Chapter 6: Generously Donating the Prize Money
Chapter 6: Generously Donating the Prize Money
I had just returned to my seat when a voice came from behind me. "Yuan? Why are you just getting here? School’s almost over."
The speaker was a friend of mine named Wang Shuo—unremarkable in looks, but a decent student.
"It’s nothing," I replied, tidying my desk. "Something came up at home, so I had to go back and handle it."
Wang Shuo gave a snicker. "Makes sense. A rich heir like you, Yuan, must have a lot of family business to attend to."
"Screw off," I said with a laugh, giving him a playful punch.
My family was indeed wealthy, but the rest of the school didn't know the extent of it; they only guessed that I came from a slightly better-than-average background.
Wang Shuo muttered, "Why didn't the beautiful Teacher Chu show up this afternoon? That’s not like her. She used to do rounds in the classroom dozens of times a day."
"Who knows?" I gave a faint smile. "Maybe the gorgeous Chu had some private business of her own to handle?"
As I said this, I couldn't help but feel a surge of smugness. The goddess in your hearts—the great beauty Chu—was fucked by me in her office for the entire afternoon. Right now, her pussy is still filled with my cum, and she even had to use a pad to keep it from leaking out.
"Yuan, she’s here." Wang Shuo suddenly ducked his head and sat up straight.
The originally noisy classroom fell silent in an instant.
At the door stood Chu Ning, dressed in a white shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Her beautiful eyes were cold as ice, and her face was frosted with a stern expression as she swept her gaze over everyone in the room.
After staring down the students for a full minute, she finally walked slowly up to the podium.
Thud!
Chu Ning slammed her books onto the desk. Her face was frigid, and her tone was severe to the extreme. "As soon as the bell rings, you start shouting! Go look at the other classes—what are they doing during the break?! What is there for you all to be so loud about in here?!"
"Did those of you making noise consider the students who are trying to study? Do you have any respect for your classmates?"
The classroom was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. My deskmate, Li Jing, didn't even dare to breathe. I kept my head down, staring at my desk, mimicking the posture of every other student.
Ring...
Just then, the bell for the final period rang.
A few students hurried through the door at the last second, but Chu Ning didn't let them off. "You latecomers, go stand in the back."
None of them dared to utter a word; they all slunk to the back of the room with their books.
I had to admit, the strict, icy version of Teacher Chu standing there now was a world away from the woman who had been moaning breathlessly under me just a while ago.
Chu Ning opened her textbook. "Your Chinese teacher has something to attend to, so I’ll be subbing this period."
"Furthermore, I have two announcements."
As soon as she said that, the students looked up. After all, it was Friday, and the two-day weekend was about to begin.
"First, you have Saturday and Sunday off. Be careful on your way home."
The classroom immediately erupted in cheers.
A rare smile appeared on Chu Ning's face, but then her gaze suddenly shifted toward me. My heart tightened for a moment.
"Second, I want to congratulate Lin Yuan for winning the gold medal in the Provincial Middle School Mathematics Competition. Let’s give him a round of applause."
She was the first to start clapping. I looked at her in surprise; we had spent the entire afternoon together in the office, yet she hadn't breathed a word about this.
"That’s badass, Yuan!" Wang Shuo, sitting behind me, gave me an excited punch on the shoulder. "Another award! How many is that now?!"
I gave him a small smile in response, but then the classroom was filled with thunderous applause. It was clear I was quite popular with my classmates.
Once the applause died down, I stood up and bowed to my classmates in thanks.
Chu Ning spoke again. "It is indeed impressive that Lin Yuan was able to beat out the students from the 'Competition Classes' of both our school and others to take the gold." Her tone shifted slightly. "But this is far from enough. Lin Yuan needs to keep working hard."
She pulled out two bank cards. "This is the ten thousand yuan competition prize, and an additional eighty-eight thousand, eight hundred and eighty-eight yuan from the school as a reward. Lin Yuan, come up and receive your prizes."
I quickly stood up and walked to the podium.
Teacher Chu placed the two bank cards and a gleaming gold medal into my hands. She patted my shoulder and said, "Everyone should learn from Lin Yuan."
With dozens of eyes fixed on me, I felt genuinely awkward. I practically bolted back to my seat in three strides.
"I wish I could be as amazing as you," Li Jing said, looking at me with envy. She was a girl from a very ordinary background with average looks.
"It’s nothing," I said, scratching my head. "There are plenty of students in the school who enter competitions. Some prizes are in the hundreds of thousands. My little prize money isn't even enough for the school to bother holding a formal commendation ceremony."
Looking at the envy in Li Jing's eyes, I suddenly realized that while this nearly one hundred thousand yuan was insignificant to me, it was almost a full year's income for an ordinary family.
Thinking of this, the bank cards in my hand suddenly felt like they were burning.
On a whim, I made a decision.
I was only sixteen, an age for youthful arrogance, and I had the capital to back it up.
I stood up and called out to Chu Ning, "Teacher, please take the school's eighty-eight thousand yuan reward and use it to support the students in our class who come from poor families."
Chu Ning was visibly stunned, unable to process it for a moment. The classroom fell into a dead silence.
After a good ten seconds, Chu Ning frowned and asked, "Lin Yuan, are you sure?"
Eighty-eight thousand yuan was not a small sum.
"I’ve made up my mind." I smiled, stood up, placed the bank card on the podium, and then quickly walked back.
Chu Ning watched my retreating back and suddenly gave a soft smile. Her eyes were filled with a complex mix of emotions.
Was it praise? Pride? Or perhaps satisfaction?
"Yuan is the man!"
Suddenly, someone in the classroom shouted, followed by a wave of cheering and applause that echoed through the room for a long time.
"Yuan, you're a legend!" Wang Shuo leaned forward and shouted at me.
"Stop it." I gave a helpless laugh and handed the bank card with the ten thousand yuan prize to Wang Shuo.
Wang Shuo froze. "Yuan, what are you doing? I can't take this."
I laughed and cursed at him, "Don't be so full of yourself, it's not for you! There are fifty people in our class, and there's ten thousand on this card. That’s a budget of two hundred per person. You organize an activity for tomorrow. For those who can't make it, convert their share into a digital red envelope and send it to them."
"Are you for real, Yuan?" Wang Shuo was hesitant to take the card. "You should keep this ten thousand for yourself."
Like the other students, he didn't know my family's actual situation.
I waved him off. "No need. I’m leaving it to you. Just handle my share for me!"
Two hundred yuan wasn't a fortune for a high schooler, but it certainly wasn't pocket change either.
"Quiet down now." Chu Ning gave me a warm smile from the podium. "Thank you for your contribution, Lin Yuan."
Seeing that the class was about to start rowdy again, Chu Ning quickly flipped open her textbook to suppress the room. "Class is starting! Open your mock exam booklets to page twenty-three!"
...
As I was listening intently, a serious problem suddenly occurred to me: the story of Zi Lu and the Ox!
By doing this, what would happen to other students who won awards in the future?
Should they donate, or not?
Wasn't I making things difficult for everyone else?
I rubbed my head, feeling a bit of a headache coming on. Wang Shuo whispered behind my ear, "Yuan, what's wrong?"
I told him the truth.
Wang Shuo curled his lip dismissively. "Yuan, no offense, but among the mediocre crowd in our class, who else besides you is actually going to win an award?"
I let out a silent laugh and made a decision: if any student really did try to follow my example and donate their prize money in the future, I’d just have to use my private stash to compensate them.
"Lin Yuan! Wang Shuo!"
A piece of chalk flew from the podium. Chu Ning looked "murderous," her tone chillingly low. "The two of you are whispering so much—do you want to stay after school and help the students on duty clean the classroom?"
"Lin Yuan, let me remind you!" Chu Ning paused slightly. "Temporary success doesn't guarantee success in the College Entrance Exam, do you understand?"
Wang Shuo and I immediately lowered our heads, not daring to meet her "icy" gaze...
