Recruitment Notice
Recruitment Notice
As was usually the case with games requiring a certain degree of control.
In [Demon's Saga], the 'Highlight Reel' existed as well.
That was because, when people were physically moving and fighting, interesting scenes got created quite frequently.
And those who got hooked on such scenes sometimes did a bit of editing to make them more spectacular.
Adding some unique color grading to the footage, inserting effects on screen at attack timings—the ways people made Highlight Reels were varied.
However, if there was one unusual thing about [Demon's Saga], it was that these Highlight Reels included not just users but NPCs too.
After all, if it was cool, that was all that mattered.
Naturally, the recently hot topic Yor was no exception.

[Brought a Highlight Reel]
(Video)
Just lightly added some effects, how is it?
+
[Oh~ pretty dizzying?]
[The original's better, you dumbass]
[But the shockwave spreading around the Owlbear is sick tho lol]
[↳ fr lol just adding some screen shake makes it feel hella epic huh]
[Ends too fast so it lacks spectacle, I'm gonna go watch Shin Han-byeol Highlight Reels instead heh..]
[↳ ugh these damn Byeol-stans for real]

[Did a simple analysis of Yor's fight scene]
The only thing I'm focusing on is the final scene
At the end, when he's preparing that thrust, the spear blade turns blue, right?
As far as I know, the only thing that turns a weapon blue is Sword Aura
In other words, Yor wrapped Sword Aura around it and literally tore that Owlbear apart
+
[Wow! What a truly great and singular analysis!]
[So he just beat it to death with raw physicals, and this bastard's acting like he figured something out calling it an 'analysis' lmaooo]
[↳ what? isn't Sword Aura a technique then? the fuck]
[But that's Sword Aura? You sure you didn't see wrong? Even barely any of the A-Rank Mercenary bitches use it?]
[↳ it definitely is, I've died dozens of times pestering the Fourth Knight Commander so I know. It's cruder than his, but that's Sword Aura for sure.]
[↳ That's a flex, plain and simple]
[↳ Bastards like you are why the perception of all of us drops, you fucker]

[Anyway, why is this bastard dressed so slutty?]
(Photo)
Ha lol, who exactly is he trying to seduce
Look at those bulging tendons and that shredded muscle
His body's hella lewd too, I wanna tap that just once
Seriously, I'm confident I could make him sob on the floor lol
+
[Hey man, a bit]
[Before that, I think your throat would get slit lol]
[He's just in normal short sleeves and shorts, please live in reality]
[↳ Originally, that kind of everyday hotness is better than being overtly sexy, yeah]
[↳ You people are seriously insane]

"Mm..."
After roughly checking all the posts like that, Chae-rin swallowed a muted hum for a moment.
The forum was, literally, in total chaos. She'd gone to sleep and woken up to find the community on fire.
She felt a slightly strange sense of wonder.
That NPC who'd been talking normally with her turned out to be that strong.
Of course, she had been aware the other party was a powerhouse, but confirming it directly through video like this exceeded her imagination.
She smiled wryly to herself.
'He's gonna get even more famous from now on...'
After all, he'd pulled off a scene that insane.
On top of that, the video hadn't even been uploaded to YouTube yet.
It hadn't even been a full day since Kim Mari's stream ended.
Once the video got edited up nicely and uploaded to YouTube, it was bound to get an even bigger response.
If the streaming platform Ppiriri was a small well, then YouTube was as good as a vast ocean.
Still, now that she knew the extent of his skill, an unfortunate incident like last time wouldn't happen again...
Thinking that, she pushed away the bitter feelings.
But contrary to her expectations.
The topic didn't end up spreading any further.
A few days later.

[A notice just went up on the guild board]
It's important, so everyone go check it out
Didn't bother taking a screenshot, 'cause I think it's better to go see it in person yeah
+
It was because an even bigger piece of news had crushed the Yor-related bait.

[Demon Subjugation Squad Recruitment Notice]
Due to the previous incident, an oracle has come down that a demon will soon descend.
Dark clouds have fallen over the entire continent, so we are recruiting brave warriors to take part in the subjugation.
Those who participate in battle and earn merit shall be rewarded accordingly.
Furthermore, all brave warriors who take part will be paid 50,000 gold in advance.
Especially for Otherworlders, any equipment lost upon death will all be recovered and returned to you at a later time.
The lives of countless citizens rest in your hands.
We humbly request your abundant support.

Murmur, murmur.
When Yoo Chae-rin arrived at the guild, the first thing she felt was that the atmosphere was intensely unsettled.
Otherworlders and NPCs were mingled together in a chaotic crowd.
The direction of their gazes was, naturally, at the recruitment notice posted on the guild board.
However, the reactions of those gathered were each different.
"They're giving 50,000 gold just for participating?"
"And they give our gear back too? Isn't this crazy good?"
The ones happy about the notice were mostly the Otherworlders.
"Hah, a demon in these chaotic times..."
"Something we've only heard about in history is actually going to appear?"
"We're all going to die!"
The ones reacting gravely to the notice were all NPCs.
That was only natural.
For the Otherworlders, they could just think of it as a raid, but from the NPCs' perspective, their very lives were on the line.
Still, even considering that, their reactions were a bit puzzling.
Some NPCs were reacting so hypersensitively it seemed as if they'd lost their whole country.
Why? If they'd put up a notice like this, she figured they'd prepared sufficiently.
'Is a Demon Advent that dangerous...?'
Chae-rin tilted her head.
After all, Otherworlders like herself had absolutely no information about demons.
From the fact they were gathering people like this, she could at least tell the content was a raid.
But the opponent's strength, appearance, abilities—they knew nothing.
And so, the reactions Otherworlders, that is, users, could give were limited.
Being happy that new content had come out.
Or being happy about getting free money.
50,000 gold was a reasonably large sum in this place. Roughly, 1 gold held the value of about 10 won.
It meant they were giving out 500,000 won in game money for free, just for joining.
For Otherworlders constantly strapped for cash buying gear and potions, they had no choice but to be pleased.
But it seemed those reactions from the Otherworlders did not sit well with the NPCs.
Their high-performance AI drew conclusions from watching the users' behavior.
"Now, isn't that going a bit too far, even so?"
It was something said by an adventurer NPC who had been staring at the notice with a grim expression the whole time.
"Here we are, even worrying whether our families might die. And you think it's alright to keep laughing and carrying on beside us like that? Is now the time to be enjoying the mood?"
To roughly sum it up, he was telling them to read the room.
Of course, the Otherworlders weren't polite enough to hear that and say, "Ah, is that so. We apologize."
"What's that guy going on about?"
"Seriously, we gotta eat shit just for enjoying the game?"
The atmosphere turned hostile. A few adventurer NPCs who heard that stood up, fists clenched.
"Damn it, those wretched Otherworlder bastards. I can't stand it any longer. Fine. Today's the day you die."
"Get the hell out of our world, right now!"
After that, a brawl broke out for a bit.
The angry NPCs and the offended Otherworlders started throwing fists at each other.
Fortunately, a guild receptionist came and broke it up midway through, but there was no helping the soured atmosphere.
It was something that happened from time to time.
Cases where NPCs who didn't particularly like Otherworlders picked fights with them.
Because from their point of view, Otherworlders were uninvited guests, and the Otherworlders had committed quite a lot of misdeeds early in the game's launch, too.
Because of that, conflicts between NPCs and Otherworlders were quite common throughout the game.
In the first place, you were treating them as fakes, so how could they easily come to like you?
Of course, Yoo Chae-rin, who had simply been standing by watching it, could only manage a wry smile.

"... So that's what happened at the guild."
Some time after confirming the notice, Chae-rin relayed the news to Yor.
She was diligently carrying out the contract they had made a few days earlier.
She had wanted to turn on her stream too, but oddly enough, Yor had refused this time, so she had no choice but to hold back.
He was currently wearing short sleeves similar to last time.
Since the weather was moving into mid-spring, even an outer coat felt hot by now.
Because of that, his outfit was beyond comfortable, but she was gradually getting used to it, so she had no particular reaction.
Maybe it was because that 2 AM delinquent fashion she'd seen last time had been too intense. By comparison, she'd adapted to this level.
Still, there was one thing that kept nagging at her: Yor kept scratching at his right collarbone.
Judging by his actions, that spot seemed to be itching quite a bit.
She tilted her head and asked.
"Did a mosquito bite you, or something?"
"No, well... Yeah."
Yor nodded with an evasive reaction.
It was slightly puzzling, but it wasn't really important, so Chae-rin just let it slide.
In any case, she'd conveyed everything she had to say.
After hearing the information, Yor's expression hardened considerably.
'I thought, no way, no way.'
To think a demon was actually about to descend.
He, too, had only ever heard of it in history. An actual demon appearing was a first in his lifetime.
As an orphan, even that history was nothing more than snippets he'd picked up by ear.
From what he'd heard, a demon had appeared hundreds of years ago, and at that time, close to tens of thousands of people had died.
It wasn't for nothing that the people of this world reacted so sensitively to someone like him.
Just what in the world was going to happen this time...
Even if it was a shitty place, it was the world he lived in, so Yor couldn't help but feel grave as well.
As a brief silence continued like that, Chae-rin asked cautiously.
"What do you think? Any intention of participating?"
"...What?"
"The recruitment notice. Since it said all strong people are welcome..."
In Chae-rin's estimation, Yor was a considerable powerhouse.
For starters, the fact he lived in this forest was unusual in itself.
An Owlbear was a monster that even the locals couldn't easily hunt.
With that level of skill, he might definitely go out and distinguish himself in the raid.
But Yor's reaction was lukewarm.
"No, I'll pass."
It couldn't be helped that the Otherworlders had already captured his image.
But he had no desire to go out of his way to a place like that and expose himself further.
Even if he went and distinguished himself, that was a problem in itself. From then on, all sorts of questioning would come his way.
The way each nation would react if they found out he was a 'Demon's Blood' bearer was all too obvious.
"I see."
Of course, Chae-rin hadn't really expected it either, knowing he had his circumstances.
She'd only asked since she was delivering the news anyway.
"Ah, the sun's starting to set. I'll be going. See you next time!"
"Yeah."
Having conveyed the news, she leisurely departed the Forbidden Forest.
And so, a few weeks later, the demon descended.
The demon's name was Andromalius.
The 72nd-ranked demon, Andromalius.
