So, Shall We Summarize the Newbie Situation?
The title of the post read: So, to sum up the newbie's situation, it's like this?
1. Thanks to the Necromancer class, the newbie can lurk in the Dead Gallery while still alive.
2. Not only that, he can even revive one of the gallery members using necromancy.
3. So definitely revive me. I'll sweep the first floor and everything else for you, newbie.
Was it because all the users of the Dead Gallery had died inside the Tower?
Every single one of them fell within the range of my Necromancy.
But that didn't mean I could revive them all.
I had already tested Necromancy once on the high-nick user named BlackSwordMaster.
Insufficient death energy remaining.
Cannot revive the target.
Only that message came back.
Current Death Energy: 100/100
Because my death energy had already hit the maximum, there was no way to revive BlackSwordMaster right now. But if the total amount increased later, I might be able to bring him back someday.
I looked at the various users while reading the Dead Gallery post.
Next to each user's nickname, whether they could be revived with Necromancy was displayed.
Using that, I quickly organized the list of people I could currently revive and left a reply for BlackSwordMaster.
After carefully reading through BlackSwordMaster's explanation, I scrolled back up and looked at the completely different reactions from the Cleaner and the Black Saintess.
One was actively appealing to me in order to be revived.
The other had left the choice entirely up to me, as if it didn't matter either way.
In cases like this, usually...
I had made my decision.
All that remained was reviving the Black Saintess.
The Black Saintess said nothing.
Did she not want to be revived?
The place called the Dead Gallery that I had briefly looked at seemed like a kind of prison.
Classified as the 'deceased' for some unknown reason, they couldn't rest even in death.
If they couldn't rest, wasn't it normal to want to come back to life rather than just watch from beyond?
See? The moment I made my decision, the Cleaner's reaction grew desperate.
That was probably the normal response.
So why did the Black Saintess seem so reluctant to come back to life?
Well, that wasn't something I needed to consider.
If she really hated the idea, she would have refused earlier.
“Necromancy.”
Would you like to revive the deceased 'Black Saintess'?
“Yes.”
Necromancy (EX) is recreating the living body of the deceased 'Black Saintess'.
Current Death Energy: 0/100
I felt all the death energy that had accumulated in my body drain away completely.
The energy that left me gathered in front of me and slowly began to take human form.
“⋯.”
The Black Saintess, who had been keeping her eyes closed, slowly opened them.
Then our eyes met.
Black nun's habit. Ruby-red eyes that looked like they had been plucked straight from a gemstone.
Had I ever made eye contact with a woman this beautiful before?
“Hoo... hoooo... Black Saintess?”
When I caught my breath and called out to her, the Black Saintess slowly approached me.
Then she gently placed her hand on top of my head.
“I'll try placing a curse on you.”
Along with the Black Saintess's coldly spoken words, I felt something spreading rapidly throughout my entire body from her hand.
“What I just used was a curse of disease. It makes you far more vulnerable to illness and drastically lowers your immune system.”
I flinched—
Maybe because of the memory of catching sepsis when my immunity had dropped before.
For a moment my body trembled, but I bit my lip hard and focused on what kind of changes were happening inside me.
“⋯.”
After a brief moment passed like that,
the cold sweat that had been flowing stopped, and my ragged breathing calmed down.
Not only that, I felt power overflowing throughout my entire body.
A sense of elation surged through my veins, as if I could accomplish anything right now.
“It really does create synergy, just like BlackSwordMaster predicted.”
When I smiled in relief, the Black Saintess, who had been looking at me with cold eyes, opened her mouth.
“If... if BlackSwordMaster's prediction had been wrong, what were you planning to do by choosing me?”
“⋯.”
The Black Saintess's question was completely reasonable.
If there had been no synergy, the chances of me dying on the first floor would have been extremely high.
“But if the prediction is correct, the return is that much greater, isn't it?”
“⋯”
“Thanks to you... it seems like I won't have to worry about dying on the first floor, at least.”
“Gambling with your life is not a good thing.”
“If you thought that, you could have refused my choice...?”
“That is...”
The Black Saintess, unable to answer my counter-question, removed her hand from my head.
Waiting time has elapsed.
Moving to the first floor.
At the same time, the waiting time ran out completely.
The surrounding scenery changed in an instant.
Exterminate the swarming monster legion!
📍 Spawned Hobgoblins: 50
📍 Spawned Orc Wolf Riders: 10
In the middle of a vast plain.
Rumble—
I immediately turned my head toward the sound of thunderous noise.
Far away, beyond the horizon, a cloud of dust was racing straight toward me.
Piercing through that dust cloud, the first thing visible to the naked eye were hulking green monsters charging across the field atop massive wolves.
“Uh... now that I think about it, I don't have any attack skills...”
“⋯.”
At my murmur, the Black Saintess walked past me and stood in front.
She clasped her hands together in prayer and raised an inverted cross.
“A weeping lamb sitting down.”
“A foolish beast.”
“A mirror that shows false truths.”
Every time the Black Saintess spoke those incomprehensible words, changes occurred among the monster legion.
The charging momentum of the legion suddenly faltered.
They began breaking formation or attacking their own allies.
I looked at the Black Saintess with eyes that demanded an explanation.
“I broke their courage and made them stupid. I also showed them hallucinations.”
“Then what about me?”
“It should work in your favor, newbie.”
It was true. Even when I looked at that massive monster army, I didn't feel particularly afraid.
If anything, I felt courage welling up from deep inside my heart.
“Would you like to fight them yourself?”
“Um... that sounds a bit scary.”
“Liar.”
“⋯.”
“You look excited. Like you're having fun.”
“Is that how I look?”
“Yes.”
“Even so, I don't have a weapon right now.”
“⋯.”
“Ah, I get it. I just need to fight, right?”
I walked toward the monster legion with a sly smile on my face.
I picked up one of the weapons they had dropped while fighting among themselves.
“A spear? Never thought I'd be using one of these in my life.”
Since I had been watching the hobgoblins' infighting for a while, I roughly knew how to use it.
I gripped below the spearhead with one hand and the shaft with the other.
Then I lowered my stance, shifted my center of gravity downward, put my weight into it, and thrust!
Shunk—!
Two of them were skewered by my strike and went limp.
“Pretty good performance.”
Current Death Energy: 10/100
Would you like to revive the corpse 'Hobgoblin'?
A sly grin spread across my face.
From now on, it was time for the necromancer.
