The Landmark Meeting
Do-zney Castle. Hanok Village. Snow Globe. Whale Island. The Hannam Statue.
Any company worth the name was supposed to have some massive structure it could show off and brag about.
In Bad Potato's case, they'd built a racing circuit for motorsports before the regression—but thanks to Meat collapsing early, they'd half-turned into a ghost company by now.
Which left, in the end, only us: V-Live Company.
So what architecture did we actually have worth boasting about?
V-City? The underground cavern mega-farm? The neatly arranged modern houses?
Unfortunately, none of those counted.
There was a reason Lethal Company—still buried under more than thirty million Rena of debt—could still hold their noses so high. Part of it was flying Kim Hak-do's flag, a major-league streamer, but the real pride came from owning Do-zney Castle, the most magnificent and beautiful build on the entire server.
Fandoms thrived on that kind of bragging right. Of course they did.
On that front, V-Live Company had been running on three Purge Day championships—our three-peat—as the engine of our reputation. And yes, that achievement was genuinely impressive. It was an honor only our company held on the whole server.
But compared to a massive building that stayed visible forever, a Purge Day title was volatile. The moment we lost even once, the skeptics would start saying V-Live Company would never win again. And honestly, I wasn't that confident about more championships myself.
Which meant now was the perfect moment.
The declaration of a super-landmark that would eclipse every large-scale build on the server—and the first of its kind, no less. One move like that would more than replace the glory of being Purge Day champions.
"We're not trying to dismiss the existing large-scale builds. However, I will say this again: the landmark we've planned this time is, by any objective measure—scale, splendor, and construction difficulty—on a completely different level from anything else in Rena World."
I cranked the fans' expectations higher. The trick was flooding them with every possible reason to feel superior to the other companies.
Huh? The company I mainly watch in Rena World is number one on Purge Day, loaded with cash, and now they're also number one in building on the whole server?
Loyalty climbed on its own. Floating viewers looking for a place to settle would start pouring in. There was a reason gukppong content exploded on YouTube. At the root of it, the whole point was making people feel superior.
"I'll show you the proof right now. Our staff each came up with their own incredible landmark plans. So—who's presenting first?"
The opening act really mattered here. This was the moment that decided whether the expectations I'd inflated with all that rhetoric would keep climbing—or snap and crash.
Everyone hesitated under the pressure. Fortunately, before the silence stretched too long, someone raised a hand.
"I'll go!"
Our fake youngest, Han A-yeon—always the picture of diligence.
Why fake youngest? Because the real youngest, Mayo, ran around acting like she was everyone's unnie. Put the two of them side by side and A-yeon actually felt more like the cute little sister.
"Hmph! Mayo is two hundred fourteen million four hundred sixty-five thousand four hundred fifty-six times cuter, geosida."
We ignored the local broadcast and filed into A-yeon's stream.
"Then I'll begin."
A tightly prepared PPT. She'd even gotten her avatar and outfit ready for today—a sharp office-lady look that made her seem extremely intellectual. A-yeon gave her glasses frames a little nudge, then swung a pointer, and the first slide of the PPT appeared.
"The landmark I've planned is Bikini City. Everyone knows SpongeBob SquarePants, right?"
"Yeeees!"
"Exactly. I took that place as my motif. More precisely, I'm thinking of an underwater city."
"An underwater city!?"
"Yes! Everyone, close your eyes and picture it. Strolling freely through a beautiful ocean, living your life down there. Impossible, you say? No—YouTube already has the answer."
The next slide of the PPT held a single video waiting to play. The moment A-yeon clicked, it started—and there it was, exactly as she'd described: a fantastically lit, beautiful underwater landscape, with a Minecraft character building inside it.
A famous YouTuber channel specializing in Minecraft architecture.
It started with land reclamation. They raised enormous walls, then used sponge items obtained from ocean monuments to drain the water inside. After that, they built a second layer—a massive dome of transparent glass—and filled the interior with every dazzling structure they could invent. Roads and buildings were all enclosed within transparent glass corridors of a set range, so you could live underwater and still drink in the gorgeous scenery around you. Once the interior was finished, they tore down the outer walls and let the glass structure sink beneath the water.
And just like that—an underwater city, complete.
It sounded simple when you said it out loud, but the process actually demanded staggering calculation and effort. The building itself was hard enough—but a single mistake could send water flooding into the zones people were supposed to walk through. This was a landmark that required precision engineering.
"That was A-yeon's underwater city, Bikini City. A round of applause, everyone."
Clap clap clap—!
A strong idea right out of the gate. A few compliments went around, and then I moved straight to calling the next person. The final result would be decided by vote anyway—no need to start debating this early. Plenty of turns still left.
"How about Mayo going second? You were so confident about it yesterday."
"If you want it that desperately, Mayo will present second, geosida. Everyone raid my stream, geosida."
The whole crowd stampeded over to Mayo's broadcast.
"This is the Summoner's Rift landmark—just building it will raise everyone's rank by two or three tiers!"
I could practically hear a DUN DUN! special effect go off around Mayo. That was how full of herself she looked. She flipped through her PPT just as fast and played a Summoner's Rift construction video from YouTube—pausing it every few seconds to explain lane matchup geometry and objectives in excruciating detail, which made everyone around her cringe so hard it was almost impressive.
Ugh. What a terminal LoL addict.
Mayo's attitude was pure poison, sure—but Summoner's Rift was still a landmark with real merit. First of all, the name recognition. At least half of any streaming audience had probably played League at some point, which meant there was a lot of Summoner's Rift they could immediately relate to.
Just the brand recognition alone is half the battle already.
Which was probably why A-yeon had led with Bikini City in the first place—so viewers could lock a clear mental image into place without effort.
"Excellent. We've heard from our resident LoL maniac Mayo. Please give her a round of applause."
Clap clap clap—!
"Ahem! Everyone praise me more, geosida. Once Summoner's Rift is built, you'll all escape Bronze-Silver-Gold, geosida."
As if a building were some kind of religious totem or buff item. The funny part was that some of the viewers were actually buying it.
"……."
A dream collab between the LoL addicts and our LoL maniac. I moved on to the next turn fast.
"Finally my turn. The landmark I'm proposing is……"
What Subnitti had prepared was the Roman Colosseum—a magnificent shape that looked imposing and radiated presence just from a glance. She'd wrapped a massive circular lake around it to add natural beauty.
But compared to the earlier landmark candidates, it was honestly a little lacking in scale and everything else. Subnitti tried to make up for that with content potential.
"What is a Colosseum, right? We hold our own company server tournaments right there. Crown the 1v1 strongest. Or run it as 3v3 team battles."
It was a solid idea, no question. People always obsessed over the word "strongest." Put prize money on a tournament like that and you'd get both buzz and a real boost to our company's name recognition.
But this one's a problem. The concept overlaps way too hard.
Before long, Rena-ttang would scrap Purge Day and open an Arena that looked suspiciously like Subnitti's idea. No reason to build a landmark that might poke Rena-ttang the wrong way at a time like this.
Regrettably, the Roman Colosseum was out in my book.
"Then the next presenter is……"
"Seo-a, I'll go."
Lucy raised her hand carefully. The fourth presenter of today's meeting.
