Taming the Honest Demon
After taming Ravager Hellcrown and Viridora, we headed off again to tame the guests currently staying at the hotel. There was no need to search the hotel high and low. The rabbit staff had already pinpointed all the guests' locations. So all we had to do was follow their guidance to meet them. For the record, all the rabbit staff had already been tamed.
Madam Rabbit explained that the number of guests currently staying at the hotel wasn't that high. There were the Snake Head and Mummy Skeleton already tamed to me from the start, the freshly tamed Viridora, and three more guests besides them.
“Three, huh... Madam Rabbit, can you give me some advance info on the guests?”
All the guests' powers were sealed. There shouldn't be any fights unless something unexpected happened. But there was no guarantee nothing unexpected would crop up, so it couldn't hurt to get some prior intel on them. For all I knew, an SSS-grade threat-level monster could be visiting the hotel.
As we rode the elevator, Madam Rabbit fluently rattled off details on the remaining three guests. Two of them were around the same level as her and the other staff. Queen Melifera, a humanoid monster who summons small honeybee minions and produces delicious honey. Ravager Hellcrown, a humanoid demon-type monster exiled from hell and now living as a wanderer. Both were probably S-grade. As mentioned earlier, she said they were around Madam Rabbit's level.
And the last guest was clearly a cut above the rest, she explained.
Pixel Golem. That monster was probably SS-grade.
Conversation over, we stepped out of the elevator. Glancing briefly at my monsters, I saw Art Pega Unicorn clutching her monster compendium, eyes sparkling. She was clearly planning to start sketching the moment she saw a new one.
“Art Pega.”
“You just drew Viridora. So hand over the compendium work for this one's taming to me.”
Art Pega's face filled with despair. Shocked at not being able to draw, her hand clutching the compendium even trembled. She's got a worse drawing addiction than me.
“...I'll draw the first monster, and yield the other two to you.”
No choice—I yielded two sketches. Letting out a small sigh, I shifted my gaze to survey the space we'd arrived in. A long counter lined with softly glowing crystal glasses. Behind it, walls displayed countless wine bottles. Before the endless counter stretched countless tables at proper intervals, plus a lounge area with red leather sofas.
It was a wine bar.
Madam Rabbit pointed in one direction. Along the long counter, pretty far off, stood a rabbit beastkin bartender. And in front of her sat a demon that caught my eye.
I walked over with my monsters. As the distance closed, the bartender and demon came into sharper focus. Finally, we reached them.
Ravager Hellcrown sipped his wine, glanced over with a slight turn of his head, and eyed me.
“...Pretty chill about it. Anyway, if you've been waiting, you're prepared to be tamed, right?”
“You get it.”
Quick to give up. Fine by me if there's no resistance. I placed my hand on the red spot marked on his body.
“......”
The discoloration was slower than expected. He must harbor some serious hostility toward me.
'Can't use mind control right now... Guess I'll just attach the severed arm I brought.'
With that thought, I pulled out the pre-prepared severed arm and attached it to his body. Ravager Hellcrown stared blankly at it for a moment, then shifted his gaze to me.
“Yeah?”
“...Huh?”
Ravager Hellcrown smirked wickedly. I scratched my head, brushing it off.
“Uh, sure... Give it your best shot.”
No need for caution. No worries either. Not blind faith in the Helper Trait—it was just that even if he betrayed me, he couldn't win. Even outside the hotel. He was weakened to B-grade. I had S-grade power. No B-grade could kill a physical S-grade, even with a perfect ambush.
“But why say it out loud? Just stay quiet, wait for an opening, and ambush on the sly.”
Come to think of it, when Madam Rabbit introduced him, she said he got exiled from hell for slipping up with his tongue. Probably blabbed his inner thoughts like this and got hated and kicked out by the hell folks.
“Good luck.”
“Huh?”
“......”
I hopped up onto the counter and sat, starting to sketch Ravager Hellcrown into the compendium as he kept voicing his delusions. I'd heard his abilities already. No weapon on him now, but I recalled Madam Rabbit's description and roughly drew it in.
“Shut up.”
