I Found Something New
[Mutant Wolf Leather x1]
[Large Mutant Wolf Fang x2]
As anyone who's played games would know, there are several ways to acquire equipment items.
You can just buy them from a shop, order goods at a blacksmith, or win rare items at an auction house.
And the most common method of obtaining items in this game was commissioning them at a blacksmith.
Of course, since the game aimed to be "another reality," all the other methods were possible as well.
But off-the-shelf goods were usually of questionable quality, and auctions were often too expensive.
That was why most players chose custom orders. The prices were reasonable, and the quality was usually better.
But there was one problem with this method... you usually had to prepare the materials yourself.
Of course, even materials could be purchased, but then it became too expensive. If you were going to do that, you might as well just make do with store-bought stuff. Wherever you went, money was what held people back.
And since this game wasn't like other RPGs that just showered you with items... getting new equipment was tricky in many ways.
Yet in that situation, the materials had come to her. And fairly high-quality materials at that.
Good lord, a Mutant Wolf? Wasn't that a monster that lived in this forest?
Most of the monsters living in this forest boasted incredibly high levels. So much so that even she, who was considered high-level among users, couldn't hunt them.
Among them, the 'Mutant Wolf' was relatively weak... but it was still quite strong.
'What was the average level of a Mutant Wolf again?'
Even within the same species, individuals differed, so not all had the same level. But an average could be estimated. Fortunately, she remembered quickly.
Because the monster she had faced when she died here was precisely a Mutant Wolf.
The level of that one back then had definitely been...
'83.'
Crazy.
Chae-rin cursed internally. That was practically ranker-level.
Just what level was this guy?
[Dang, our boy... seems pretty strong lol]
[A strong guy lol perverted desires...]
[↳ Banned by manager]
[No wtf why the last one]
[You never know, he might've just brought a dead wolf carcass]
[fr lol how strong can a guy be anyway lmaoooo]
[Fact] The bitches who talked like that and got cut down by the Fourth Knight Commander are a dime a dozen.
"?"
Meanwhile, Yor was puzzled.
Honestly, from his perspective, he'd just tossed her a few pieces of junk that had been rolling around his house.
Of course, he knew it was valuable, but from his standpoint, it was an item he could obtain easily enough.
But to Yoo Chae-rin, it was a considerably rare item.
Since this was an unexplored region, the items from this area simply didn't have much supply circulating. It was what you'd call a difference in standing due to scarcity.
And so Yoo Chae-rin bowed her head and expressed her thanks.
"Thank you!"
She was already picturing how to process the materials. The leather for armor, and with the two fangs, she could make them into a pair of daggers...
'Heh heh.'
She might even get equipment far better than the level 75 dagger she'd been planning to buy.
"Right, now go. It'll be night soon."
"Ah, yes!"
And so Chae-rin left Yor's house.
After she had gone, Yor lightly inspected the goods.
'Six bottles of Holy Water.'
And pastries with strawberry jam too!
It was a highly satisfying result.
These were items normally only sold in the city center. For Yor, who was a criminal, they were valuable things he couldn't easily obtain.
Compared to these, the junk he'd given Chae-rin was nothing.
Of course, there was a way to ask the back-alley guys... but no one knew what those bastards might do to the bread.
And Holy Water was a rare item even they couldn't easily get.
In a better mood, Yor grinned and took a bite of the bread.
"Hyaa."
The savory, sweet flavor spread through his mouth. Among it was the taste of memories.
'It's a little cold, though...'
That part was a bit of a shame.

The day after Chae-rin left.
I immediately began disguising my house.
I'd decided to expose my existence to some degree, but I still didn't want people wandering in and out of my house at all hours.
I covered the cave roof using dirt and leaves I could find nearby. It was fortunate my house was nature-friendly. Thanks to that, covering it with leaves didn't feel out of place.
If someone looked this way from far off, they'd probably just think it was a large pit.
The entrance leading into the cave... I left that undisguised for now.
The entrance wasn't very big, so it was hard to see anyway, and I still needed to see the sunlight to live.
My mental state was precarious as it was; I at least needed to see some sunlight.
And I also had this thought.
'It'll get found out eventually anyway.'
A little camouflage wasn't going to completely hide my house.
If the number of people entering this forest increased someday, my house was ultimately fated to be discovered.
When that time came, I'd become a real zoo monkey...
I could only hope the Otherworlders would exercise the conscience of modern people and refrain from home invasion.
"Phew, done."
Some time passed, and I was finally able to finish the work.
My own little house, blending into the forest, came into view. With this, the biggest task for today was handled.
'Now I need to secure some food.'
All that remained was carrying on with daily life. I hoped I could find something good today.

[I heard a new NPC that gives quests appeared today, is it true?]
Title

[Yeah, a streamer called Yoo Chae-rin discovered it this time]
[↳ Oh lolol so does that mean I can get a quest if I go too?]
[↳ Wake up lol what makes you think she'd give you a quest?]
[↳ Watch your fucking mouth, you bitch]
[Isn't it possible she won't keep giving quests anyway? Looking at today's errand list, it seemed quest-worthy though.]
[↳ Either way, seems like she'll keep giving them? It's not like quest-giving NPCs are common]

After finishing the game, Yoo Chae-rin browsed the community lightly.
It was one of her small pleasures.
Checking out how others felt about her stream once it was over.
Her editor told her not to look because it only damaged her mental health, but she still couldn't stop.
Fortunately, after looking around the community, the reactions weren't bad.
Today's stream must have been pretty satisfying. In the first place, it was rare for a small-time streamer like her to even be mentioned in the community like this.
That was how strong Yor's ripple effect was.
On top of that, a quest had even popped up today. It was only natural for users' attention to focus on it.
Not every NPC who gave a quest became an important figure.
But the NPCs who gave those quests all had the 'probability' of becoming major figures in the world setting.
There was no harm in remembering them from a user's perspective. And Yor's appearance was quite something to begin with. Yoo Chae-rin gave a wry smile at this.
Seeing it now, it seemed like he had some complaints about people coming to find him.
'More of them will go now...'
This was something she couldn't stop. A quest had appeared, so they'd go at least to take a look.
Still, since she'd given a heads-up on her stream, weird malicious users probably wouldn't go looking for him.
Though she hadn't seen him fight directly, people would have a vague sense of how strong he was.
Ding-!
It was while she was continuing that line of thought. A text notification popped up on her phone.
It was a text from her editor.
[Black Kitty: Saw the stream, it was fun]
[Black Kitty: Should I start editing right away?]
"Mm..."
Hearing that, Chae-rin felt a moment of hesitation. If you streamed, it was common sense to edit it and upload it to YouTube. But maybe because she'd just heard his complaints yesterday... something kept bothering her.
So Yoo Chae-rin made a request to her editor.
[Chae-rin: Hey, about that]
[Chae-rin: Could we not upload it to YouTube and just leave it for now?]
[Black Kitty:??? Why]
[Chae-rin: I just feel a bit weird about it..]
[Black Kitty: No, he's an NPC anyway, what's weird about it]
She had a point. It wasn't like an NPC would watch her YouTube anyway.
From their perspective, [Demon's Saga] was just a game in the end. No matter how human they seemed, no matter how lifelike. They were ultimately AI.
That was why other streamers usually edited and uploaded [Demon's Saga] material right away when they got it. It generally didn't matter which NPC appeared. They couldn't watch YouTube, after all.
You could say it was the trend, the common sense.
But...
[Chae-rin: Sry sry, I'll buy you a meal later]
[Black Kitty: ...Fine, make it something good]
[Chae-rin: Ok ok]
It wasn't like the NPC wouldn't find out. And she didn't want to get flicked on the forehead again.
Chae-rin made that excuse to herself and turned her thoughts away. She'd just ask Mr. Yor about it later and get his permission.
Thinking that, she began browsing the community again. The Demon's Saga Gallery was full of people chatting about the game as usual.
It was while she was doing that. A post that stood out especially caught her eye.
She clicked on a popular post with an unusually high number of comments.

Yoo Chae-rin pressed play on the video as if entranced.
