Oh-ha Appears
Although she had been somewhat overshadowed by Mist and Highsooya, Oh-ha—who had claimed sixth place in the up rankings thanks to the enthusiastic support of the V-Live fandom—also made it safely into Rena World.
Unlike Mist, however, no one was there to give her a warm welcome.
She had entered late because of her schedule, and her weight class was no different from any other small-time virtual streamer. The cold reality of it was almost painful to watch.
But I already knew how this story ended.
Later on, Oh-ha would pick up a partner streamer and go on to win the grand prize at the 2023 year-end awards. Mist, on the other hand, would be so buried under scandals and controversy that he could barely even turn his stream on.
Two streamers who entered Rena World on the same day—and destinies that could not have been more different.
That was why you could never predict tomorrow in the streaming world.
“Disciple! I was so lonely all by myself last night!”
Oh-ha’s Minecraft character came charging toward me the moment I logged in early that morning. She was still wearing the default skin, which only made her look shabbier and more pitiful.
“Disciple? You still haven’t come to your senses. Mental-education punch!”
“Ugh?! Wh-why all of a sudden—”
I clicked my tongue at the flustered Oh-ha and set her straight.
“You still think this is the PUBG scene. Remember: this is Minecraft’s Rena World. Not ‘disciple’—it’s Senior. Senior.”
“Seo-a, why are you suddenly being so strict—”
“Tsk!”
“Yes! Understood, Senior!”
“Good. Keep it that way from now on.”
There was a reason Oh-ha was the only one among Rena World’s countless small-timers who actually made it. Game skill and diligence mattered, sure—but look at how quickly she adapted to the bit. That kind of sense and broadcast instinct was non-negotiable.
“Senior, this is my first time with Minecraft, so there’s a lot I don’t know. Could you help me out?”
“If you’re a beginner, didn’t Village Chief Plmong already teach you the controls and everything?”
“Yes, I learned the moment I came in yesterday.”
“Then you’re done.”
“Huh?”
“You’ve learned everything, so you may descend the mountain, junior.”
“……”
Ahem. Tease her twice and she might actually cry. Still, this was my PUBG mentor and future partner streamer. She deserved proper treatment.
“Alright, junior. Forget everything else and just grab this and follow me.”
“Huh? Wait—a diamond pickaxe?!”
I couldn’t exactly hand a complete newbie the absolute endgame pickaxe, so I passed her one with decent Efficiency and Fortune. Then I decided we would mine together for the day—Spartan training from A to Z.
“Junior, before we start mining, engrave one fact into your mind.”
“Yes? What should I remember?”
“From this moment on, your name is Chunsik.”
Nothing in my dictionary was free. Until she paid off the pickaxe and the one-on-one lesson fee, Oh-ha was my slave.
Oh-ha was a fast learner. Once I taught her something, she rarely forgot it, and after one or two demonstrations she could already follow along smoothly.
This was the so-called “social evil” known as a Baeg-chu—a Pangea TV meme that existed because Battle Royale-based streamers often pulled off absurdly broken performances. Especially in cash-staked CK matches, they played like ghosts.
It’s not a baseless meme either. When you actually look at their control, Baeg-chu really are on another level.
In Rena World and every Minecraft server that came after, the ones who made names for themselves through pure combat power were almost always Baeg-chu. League pros weren’t bad, but FPS veterans just felt exceptional.
Teaching Oh-ha made me feel that all over again. She, in turn, seemed pretty shocked by me.
“Senior, you explain things so clearly it’s almost scary. Thanks to you I’ve already mastered mining.”
“Okay. Then add fifty thousand Rena to the lesson fee.”
“……”
Oh-ha looked genuinely stunned by the little side contents I was running in Rena World—the construction company, the general store selling every kind of gear and item. What moved her most of all, though, was the Diamond CK I had planted in Minecraft for the first time.
“This is genuine innovation! You saw right through the structure of a game where Candy donations don’t flow well and fixed it by bringing in CK. The choice of event, the format, the rules—everything is perfect.”
Praise poured out of her like a true Battle Royale streamer who lived and died by CK. I could only look at her with an awkward smile.
No, Diamond CK… you were the one who made that before the regression.
But so much had already changed. I grinned and told her:
“If you like Diamond CK so much, five thousand Rena patent fee every time you run one.”
“……”
Casino my ass.
Gamblers always end up broke. Better to run a loan-shark business for the gambling addicts.
Nobody knows yet why the money is necessary.
The vehicle auction was just a midpoint you passed through. The true end content of Rena World was Mythic-grade gear—and obtaining it required an enormous war chest.
With enough money you can grab the spotlight at least three times on the same level as the big corporate streamers.
Casino opening, vehicle auction, Mythic gear. Those were the three chances I had in mind.
Only three times across the entire half-year server lifespan might sound sparse, but countless streamers vanished without ever even getting their names known. For a three-digit viewer streamer to stand toe-to-toe with five-digit corporate giants—those were golden opportunities. If I could seize them three times, every effort from server open onward would never feel wasted.
“The kids say they want to throw you a welcome party. Coming?”
“Hah! I’m genuinely moved, Senior. Let’s go right now!”
I returned to the village with Oh-ha. The quartz building glittered with presence.
Hmm. I should sell that off soon too.
It sat on prime real estate right next to the portal—which was exactly why I needed to unload it.
“Ah, you’re here.”
“Hello. I’m Miho from the V-Live crew.”
“I’m Mayo!”
“Lucy. I really enjoyed the content you did with Seo-a.”
“……!”
Even the other small-timers had ignored her, yet our three-digit-viewer crew members greeted Oh-ha with open arms. For the Oh-ha of right now, that had to feel pretty moving. People never forget who was kind to them during hard times; even after she succeeded, it would become a reason she looked on our crew favorably.
“Sit over here.”
“Whoa! What’s all this? Who am I that you’re putting out a feast like this?!”
Lucy had finally shown her skills. Oh-ha, who had been scavenging bread crumbs after arriving only yesterday, stared wide-eyed at the cake, sushi, and smoked chicken legs covering the table.
“Wow, that’s amazing. You can make food like this too?”
Cost-efficiency was terrible, but brewing alcohol was perfectly possible in Minecraft.
While Oh-ha happily stuffed her face, I exchanged meaningful glances with the crew. We had already confirmed she had used her last remaining Rena Coin on the way here. Timing it carefully, I suggested a commemorative photo and guided her to the prepared spot.
“Ah, before that—hand me the pickaxe for a sec. I’ll fix the durability for you.”
“Hell yeah! After-sales service is insane, Senior. Here you go.”
The moment I took the pickaxe back, everything was ready. I mined out the block under Oh-ha’s feet.
“Wha—? Aaaah!”
The block vanished and Oh-ha’s character dropped straight into the one-block-wide pit we had dug in advance. We all crowded around and peered down into the dark hole.
“Oh dear? You accidentally fell into a trap. Those are deepslate walls, so without a pickaxe you can’t get out. And you don’t have an escape Rena Coin either.”
“……”
A default-skinned character staring blankly upward looked genuinely stupid.
“Why are you doing this to me…?”
“I’m fair. I do this to everyone.”
“……If you keep this up I’ll have no choice but to tell the admin. You wanna go to jail?!”
Tsk tsk. Oh-ha still hadn’t grasped the situation. I had already been on the phone with the server owner first thing yesterday and the day before, and I had even slipped her bribes!
And most decisively…
“Rena-ttang is off today. Didn’t you see the notice?”
“Aaaaaaah!”
I whispered to the despairing Oh-ha in my sweetest voice.
“Actually, this is the final point of today’s lesson. Don’t trust people so easily.”
“I get it! I feel it in my bones right now, so just get me out!”
Simply letting her out would be no fun. I raised one finger and made my demand with complete confidence.
“One wish ticket and I’ll free you, junior.”
“……”
Not only Oh-ha herself—even the crew members around us were giving me icy stares.
What, am I the only trash here? Is that it?
