It All Started as a Joke
Otherworldly Destruction Gallery
It all started as a joke.
"I wanna be a Head Mod."
There was no particular reason.
Just like every meaningless gallery rotting away on the community boards, I simply wanted to be the Head Mod of one myself. That was the day I suddenly found myself coveting the seat and power of a Head Mod—the poor soul who scrubs away shock images and tactical nukes without a penny of pay.
Would you like to be appointed as the Administrator of the Otherworldly Destruction Gallery?
An unfamiliar message had appeared on the site's main page.
"Destruction? Well... honestly, anything would do."
I'd been drifting aimlessly from gallery to gallery, and out of sheer curiosity, I tapped the accept button.
[ Yes. ]
And just like that, I became the Head Mod of the Otherworldly Destruction Gallery.
Head Mod, please release some canned tuna...
It's already been three days since I've eaten a proper meal...
At this rate, I think I'm seriously going to die...
(a tasteful collage of cleavage, shot from above)
I haven't eaten in days and I'm so hungry T3T
I've been waiting for you and you alone, Head Mod...
"Oh, right. Time to hand out the food."
Whether in my past life or in this ruined otherworld, the start of my day was more or less the same: logging into the gallery and burning time on absolutely nothing. Having just woken up in my underground bunker, safely hidden from the magic beasts outside, I rolled over and opened the shop window.
[Canned Tuna] × 1,000 — Purchase complete!
[Water 250ml] × 1,000 — Purchase complete!
[Delivery complete!]
Thud!
The instant the purchase went through, a mountain of food came crashing down, filling every corner of the cramped bunker.
"I always wonder—how does this stuff even get in here?"
Releasing it to the gallery was simple enough.
Would you like to register these items on the Head Mod's Marketplace?
It was a built-in gallery feature—listing goods on the marketplace. Without a moment's hesitation, I hit Yes, and the mountains of food before my eyes vanished.
[Items have been listed!]
[All stock has sold out.]
Astonishingly, everything had sold out in exactly two seconds. This was the moment every last resident of the gallery had been waiting for with starving eyes, so the sellout speed was hardly surprising. It was a food giveaway I ran at the same time every day, yet I still couldn't help being amazed. Naturally, the moment I flipped from the Sales tab back to the Gallery tab, the feed was already regenerating at a blistering pace.
"Ah, this one's getting banned."
Once I'd also banned the scalpers slinking around in the crowd—reselling at several times the price—my morning routine wrapped up, along with the income it had raked in.
Mana dumplings—the currency of this otherworld.
"Ahh, and just how much is all this worth?"
Each one traded at roughly a dollar in Earth money, which meant 2,000 of them added up to a cool two grand. Considering I'd bought the lot with points earned from a handful of lazy clicks, the profit was undeniably enormous.

"Even with the world ended, everyone's sure having a blast."
I snickered as I took in the gallery, already being flooded with posts of praise. Then, all of a sudden, it hit me.
"This really is another world."
Humans weren't the only ones in this gallery. Elves, dwarves, and beastfolk logged in here too, and out there beyond the walls lurked monsters classified as magic beasts—zombies and the like.
This wasn't the Earth I knew.
It was another world entirely—one that had been utterly annihilated by every manner of apocalypse.
And I had become the Head Mod of that annihilated world.
