31. Iron ingots won't drop
As soon as I woke up in the morning, I made a Glowstone. I wanted to install it in the room right away, but it was unexpectedly bright, so I couldn't put it in the hut. In Minecraft, I used to use these for interior decoration, but now that I'm actually living here, it's not easy to use. For one thing, people like me and Ranma have the kind of personality where we can't sleep if it's bright at night. I thought about surrounding it with Trapdoors to reduce the light, but it was still too bright for me and Ranma. I thought about installing it in front of the hut, but that wasn't great either. If I was going to do that, it would be cleaner and more comfortable not to install it at all.
The solution came from an unexpected place. Asagi wanted to have a Glowstone. However, Asagi also felt that the brightness was excessive when just a single Glowstone was placed, so she used Trapdoors to dim the light a bit. When she installed it on the ceiling and surrounded it with Trapdoors, the brightness was definitely reduced, maintaining a level of brightness like a mood light. Asagi seemed quite pleased with it.
When I woke up in the morning, I spoke to Ranma first.
"I think we need to act separately today."
"Hmm? Sounds like you want me to run the Monster Farm alone?"
Ranma said, frowning. I nodded. What I was about to do now was something that would help Ranma, too. I had nothing to hold back.
"I'm going to build another Monster Farm."
"A Monster Farm? The same one we built now?"
At Ranma's words, I shook my head. What I need to build is that Monster Farm we first built back in the day. The one that looks like a big wooden spatula.
When I said that, Ranma looked at me with a disgusted expression.
"What are you going to do if an Enderman shows up again?"
"It's easy to trap them if I just make eye contact and get them to charge at me. If that doesn't work, Asagi-ssi will catch it."
"Don't worry. I can handle it on my own."
"...I'll help too, then."
At Asagi's words, Ranma told Asagi that he would help her too. I was dumbfounded. Isn't that obvious? If Asagi retires here, we're next. We had to live together and die together anyway.
"That's obvious."
"Shut up."
Ranma dismissed my words. My insides were boiling, but I held it in this time, too. Ranma's attitude toward me has been changing a little lately, too. He definitely seems to think we've become close, but that's one thing, and since I'm older than Ranma, I can handle being scolded by Asagi, who is older than me, but getting scolded by that bastard Ranma made my rage boil over.
But I have to endure it. Because Ranma is better at fighting than I am.
"Yeah."
I became a gentle lamb and nodded at Ranma's words. It's frustrating! But I can't win! Am I going to die of depression like this? I need a place to relieve stress! I approached the Fox I had caged the other day. Seeing the cute appearance of the Fox will be a little healing.
Kang! Kangkang! Kang!
As soon as the fox bastard saw me, it started acting like a rabid dog, struggling to escape. It was pitiful to see it trembling all over. Even the Fox doesn't like me!
"This is Hell difficulty."
I thought that to myself and suppressed my anger alone. If I keep living like this, I might really die from stress. Hurry, I need to get Iron Ingots quickly, gather the things I need, and reach the Nether World as soon as possible. Animal Therapy! I need Animal Therapy! I need to hurry and copy Dirt Blocks to create a space where animals can spawn, then I can raise pigs, dogs, and cows! I will heal the stress I've received from people by interacting with animals!
"Ranma! I believe in you!"
"Yeah. But I can't pick up items, right? What are you going to do about that problem?"
"I'll go in and loot once every three cycles."
"Three? Won't the items disappear?"
"Right now, making beds for both of us is more important than that."
"What if an Iron Ingot drops?"
"Then you should obviously call me. You saw the Iron Ingot yesterday, right? If it drops, don't just take it and leave; come out immediately. You don't even have to kill the monster, just call me. Got it?"
"Yeah."
Ranma nodded at my request. Yeah, wouldn't it be nice if you listened like that all the time? As a reward for giving me a pretty decent answer, I handed Ranma a piece of Bread. Ranma's face brightened as he grabbed the Bread and devoured it on the spot.
"Aren't you giving me one?"
"Of course I should."
I handed a piece of Bread to Asagi, who was asking subtly from the side. I was full. I preferred eating Apples over Bread. Just like they say an apple in the morning is a golden apple, I'll eat an apple for my body!
We finished assigning our tasks. Ranma is hunting at the Monster Farm. Asagi-ssi is logging. I am building a new Monster Farm. Why am I doing the most dangerous job? I'm the weakest one here.
It couldn't be more shitty that this crappy system only reacts to me. To think that no one else can build anything if it's not me; this Monster Farm isn't even difficult, so anyone could build it if asked, without even needing a blueprint!
Since it's impossible to connect blocks without me, I have to do it in the end.
Ranma left for the Monster Farm, and Asagi headed to the logging site with the full-durability Wooden Axe I had made for her. From now on, I have to use the wood that Asagi-ssi logged all day yesterday to build another Monster Farm.
This time, I'm going to make it a bit more detailed. Though, when I say detailed, it's just one thing: since I know the Zombie's perception range, I'll place the spawn point further away. Still, it's fortunate that the supply rate of Oak Logs has increased a lot compared to the beginning, so there won't be a shortage of materials even if I make it that long.
The player perception range of a Zombie is 40. Furthermore, if a player hits a Zombie, all the Zombies in the vicinity will rush at the player. I didn't remember what that range was, but it doesn't matter. Anyway, Zombies at this Monster Farm aren't targets to fight... no, wait.
If I play this right, I might be able to catch a lot of Zombies?
Come to think of it, I don't understand why I was trying to make the Monster Farm match our platform height. Since Zombies have a much higher perception range than regular mobs anyway, if I maintain 24m, nothing else will come with them, and only the Zombies will be lured to me. Besides, catching Spiders is not dangerous if done in the morning, just like last time. I won't be able to collect all the Spider Webs in just today, but if I catch them for about 2 days like this, it will be possible to meet the amount of Spider Webs we want. Ranma went down once yesterday, and I went down the day before, so it's my turn to go down today. It seems like 2 more beds will be made before Ranma goes down once more.
I quickly made stairs 3 blocks high from the platform we were standing on and installed them at the exact opposite position of the Monster Farm Ranma entered. I just need to make a trap for the Zombies to fall down below this. Anyway, the trap below isn't meant to kill the Zombies by making them fall to their deaths. It's to gather the Zombies and kill them all at once. Since I stacked it up, if I connect the platform to a certain position, it's possible to make a trap to gather the Zombies.
The trap made that way is a 2x2 square shape. The platform is, of course, made of Half Blocks, and if you look down from below, there's a hole wide open where you can only see the Zombies' shins. If Asagi or Ranma are waiting below, the Zombies spawned from the Monster Farm will naturally be lured to me and fall into the trap. Asagi and Ranma just have to keep swinging their swords, and the Zombies will be caught continuously. If there's one downside, it's that if an Enderman appears, you can't kill it by fall damage, but in the case of an Enderman, I think we'll just have to desperately fight and kill the ones that teleported to the platform to steal Dirt Blocks.
...Thinking about Endermen, I just want to make them fall to their deaths.
To gain one thing, you have to give up another. It feels like everything I've thought of so far has been flowing in that way. Asagi said that one Enderman is nothing. Then what about 2 Endermen? 3 Endermen? They probably won't pop out in large numbers all at once, but it's certainly scary nonetheless.
I need certainty. Certainty about whether I can build this Monster Farm.
I left the Monster Farm I was building and quickly went to Asagi. Since she would have finished logging anyway, it was time to replant the Oak Saplings and loot the items scattered on the ground.
Asagi was just finishing her last bit of logging and wiping the sweat flowing down her forehead.
"Asagi-ssi!"
"Hmm? Why did you come?"
......
"Why did you come," she says. Aren't you even happy to see me?
I suppressed my hurt feelings and, keeping my distance from Asagi, who is sensitive to my smell, I looked into Asagi's eyes seriously. It was hard to be serious because of the fact that I have to keep this distance because of my smell, but anyway, I did.
"Enderman. How many can you handle?"
"Hmm? If it's an Enderman, I think 2 would be no problem."
"Honestly. Let's be honest with each other."
I asked again with a serious expression at Asagi's words. Because if Asagi exaggerated her abilities and I blindly believed it and built the Monster Farm, only to be overwhelmed by numbers, it was obvious that we would all die with no answer.
At my response, Asagi became serious and pondered as well. She seemed to be objectively calculating her own combat power and the combat power of the Enderman we fought back then.
After thinking for a long time, Asagi looked up at me and spoke.
"I think 3 is also possible."
"...."
Really?
Can I believe that?
With Ranma here too, even if I'm worried, we might be able to fight. But since it's a matter of life and death, it's too hard for me to decide on my own.
Is this the weight of a leader!
But still, to get Iron Ingots quickly, this method seems the best. Since we can catch Spiders in the morning anyway.
