The Lizardmen's Submission
"Alright, Jurassic. Here is your first order. Gather your tribesmen and bring them to heel."
"Shwaak. Understood."
Jurassic answered coolly and started to approach the bound Lizardmen. I added a few words to him.
"Since this is your first order, I’ll be checking to see how well you perform."
"Sh-shwaaak?! Understood!"
Perhaps feeling the urgency, Jurassic scrambled off in a hurry. This bastard seems to follow orders quite well as long as the one giving them is stronger than he is. In short, he has a personality strictly rooted in obedience through sheer power.
That’s a decent trait for a subordinate.
—Papapat!
Anyway, once Jurassic ran over and started chattering away among his tribesmen, the atmosphere among the Lizardmen noticeably began to lift.
They must have been relieved to hear that I was going to spare them.
"Keruk...!"
"Kkeureuk."
The Goblins and Imps were still wary of the Lizardmen, but they would soon realize it was fine.
"Buril. Imsoongi. Come here."
"Keruk!"
"Kkeureuk!"
The two of them came running immediately.
"Listen closely, I’m going to explain this. That guy over there already had some strength to begin with, which is why he was able to speak the moment he became my subordinate."
"Is that so? Keruk! That’s a relief!"
"Heh heh heh, a relief, is it?"
"Kerureuk! Yes, it is! I thought the Demon King had already bestowed blessings upon such rootless bastards, and it almost hurt my feelings! Keruk!"
"You honest little bastard!"
—Beok-beok!
"Kae-rurung."
I immediately gave Buril’s head a good, hard rub. That’s just how the world works. When you already have loyal, long-standing subordinates, giving a high position to some newcomer with no history is bound to cause friction.
"Kkeureuk! Demon King! I thought the same thing!"
"Keruk! Use honorifics! You monkey!"
"Kkeureureuk! I thought so too! I’m glad that wasn’t the case!!"
Imsoongi seemed to have been thinking the same thing.
"Hey. If I have something good, do you really think I’d give it to someone else before I give it to you guys?"
As I said that, I patted Imsoongi’s head.
"Kkeureuk. That’s obvious!"
My feelings were conveyed well.
"Anyway. Looking at that guy, he follows my orders very well. So, lower your guard a bit. Let’s get this cleaned up."
"Keruk! Understood!"
And so, my subordinates began clearing the battlefield.
"Shwaak! Strong one! I have calmed all the tribesmen down!"
"Strong, what?"
"Shwaak?"
"No. Never mind. Call me whatever you want. Good. Now, release the Lizardmen’s bindings."
"Shwaaaak! Understood!"
Jurassic immediately released their restraints.
"Shwaaaak."
"Shwaak."
"Jururarak."
The freed Lizardmen stood there quietly. They were a bit scared, but they didn’t try to run away or emit any violent energy.
—Cheoeok.
It was the same when I stood before them. By subduing a single chieftain, the entire Lizardman tribe had fallen into my hands.
Now, they would become warriors who would throw their lives away for me. I intend to put them into more dangerous operations. To spare my Demon King’s dungeon family.
"..."
Thinking of that... no.
Never mind.
"Jurassic. Tell them to submit to me."
"Shwaak! Understood! Shurarararak!"
—Nalleum-nalleum!
As Jurassic flicked his tongue and shouted, the Lizardmen knelt. Having become a predator, I could tell. The prey had submitted to me.
"Jurassic. What do you plan to do with the bodies of your tribesmen?"
"Shwaak. We will let them flow down the water."
"Then do so. But."
"Shwaak?"
"How do you feel about us killing your tribesmen?"
"Shwaaaak. Strong one. You were strong. That is why we died. Shwaak. It is an unavoidable matter."
A remarkably cool-headed way of thinking.
"It is natural for the loser to die. Shwaak. But we survived. So, thank you. Shurararak."
Jurassic said that while nodding his head.
"Good. That’s enough. I am the one who spared you. So, you just need to follow me."
"Shwaak shwaak."
Then, let’s have a little talk with Jurassic before we leave.
What I told Jurassic was simple. Move to the area near my home. As it happens, there is a lake near my place that Lumika used to use. Since Lizardmen seem to do well in the water, they should be able to live there just fine.
"Move... Shwaak. And send a messenger every single day?"
"Yes. And when I tell you to come, you all come."
"It is difficult, but... understood. Shwaak."
"You will be
