Prologue
Fate is inevitable.
That was what I had always believed. That was why, whenever I saw people in myths or fiction struggling desperately to escape their destined ends, I honestly couldn't understand them.
"In the end, trying so hard to dodge it is what brings them right into its jaws. Why thrash around like that?"
I admit it now.
I was dead wrong. Anyone would want to claw their way out if they were told they were doomed to die—or suffer a fate far worse.
Because now, I'd just learned of my own goddamned fate.
"Polites! That is the prince of Ithaca, Lord Odysseus! He happens to be the very same age as you!"
