran away?"
Could it be that going into the water wasn't a precursor to phase 2, but just fleeing?
[Some of those from the Pantheon and Pandemonium are holding their stomachs and laughing heartily.]
'This isn't the time to be laughing, you people.'
Thinking about it again, there was one way for Jörmungandr to drag out the fight.
The creature could breathe in water while I couldn't, so it could just hide inside.
I thought it was just stupid because it kept taking hits, but it was actually smarter than I expected.
This left me with no choice but to either wait for Jörmungandr to come out again, or go directly into the water - its advantageous battlefield - to fight.
If I chose the former, there was a possibility that the creature would come out after its body finished recovering, but there was no guarantee it wouldn't go back into the water again afterward.
I might end up fighting a battle that would never end.
In that case, it was better to just fight in the water even if it put me at a disadvantage.
SPLASH!
I immediately jumped into the water.
'At least I'm fortunate that I can use Spirit Arts.'
It made moving in water more comfortable and at least allowed me to breathe.
My body was heavier and more uncomfortable than on land, but it wasn't to the point where I couldn't move.
And the moment I entered the water, the creature opened its mouth wide as if it had been waiting for this moment, trying to devour me.
A mouth large enough to fill my entire field of vision approached at a much faster speed than when it was above water.
As if this was truly its home ground.
Conversely, I was much slower compared to being outside, so I had no choice but to be eaten by the creature.
I began moving into the creature's throat interior with tremendous water pressure, and from that point on, an enormous amount of digestive fluid and poison began covering me.
HISSSSSSS.
The speed at which my skin melted seemed much faster than when my body was just being scorched by poison alone.
It was still fine for now, but if this state continued, my entire body would start melting away in order: skin, then muscle, then bone.
If this were a process for raising my resistance, I would have endured it, but this was already a situation where I couldn't gain anything from the creature's poison.
I was just thinking of focusing on killing the creature as quickly as possible, but there was another variable.
"What the hell are you raising in your body?"
The creature even had parasites proportional to its body size, with parasites several meters in size rushing at me trying to kill me.
They weren't particularly threatening, but there were so many of them that they were annoying.
They were truly meaningless creatures that wouldn't even give any potential through Predation.
I just gave up on Predation and set up an automatic hunting system with Spirit Arts and Black Magic to let them die off on their own, then did what I needed to do.
"You eating me was a mistake, you bastard."
I took out the Demon God Lotus Armor from my inventory and transformed it into the Unique-grade spear form I had fed it.
Then I stabbed it into the creature's throat, which was much softer than the outside, while wrapping it with Demon Qi.
From the creature's perspective, this level of attack would be equivalent to being poked with a toothpick, but I had one more kick I could add to this.
'Gigantification. To maximum.'
My size instantly grew to that of a 20-meter giant. And naturally, the spear I had driven into the creature's throat also grew to a size befitting my body.
A large hole was instantly pierced through its throat.
[All those from the Pantheon and Pandemonium are amazed by your wit.]
It seems even the transcendents didn't expect me to utilize Gigantification in this way.
'This is how I've been thinking of using Gigantification ever since I got it.'
Though I never imagined I'd use it this quickly.
Who would have known that after facing a giant, the next opponent would be an even bigger creature?
The creature trembled its body greatly in pain, trying to spit me out again, but when I held tight to the spear stuck in its throat and endured, I could withstand being swept away by the vomit.
'The smell is really nauseating though.'
Still, I endured it. This was the only way to kill the creature.
And when enough of what was inside had been expelled that vomiting was no longer possible, I released Gigantification again, drove the spear into a different part, then used Gigantification again.
After repeating this several times, the creature's interior was becoming indescribably messed up.
Its exterior was already in tatters, and now its interior was also full of large holes.
And when I scorched the inside of each hole with Hellfire, it trembled its entire body, seeming to enjoy it immensely.
[You have cleared Odin's mission.]
[Please select an additional reward.]
[1. Jörmungandr's corpse.]
[2. Odin's skill.]
"What? It's really dead?"
The ‘enjoying it immensely’ wasn't a figurative expression, it had actually died.
Now it was time to choose a reward, and once again, option 1 had a corpse while option 2 had a different reward.
Odin probably thought I would choose option 1 here and put the corpse as a reward, but I had no intention of doing so.
'This is a trap.'
Jörmungandr, this thing was just big, but honestly its only advantages were literally its size and poison.
Even if I devoured it through Predation, it would probably only slightly increase poison-related abilities.
Would I give up option 2 to eat something like this through Predation?
I wasn't stupid enough for that.
[Will you select Odin's skill?]
[Yes / No.]
I immediately pressed yes, and a new power settled within me.
And I felt that my vision of the world had expanded to an indescribably greater extent.
[Skill: Odin's Eye (Lv1) acquired.]
[Deep Insight (LvMAX) is integrated into Odin's Eye.]
[The level of Odin's Eye increases.]
[The level of Odin's Eye increases.]
The Deep Insight I had previously possessed was integrated into the newly acquired skill.
This meant that this ability called Odin's Eye was a superior compatible ability to Deep Insight.
[Time remaining until adaptation to Odin's skill: 23 hours 59 minutes]
Once again, I was given plenty of time, allowing me to thoroughly learn about the new skill.
[One of the gods from the Pantheon is shocked by your choice.]
'This really seems like a message sent by Odin.'
It seems he never expected I would make a choice completely opposite to his expectations.
"I will make good use of the skill you sponsored, Lord Odin."
It had been a long time since my detection-type abilities had grown, and I had been wondering if there was a way to develop them further, but I never knew I would find a solution like this.
I bowed my head sincerely toward him who would be watching this place.
Then new messages appeared.
[Some of those from the Pandemonium and Pantheon are holding their stomachs and laughing heartily once again.]
[One of the gods from the Pantheon is furious to the tips of their hair.]
'Why are these people acting like this again?'
Did they fight among themselves or something?
They're truly incomprehensible people.
