Skill Gacha Jackpot
'Nice.' Seeing the Vital Energy tally surpass thousands inexplicably warmed my heart.
"Let's take a look."
I let out a short chuckle and examined the shop.
"...Should I draw a bunch of items? Nah, skills might be better?"
Truth be told, I really wanted to go for the random equipment boxes, but the Vital Energy cost was way too steep. Besides, I didn't desperately need gear in my current state anyway.
I swallowed hard and selected the 10x random skill box draw.
Unlike a single draw, a bombastic fanfare blared as the boxes opened one after another in sequence.
Congratulations!
Orc Summon
Effect: Summons 1 orc.
Forced unsummon cooldown: 2 hours.
"Am I seriously turning into a summoner?"
The first one was Orc Summon, just like Goblin Summon. Clicking my tongue, I opened the rest in turn.
Congratulations!
Charm
Effect: Increases Charm stat by 10%.
Congratulations!
Bind
Effect: Restrains target at current location. Duration based on target's level (min 0 sec / max 10 min).
Cooldown: 10 minutes.
Congratulations!
Goblin Summon
Effect: Summons 1 goblin.
Forced unsummon cooldown: 1 hour.
Current user already possesses duplicate skill: Goblin Summon.
Duplicates allow skill enhancement or Vital Energy exchange (Vital Energy gain halved).
[Skill Enhancement / Vital Energy Exchange]
"Yeah, I was wondering when this would show up."
As if determined to turn me into a full summoner, the fourth box yielded Goblin Summon. Clicking my tongue, I immediately enhanced it.
Effect: Summons 12 goblins.
Forced unsummon cooldown: 1 hour.
"...Now that's impressive."
It seemed the number doubled with each enhancement—straight to 12 goblins in one go. Now I had 24 skeletons, 12 goblins, and 1 orc. And the kicker? Even if they all died, I could resummon them after a set time.
"A true undead army."
It was a nightmare for anyone on the receiving end. Marveling at it all, I continued opening the boxes.
Congratulations!
Reprimand
Effect: Target's EXP gain +10% for 1 hour when reprimanded.
Cannot reuse on same target within 24 hours.
Congratulations!
Strength
Effect: Strength +5%.
Congratulations!
High-Speed Movement
Effect: Enables instantaneous high-speed movement.
Cooldown: 1 hour.
Current user already possesses duplicate skill: High-Speed Movement.
Duplicates allow skill enhancement or Vital Energy exchange (Vital Energy gain halved).
[Skill Enhancement / Vital Energy Exchange]
"Oh..."
This time it was High-Speed Movement. 'Come to think of it, that time I saved Seoyeon noona, the instant burst of speed must've been this.' Recalling something I'd completely forgotten, I felt grateful toward the skill and hurriedly enhanced it.
Effect: Enables instantaneous high-speed movement.
Cooldown: 50 minutes.
"So it shortens the cooldown."
I'd been curious what enhancement did—it just reduced reuse time. But that alone was hugely valuable. Just +1 shaved off a full 10 minutes. Meaning at +6, it'd hit zero cooldown.
'Infinite High-Speed Movement with no cooldown...'
A monstrous ability if there ever was one. Clicking my tongue, I pressed on with the boxes.
Congratulations!
Praise
Effect: All target stats +1 for 1 hour when praised.
Cannot reuse on same target within 24 hours.
Congratulations!
Beast Transformation (Bear)
Effect: Transform into a beast (bear).
"Now even transformations?"
A bear, no less. 'No way... this actually turns me into a real bear, right?'
I desperately wanted to test it right then, but I tamped down the urge.
'...Gotta hold back. This is a hospital room.'
If I turned into a bear here, the whole hospital would freak out. If I really wanted to try, I could head to the Training Room or test it during an Otherworld Quest. Calming my impulses, I opened the final box.
Congratulations!
Goblin Summon
Effect: Summons 1 goblin.
Forced unsummon cooldown: 1 hour.
Current user already possesses duplicate skill: Goblin Summon.
Duplicates allow skill enhancement or Vital Energy exchange (Vital Energy gain halved).
[Skill Enhancement / Vital Energy Exchange]
"Insane..."
The tenth and final box: Goblin Summon again. The odds were ridiculous. Random or not, this was overkill—out of ten skills, two were Goblin Summon.
'If I snag Goblin King, it'd be perfect.'
Shaking my head, I selected enhancement.
Enhancements from +3 onward have a chance of failure.
Proceed with enhancement?
[Yes / No]
"..."
The failure chance note made my hand tremble involuntarily. My mind flashed with memories of countless high-end items ruined in the enhancement pit—reduced to ash, or worse, vanished without a trace.
'At least no downgrade here. But higher levels probably have that too.'
I was certain: this system had downgrades, even skill deletions!
'...Alright, let's do it!'
I boldly hit enhance.
Effect: Summons 24 goblins.
Forced unsummon cooldown: 1 hour.
"Yes!"
I shouted in triumph at the success. The patient reading next to me jumped, staring wide-eyed. I quickly bowed in apology and handed over a bottle of Bacchus he'd gotten from Eunha yesterday as a get-well gift.
'Heh, what a massive number.'
Grinning inwardly, I grabbed another Bacchus.
'...24 goblins, 24 skeletons. Add the orc and Elena, that's 50 in total!'
Imagining myself flanked by goblins, skeletons, an orc, and the succubus made my lips curl to my ears.
Author's Note
Goblins and skeletons like juggling.
