Three Hundred Catties of Rice, Five Chickens, Five Turkeys Too!
Yeop Hyeon and his group entered the bustling streets of the Imperial City. They headed straight for Chwi Seon Ru. It was because of the prestigious plaque Yeop Hyeon possessed, which allowed him to buy goods at a steep discount.
They arrived at the most prosperous spot in the Imperial City. Before their eyes stood a magnificent nine-story building, resplendent and grand—that was the famed Chwi Seon Ru.
Yeop Hyeon entered with Yeop Ryeong and two burly men at his side. A woman of striking beauty greeted them warmly.
“Young master, what might you need?”
When Yeop Hyeon pulled out his VIP plaque from his bosom, the woman’s eyes widened in shock. She bowed deeply once more.
“Honored guest, please follow me!”
She led them to a lavish private chamber. No sooner had they sat than someone appeared with a serving of yeongcha, spiritual tea. Moments later, an elderly man entered the room.
The elder bowed to the four of them before addressing Yeop Hyeon.
“May I have the honored guest’s name?”
“Yeop Hyeon.”
Yeop Hyeon?
The elder looked up in astonishment, his gaze fixing on Yeop Hyeon. It was indeed that Yeop Hyeon, whose name was on everyone’s lips in the Imperial City!
“What does Young Master Yeop desire?”
Yeop Hyeon pondered for a moment, his expression grave as he replied.
“Three hundred catties of rice, five chickens, five turkeys, ten pigs, ten cows, five barrels of oil……”
Everyone in Chwi Seon Ru stared in wide-eyed disbelief.
The elder himself couldn’t close his mouth as he listened.
Mu Yun Qi sat in the corner, pretending not to be with Yeop Hyeon, busying himself elsewhere.
Bai Ze’s face was stiff and unnatural.
Shopping for this at Chwi Seon Ru!?
Who the hell comes to Chwi Seon Ru to buy rice!?
After a long while, Yeop Hyeon’s order seemed to finally end—only for him to hurriedly add more.
“Oh, and don’t forget—half off. Half!”
“……”
As the elder hesitated, Yeop Hyeon leaned back casually and asked.
“What, you saying you won’t sell?”
The elder forced an awkward smile.
“Young Master Yeop, it’s not that we won’t sell. It’s just that Chwi Seon Ru doesn’t deal in such items……”
“The one who gave me this plaque said Chwi Seon Ru would fulfill any of my demands without question. Looks like it was all hot air after all!”
The elder’s face paled. He bowed deeply.
“Young Master Yeop, please wait just a moment. Though Chwi Seon Ru doesn’t stock such goods, I’ll send men to procure them at once. We’ll have everything ready shortly—please bear with us!”
Yeop Hyeon nodded.
“Alright then, sorry for the trouble!”
The elder and his attendants rushed out of the room. Now only Yeop Hyeon’s group remained.
Mu Yun Qi gazed at Yeop Hyeon with awe.
“Man, that’s gotta be the black plaque—the second-highest tier of Chwi Seon Ru VIP badges, right? You’ve got some serious pull!”
Yeop Hyeon chuckled.
“It’s just a plaque.”
“Chwi Seon Ru’s the ritziest spot in the Imperial City, and you’re buying rice and oil here? What a thick-skinned guy……”
“It’s cheaper than elsewhere! Unless you wanna cough up extra coin?”
Mu Yun Qi shut his mouth like a clam.
Soon the elder returned, bowing to Yeop Hyeon before speaking.
“Young Master Yeop, we’ve prepared everything as requested. It’s all loaded onto two carriages, and we’ll ensure safe delivery. Is there anything else you need?”
“Thanks! So, how much for it all?”
“For you, Young Master Yeop, it’s on the house!”
Yeop Hyeon shook his head with a smile. He placed a money pouch on the table.
“There’s thirty-six gold coins in here. That oughta cover it. We’re good!”
With that, Yeop Hyeon took Yeop Ryeong’s hand and left the room.
Bai Ze and Mu Yun Qi scrambled after them.
Left alone, the elder gave a wry smile. He’d intended to give the goods for free to forge a connection with Yeop Hyeon. But Yeop Hyeon, not wanting to owe Chwi Seon Ru any favors, had refused.
At the opulent entrance of Chwi Seon Ru, two carriages waited. They were stuffed to the brim with goods, and at the back were two massive crates. From within came the clamor of all manner of livestock.
“Let’s go!”
At Yeop Hyeon’s shout, Bai Ze and Mu Yun Qi climbed aboard. Yeop Hyeon followed with Yeop Ryeong. And so they set off, carriages rumbling.
Oink-oink!
Cluck-cluck!
As the beasts bellowed, the Chwi Seon Ru elder watched the departing carriages, shaking his head. In his hand was Yeop Hyeon’s money pouch.
Once on the main road, all eyes turned to their carriages.
But it couldn’t be helped. Canglan Academy was quite a distance from the city.
They couldn’t trek to market every day! And it’d waste no small amount of time, so they had to stock up big.
That’s when someone shouted at them.
“Hey, that’s Yeop Hyeon!”
Yeop Hyeon!
At the cry, countless gazes snapped to Yeop Hyeon’s carriage.
Feeling the stares, even Yeop Hyeon was flustered.
Is my reputation really this high!?
“It’s really him!”
“That’s the trash Cangmu Academy tossed out! Man, Canglan’s got no shame—picking up someone else’s garbage!”
“Heard the National Scholar took a liking to him, though?”
“Even the National Scholar’s human—she can misjudge! He’s just Qi Transformation Realm. With that level, he wouldn’t even qualify for menial work at Cangmu!”
“……”
The crowd spewed whatever came to mind about Yeop Hyeon without restraint.
Yeop Hyeon ignored them, pretending not to hear. People always tore others down to feel superior, didn’t they? He’d long since grasped the ways of the world.
“Don’t badmouth my big brother!”
Yeop Ryeong’s eyes blazed as she yelled at the crowd.
“What’s my brother ever done to deserve this crap!?”
A man shouted back.
“Hahaha! What’s wrong with calling trash trash? Upset? Then get down here and fight me! Ha……”
“Big brother, beat him up!”
Yeop Ryeong’s face flushed red as she pointed at the man.
Yeop Hyeon leaped from the carriage like lightning. In an instant, the man flew back, slamming into a wall thirty feet away before crumpling limply.
Blood poured from the fallen man’s mouth; bones shattered, he couldn’t even twitch.
The market fell deathly silent.
Yeop Hyeon had struck!
Mu Yun Qi shook his head. From yesterday’s events, he already knew: Yeop Hyeon didn’t care if people insulted him, but touching his sister? Unforgivable. And that guy would regret it soon enough!
“Beating an innocent man out of nowhere—what a monster!”
“Does he even know the law?”
“……”
The crowd pointed fingers at Yeop Hyeon, but none dared step up.
Yeop Hyeon swept the market with cold eyes, then bellowed.
“All of you, shut your mouths!”
Silence blanketed the area.
Yeop Hyeon roared at them again.
“Cut the bullshit! If any of you don’t like me, come at me! I’ll take you all on!”
“What about me?”
A young man burst from the crowd. Faster than he’d charged, he smashed into the ground on one side.
“Anyone else?”
As Yeop Hyeon glared fiercely around, people averted their eyes and scattered.
Classic mob—fierce to the weak, meek to the strong.
“Haha! Since when did Canglan Academy start causing this much chaos in the Imperial City!?”
From one side, three men in black robes stepped forward.
“Cangmu Academy students!”
At someone’s shout, the silenced crowd erupted in clamor once more.
Emboldened by the Cangmu students’ arrival!
Mu Yun Qi and Bai Ze’s eyes grew icy. As if on cue, they leaped from the carriage to flank Yeop Hyeon.
Canglan and Cangmu couldn’t coexist under the same sky!
They were fated for life-or-death duels. From the start, encounters between the academies always sparked trouble.
Later, as Canglan’s numbers dwindled sharply, such clashes grew rare—Canglan deliberately avoided them.
The lead Cangmu student approaching Yeop Hyeon sneered.
“Looks like you’re that trash Cangmu discarded. Qi Transformation? Damn, Canglan’s hit rock bottom, taking in scraps like you……”
Suddenly, Yeop Hyeon’s figure blurred skyward, his foot slamming into the man’s chest.
Thud!
Blood spraying, the man curled in agony as he soared through the air.
The crowd’s eyes bulged.
Even Mu Yun Qi and Bai Ze were speechless. They hadn’t sensed Yeop Hyeon’s movement at all.
The market hushed again.
Yeop Hyeon kicked at the remaining two, still dazed and uncomprehending. Their bodies flew back in an instant.
He didn’t stop. Like the wind, he appeared before them and unleashed a perfect palm strike at their waists. And then—
Clink!
Clink?
Yeop Hyeon swiftly returned to Mu Yun Qi and Bai Ze, whispering.
“Run.”
The two, geared up for a brawl, froze in confusion.
Run?
Misheard that?
By then, Yeop Hyeon was already on the carriage, whipping the horses.
“Hyah!”
Everyone in the market gawked at Yeop Hyeon’s fleeing carriage.
Fight, then steal money and bolt!?
“……”
Beat people and rob them blind!?
The crowd stood stunned.
Snapping to, Bai Ze and Mu Yun Qi bolted for the carriages.
Gazes now turned to the three Cangmu students.
Their faces burned with rage.
When had Cangmu students ever suffered such humiliation? Beaten was bad enough—now robbed too! By Canglan, no less!
This was utter disgrace.
The apparent leader bellowed.
“Chase them!”
He shot forward; the other two followed.
Letting this slide would make them laughingstocks at Cangmu—and tarnish the academy’s name!
For ages, Cangmu had been the bully. When had they endured such shame from Canglan?
This insult demanded blood!
The trio’s eyes blazed with killing intent.
