The Cost of a True Shelter
They had just lost their lives. There's no grand reason for a person to die. A minor mistake, a slight misjudgment. That's more than enough to kill anyone. But few people ever get the chance to realize that.
Doomsday preppers obsess the most over their bunkers. Unlike modern apartments with all the basics covered, a bunker demands you handle everything from water and heating to space, ventilation, and even location. From start to finish, it's on the builder to solve every major issue. And you can't half-ass it—each detail ties directly to survival. Tossing tear gas down a vent is basic knowledge for any special forces team these days. So most serious preppers pour their money into these bunkers. More than you'd think.
"Whoa... my bank's totally wiped out."
I'd burned through a ton preparing mine. Finding land was the first hurdle. Somewhere remote but easy to monitor surroundings, with decent space, not too far from the city. How many spots like that are left in cramped Korea? For security, I hired different contractors in pieces—some subcontractors so far down the chain they didn't even know what they were building. The cash I dumped into it...
If the apocalypse never comes—knock on wood—I'll be chomping emergency rations for a while.
'Least I won't die, so count my blessings.'But the end result was cozy. Not five-star in bunker terms, but solid hotel level.
'Bit big for one guy... but better than cramped.'Space wasn't exactly luxurious, though. Needed a separate freezer for food storage right away. Corner stacked with novels and comics. Stories of bunker dwellers offing themselves from depression are common. Gotta have ways to kill time, even mechanically.
'Plenty of time left, so stock food later. Weapons next.'Tomahawk axe—better known as steak these days—was already home. Ordered a crossbow and bolts for range. Once the end hits, guns and ammo vanish first. Humanity reverts to melee era. Hit the Naver cart and mashed purchase.
Crossbow and bolts on the way.
A world where you can order crossbows online... This pack's got enough punch for bears. What needs more firepower? Blue whale? Giant squid? Not my problem as a civilian, but damn convenient.
'By the time I need it, government's long gone anyway.'Skimped on bolts for cost—crossbows reload slow anyway. Not a big deal against 'zombies'; worst case, I mod it myself.
Next up: generator. Even in apocalypse, electricity's essential. Freezers, heating—must-haves. In Korea's stellar weather? Non-negotiable. Better get zombie-bit than freeze to death shivering.
'Thought it'd be easier. Options were slim.'Solar too visible, nixed. Manual too weak—even one bulb's a stretch. Settled on a massive diesel beast. Size means noise, but unavoidable.
Plus all the other builds—piping, whatever. All cash. No wonder prepping's a rich hobby. Stockpiling cans is amateur hour. Half-tempted to yacht the oceans. Nah, sea monster chow ending. Pass on 21st-century Moby-Dick. No Ismael luck here.
"Woocha! Last one!"
Installed generator, hauled in basics: bed, desk, chair. Less "minimalist" more "something's missing." Fine for a shut-in like me.
"Hmm, looks decent decked out?"
Maturity payout vibes. Hope for a practical-pretty bunker contest. Encouragement award at least.
"Ugh, work done. Nap time."
Nothing till deliveries. Monitoring world's spin pre-apoc matters too. Just forum lurking, but still.
Hit the site—hottest post burning hotter.
Tsk tsk, the level of these doomsday nuts these days
Short aggro bait with screenshots rocketed to daily best. Endless recs, views. Mockery of doomsday types like me.
┕Yup retards. Anyone with a brain wouldn't wait for doom
┕Loser life failures. No will to change the world, so pray it all burns
To clarify: doomers don't wish doom. Nukes, pandemics, warming—predictions fill pages. We just prep for inevitable maybe.
But crowds don't debate; they mock. Need punching bags for fragile egos.
'...Situation's weird.'Figured Last Day would blow up eventually—site's too odd. Now hushed, but inevitable spotlight.
Spotlight as punchline? Different story. First big exposure: forum joke. Now everything's dismissed as laughs. Means fewer taking doom seriously. Result: corpse piles.
Noah pre-flood vibes. Some sense unease, but mockery buries it.
—Per them we'd be dooomed 100x already lol
—Aww we need attention too lololol
Noise marketing—consumed as spectacle. Doomers as clowns.
~ That site from before? Kinda wild, but believing it? Too naive. Guns vanishing like dust in a game? WW3 more plausible.
Survival YouTuber mocks. Mystery site article with "experts" dismissing. News ties to game addiction, paints as crazies.
Doomers... thrilled.
Even here, true believers minority. Just enjoying rare bait. Bored folks needing shared hobbies. No real doomers. Serious talkers called tryhards, boomers—hate atmosphere.
"Hmm."
Complex feelings watching. Hate fave game/gamers dissed as losers. But expected—forums are emotional dumpsters for unsayables.
Can't fight the masses.
'But this means everyone dies.'Most die at start anyway. But unprepared death vs. prepped last stand? Different.
People treat crisis as memes. Even me, prepping ages, wishes more time. These fools? Doomed.
'Can't prophet-post my intel. Insane.'Proof emerges slow. Then Last Day users hunted—not kindly. For info squeeze. I'm OG vet. Ex-users remember my nick.
No thanks on exposure.
'OG status means more enemies.'Realization: To them, doom and game = jokes. Words = overimmersion troll. Mouthful, but no screams for them.
"Sigh."
Conclusion: ignore. Do me. Post-apoc, trust no one. Fewer people, higher odds. Humans deadlier than zombies.
.......Anon warning on site ok? Gained info here. VPN post-delete fine.
Goodwill post.
But isn't this too lightly taken?
Really think apocalypse starts—what then? Better prep a bit now imo. Curious 'bout Last Day? I'll answer : )

Reason: Quit the trolling you mom-fucked cunt. Letting floaters slide made you rampant. No parents to teach ya?
"FUCK..."
Why do nice guys finish last?
How much time passed? Apocalypse breathing down necks. Society total chaos. Me? Deeper species doubt.
Then DM—from my ban-happy mod.
Snorted, replied.
Dunno if mod replied. Blocked 'em too.
