Chapter Title: An Advertisement Offer Arrives

- Forge ahead. That is the fate entrusted to you.
One day, while watching YouTube, I stumbled upon some game ad with an overly cringey line like that.
Ah, this must be the one. The new subculture mobile game from Korea that's been blowing up lately. Looks like it's finally out.
I only caught a glimpse, but the character designs seemed pretty solid overall. The problem with these kinds of domestic games is they always get slammed with a truckload of hate for that infamous "trust the devs" business model.
Hope they don't screw it up this time.
Click.
Thinking about it, I decided to search it up on a portal site. Typed in "Last Destiny," and a bunch of related articles popped up. I clicked on one.
📰 Breaking News SV Studio's latest, 'Last Destiny', finally launches. SV Studio, which had been struggling financially, received funding from Cheongsung Culture—a subsidiary of Cheongsung Group—on June 28th last year, allowing them to kick development back into gear.
Cheongsung Culture stated, "Game development will be a cornerstone for future cultural growth, and this was a long-term investment toward that end," and they've supported several other studios besides SV Studio.
'Last Destiny' is a subculture collection RPG aiming to draw gamers' attention through aggressive marketing targeted at internet broadcasters.
According to total director PD Kim Jaemin...

.
From skimming it, looks like Cheongsung Group bankrolled this one to completion.
And aggressive marketing, huh? Already jealous of the streamers getting those ad deals. No way something like that would come my way, though. Not for a small-timer like me.
"Meow."
I let out a bitter sigh as I slumped on the sofa. That's when a snow-white British Shorthair padded over to me.
The queen of the house, you could say. Her name's Milk, the one ray of sunshine in my otherwise lonely bachelor life.
"Alright, Milk. Want some churu?"
"Meeooow."
True to form, she came hunting for her treat. Her eyes lit up the second I tapped the cabinet where I keep it.
She's got quite the appetite for such a petite girl.
Snip.
I pulled out one of her daily rationed churu sticks and snipped the top open with scissors.
The weird smell wafting out still turned my stomach, but hey, that's my human nose for you. Milk didn't seem to mind one bit.
Her intense stare was basically a death threat if I didn't hand it over pronto. I flinched and squeezed the whole thing out onto the edge of the wrapper.
"Here you go, eat up."
Slurp, slurp.
The juicy sounds echoed as she wolfed it down with every squeeze.
You'd think I'd starved her for days. This is the same girl who polishes off her kibble without fail.
Anyway, after playing with Milk for a bit, she lost interest first. I headed back to my bedroom-cum-workroom and booted up the PC.
I always say it: bedrooms and workspaces should be separate. The room just ends up looking messier, and space efficiency tanks.
Problem is, with my tiny place, repurposing the one spare room as a study and closet makes splitting them impossible. Maybe I should just move.
"......"
Mulling that over, I checked my usual influx of emails. One subject line jumped out at me.
Sender: "SV Studio." Same game dev from that Last Destiny article I read this morning. Why would they email me?
A flicker of hope stirred, but I tamped it down—no use getting ahead of myself. I took a breath and opened it.
And shortly after...
"WAAAAAAAAH!"
A scream—or was it a cheer?—burst from my throat.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ ⚙ SYSTEM NOTIFICATION ⚙ 'Cosmo' has started broadcasting. 'Got My First Ad Deal Ever!!!!!'
The title alone had my heart pounding, but I pulled myself together, waited for viewers to trickle in, and went live.
💬 Comments — Cosmo Absolute Guardian Hi Cosmo~ — Elephant Hoou Hi Cosmo~ — Hundred Flowers Uproar Title for real? — Good Thoughts What ad did you get??? As expected, besides the usual greetings, tons of viewers jumped straight to grilling me about the ad in the title.
Couldn't help but puff up a bit. I decided to chat idly while more piled in.
"Okay, okay, calm down everyone. I'll explain nice and slow."
— Neighbor Raises Hani donated 1,000 won.
> Boss acting all high and mighty after landing an ad? Super sus, super chat lololol first from me
— Octopus Sashimi agreed — White Forest super chat lololol — You Know Wassand Telling us to calm down when you're the most hyped lolololol Ahem. These punks come in on my big day and start roasting me right away.
But fine, I'll let it slide with grace today. Like the title says, this is the day I landed my first-ever ad deal.
— Cosmo Absolute Guardian donated 10,000 won.
> What ad did you snag? Congrats either way!
"Whoa, thanks for the 10k donation. Was just about to get into it."
I cleared my throat to thank the chairwoman's generous donation when a chat caught my eye.
— Elephant Hoou Last Destiny, right? It's been hot lately "Whoa, spot on! How'd you guess?"
— Please All Positive tons of articles yeah — White White Popped up right away on YT today lmao for real — BINGO Article said aggressive marketing to streamers and boom, ads drop Aha, so everyone saw the same article I did. No surprise—it's plastered all over the net. Weirder if someone missed it.
Makes my explanation easier.
"You guys saw the article too? I thought you had hidden cams in my house or something. Scared me!"
— tws2425 Why would anyone cam your place? Nothing to see lol — Ate Rice and Just Woke Up fr lol — Arisa Jowa Anything worth eyeing? "You little..."
Infuriating, but... facts hurt. No comeback.
Fine, let's fight fair with lies and propaganda, you bastards.
"Anyway, shocked someone nailed it right away... But I'll give the short version now. Ad stream's scheduled for next Friday!"
Since it was ad-related, I ditched my casual tone for full corporate polish. Chat exploded with congrats like they'd been waiting.
— Elephant Hoou o — Moscos congrats — Cro-Magnon congrats — One Punch Two Hundred Made it big with a corp finally? "No big corp deal here. Let's not chug that kimchi soup just yet, folks."
Calmed the excited crowd and pulled up the image from the email—the promo poster for that Last Destiny mobile game from the article.
"As you all guessed, it's Last Destiny from SV Studio. I screamed my head off when I saw the email."
— Cosmo Absolute Guardian You must've been thrilled "Duh, of course! Who'd think an ad would land on a nobody like me?"
Ads are all about exposure. Companies naturally chase big celebs or streamers with huge audiences.
Obviously, I'm not the only one they approached, but just being on that list? Thrilling enough.
Pure speculation, but maybe the Tweet party played a key role.
Sure, it looked casual, but those invites were Tweet's nod to streamers worth platform support.
Great way to filter ad-worthy talent from the outside view, too.
Double blessings, huh?
"Best part? The ad folks knew me inside out. Even stuff like how I occasionally play mobile games or what genres I stream."
— Alpaca Hunter They did their homework o_o — Lucid Dream 7 fr? — Lock on Glasses wild lololol I shared bits from our follow-up phone call, and viewers mirrored my exact reaction from back then.
It is kinda spooky. Sure, ad buyers scout streamers beforehand, but this level of detail? Didn't see it coming.
"Oh, and they're inviting me to AGP the day before launch. Planning to go, obviously."
AGP stands for Anime Game Party, the big annual event around this time.
As the name says, it's for checking out anime and new games hands-on. My ad game will have a booth there, too.
— Seafood Bibim Sauce o agp stream? — BlueMangaGame face reveal tho — Moscos just wear a mask lol "Nah, no stream. Just gonna check it out. Streamers can attend freely, and I'm curious about the game anyway."
— Elephant Hoou ㅋㅂ — Soju-Flavored Hand Cream No stream? Weak sauce I poured cold water on it, and they all sounded disappointed. Some begged for a first-person cam of the festival vibe, but I wasn't feeling it.
— Cosmo Absolute Guardian Where's AGP held? "Think it's at Atex. First time for me too, so not totally sure..."
— Cosmo Absolute Guardian Aha... Wanna check it out sometime. Meanwhile, the chairwoman—unlike otakus like me—seemed to be hearing about AGP for the first time but chatted like she was intrigued.
If we bumped into each other there? Epic comedy gold.
Not that we'd recognize one another.
