The moment I subdued the woman, a notification popped up on my smartphone screen asking if I wanted to enslave the boss monster.

Succubi are the female version of incubi, a type of European dream demon. They sneak into sleeping men's beds, have sex with them in their dreams, and drain their vital energy until they're depleted. In medieval Europe, they blamed every wet dream on succubi. Religious traditions even warned that repeated encounters could ruin your health—or kill you outright.
And here, it looked like she stuck faithfully to that lore. I'd nearly ended up like the guy behind me, drained dry and dead.

While I was checking out my new succubus slave's info, three goblins approached and knelt before me.

I steadied my breathing and eyed the goblins. Green skin, maybe 1.2 meters tall at most, but their scrawny frames were packed with bulging muscles on arms and legs. And the way they looked at me with eyes full of reverence? No doubt about their loyalty.

Still, no room for complacency. If I slipped up and showed weakness, they might turn on me without warning. For now, I needed to play it cautious and build some favor.
"Were you the ones hit by the succubus's attack earlier?"

The goblin thumped its chest proudly in response. Looked unscathed.
'Were succubi always this weak?'
In the game I remembered, they wielded scythes and had a decently tough look... Though players still wrecked them anyway.

A groan came from the fallen succubus. I gripped my Jet-Black Staff tight and turned toward her, ready to counter if she tried anything.
"Stay alert."
"Keket!"
The goblins raised their weapons and surrounded her. As the succubus came to, she clutched her head with one hand, then glared at them with fury.
"H-how dare goblins like you...!"
"Elena."
"Eek? H-how do you know my name...?"
She looked genuinely flustered when I called her by name. I forced a smile.
"Where's the mana stone fragment?"
"Huh? Mana stone fragment? Oh, you came here for that? Why? You want it?"
She pulled a black stone from between her breasts and dangled it teasingly.
"Would you give it to me?"
"Why should I?"
She snorted, clutching it tight in her left hand. No way she'd hand it over nicely. I turned to the goblins.
"Take it from her."
"Keket!"
Goblin Summon
The three goblins charged her the instant I gave the order. But she wasn't going down easy—she flapped the pair of wings on her back and shouted.
"I was off-guard last time, but no chance now!"
She swung her hand to knock away a goblin's club. Or tried to.
"...Kyaa! Wh-what kind of goblins are this strong?!"
Shrieking in shock, she couldn't mount any real counter against their coordinated assault and just scrambled around dodging. Meanwhile, I pulled out my phone to check the latest notification.
Elena is now considered an enemy.
Jet-Black Staff Effect 3 does not apply.
'Ah... I get it now.'
That's why she was struggling against the goblins.
'...Buffs really do make a difference. And her being lowest-grade didn't help.'
I let out a soft chuckle and slammed the Jet-Black Staff into the ground.

A black orb materialized in front of me without fail. I locked eyes on the spot right beside her—it shot forward and exploded massively.
"Eek!"
The blast whipped up a fierce wind that slammed into her back. Unable to withstand the gust, she tumbled forward with a sharp scream.
I approached slowly, a faint smile on my lips. Standing over her, I looked down and spoke.
"Want to keep going?"
"N-no..."
Tears welled in her eyes as she meekly handed over the mana stone fragment.
