Why Did Professor Jeo Go on Hiatus? (2)
"I'll give him this much—a jungler does need good pathing. I'm a jungler myself, so I know exactly how important it is. Once you start falling behind, you're not just losing the XP gap—you're at a disadvantage in every major objective fight. You really do have to stay on top of it."
"Guys, I think you're a little confused here. You're not Professor Jeo's fans—you're my fans? Stop dogpiling on a streamer! Hah… fine, next one."
"……But seriously, why is the way this guy writes so infuriating? That cute little face and the heart are basically picking a fight. Is it just me?"
I had no idea why, the deeper we went into this Professor Jeo Hiatus Notice Ideal Type World Cup, the more I kept slipping into the viewer's perspective. I was a streamer. That was supposed to be the whole point.
Still—streamers this shameless deserved a little roasting.
"Which is exactly why I'm once again reminded that I am a thoroughly diligent and outstanding streamer. One day off a week, no long hiatuses, no sudden schedule flips. Great Seo-a, stop being so good already!"
"……."
I'd been pretty confident I was streaming diligently. And this was the cold evaluation I got for it? Betrayal from my own viewers made my stomach churn. They were seriously comparing me to Professor Jeo? No matter how you spun it, that was pure hate-watching!
Since we were live, I swallowed the rage and moved on to the next hiatus notice.
"Pfft! No, for real—who's the person just dropping two-syllable insults as their entire comment. It's not just this one either. I've seen them on other notices too."
It was so simple and raw that it was funny. Then the viewers asked if I liked comments like that and offered to leave the same kind on my own hiatus notices.
I put on a dead-serious face and flipped them the middle finger.
Traitor viewers can go eat a middle finger!
"But honestly, at this point aren't both the streamer and the viewers just enjoying it? And the hiatuses are way too frequent. For the record, I take a day off for my throat health—not for any other reason. From your perspective, that's like working six days a week at a company. Don't put us in the same category. It's unfair!"
"You absolute rocks for brains! When did I ever make a military disparagement remark! Moving on."
Anything military-adjacent was always a minefield. Even as a joke, cold sweat ran down my back. I spun the topic back to the content as fast as I could.
At the viewers' sudden fuss, I glanced ahead at the titles of the two notices on the left and right.
[Emergency COVID Hiatus Today!!]
VS
[I Didn't Rest Well]
What even were these titles? Just looking at the thumbnails already made my chest feel tight and petty.
I swore I wouldn't get dragged around by the viewers any further and decided to start with the left-hand notice.
"……."
There wasn't even room for evaluation. A hiatus because of a COVID virus alert? My head was spinning. Before a curse could slip out on its own, I whipped my head around to the right-hand notice.
"Heh heh heh."
I was starting to genuinely wonder. Did viewers just put up with notices like this every single time and keep watching anyway?
Amazingly, the answer that came back from chat was yes. People are adaptable animals. At first even Professor Jeo's fans had been furious, but after being force-fed the same lesson over and over, they'd somehow gotten used to notices like these.
"Alright, decision made. The winner is 'Emergency COVID Hiatus Today!!'. Honestly, this notice was so absurd I just snorted and laughed."
Clap clap clap—!
Through that little fact, I was able to realize a great many things.
So the masses really are pigs, huh?
They could be led around this easily. It made me question what all my effort up to now had even been for.
Once you've had a revelation, you have to act on it. Whether the pig comment had set them off or not, I ignored the noisy, clamoring chat and, with a perfectly serious expression, started writing a notice.
Hello, everyone.
The weather's been cold and chilly lately, right?
Make sure you bundle up with scarves and gloves.
Catch a cold at the start of winter and you'll suffer the whole season.
That's exactly me, by the way.
Judging by how I feel right now, I've got a feeling-ish feeling that I'll come down with a cold in two days.
Don't know what that means?
It just means I'm scheduled for a cold the day after tomorrow, so I'm taking a hiatus.
Kindly leaving this advance hiatus notice so nobody gets confused!
It was a thoroughly deranged notice, but I armed myself with confidence and stepped out boldly. If Professor Jeo could do it, so could I!
From now on, no more fretting over viewers' reactions on my regular off days. Time to thoroughly train them with Professor Jeo–style notices.
And so, once again, I spent the day locked in a fierce battle of wills with my viewers.
