The Bizarre "Fate" Bestowed Upon the Quirkless (Prologue)
We live in the age of Quirks. It all began with the news of a baby born glowing in Beijing General Hospital in China. From there, people manifesting superhuman powers started appearing gradually across the world, and before long, society had come to call these abilities Quirks. They seeped into everyday life, becoming utterly commonplace.
With 80% of the global population possessing Quirks, their impact on society was profound. Theft, murder, terrorism... Crime rates skyrocketed as people in every country began using their Quirks for all sorts of vile acts. Society branded these criminals Villains, and to combat them, the state introduced a special new profession.
That was the birth of the Hero.
"It's alright now! Why? Because I am here!!!"
In this Quirk-filled society overrun by rampaging Villains, Heroes shone like beacons of light. They saved lives, crushed Villains, and restored peace, the one and only hope. Everyone admired them, yearned for them, dreamed of becoming one. This was an era of romance, brimming with hope in the age of Quirks.
But...
Not everyone who dreamed of becoming a Hero could reach that dream. In a world where possessing a Quirk was taken for granted, there were those rare few born without one. Society called them the Quirkless. Mocked by others, overlooked, dismissed as unnecessary...
Our story's protagonist is one such Quirkless middle school student, a boy who was childhood friends with Izuku Midoriya, the curly green-haired kid from Orudera Middle School with his messy, unkempt locks.
And right now, to that boy...
"Do you believe in gravity?"
A strange fate, neither coincidence nor mere connection, was drawing near.
