Chapter 325: Afterword
Chapter 325: Afterword
Hello, this is Wol-eun-ryeong.
We’ve finally reached the end of a long, 324-chapter journey. I think this one ended up being almost 100 chapters longer than my previous work, and I have to admit, this was my first time writing such a long series, and there were many moments when it wasn't easy.
I was constantly worried that even if I tried to frame a scene in a new way, it would feel like I was just rehashing or milking things I’d already done. I often had to take hiatuses earlier than planned (I’m sorry…) and was frequently late with updates (I’m truly sorry… T_T), but I think I managed to endure by holding onto the mindset of just getting to the finish line while keeping my promise of N chapters per week.
I ended up here by just deciding to write down every single idea that came to mind, scraping the very bottom of my brain’s erotic fiction idea bank until it was empty. If I write another novel, I’ll have to do a better job of managing the length.
Since it's the finale, I might as well ramble on a bit more…….
As those who have followed me for a while might know, having now completed two female-led erotic novels (which together are over 500 chapters long, wow…), I love the female lead genre. In regular novels or comics, I prefer male protagonists, but when it comes to 19+ creative works, I just find stories told from a female protagonist’s point of view more arousing.
That’s why my previous work and this one, Masochist Magical Girl, are both the result of my efforts to make ‘what I like’ as accessible as possible to ‘as many people as possible.’ Honestly, since I write what I enjoy, I’d be fine even if I only made enough for pocket money, but it’s always better if more people read it.
I won’t mention any names, but I looked at the works of great authors who came before me in similar genres and thought about what points landed, and what kind of hooks could attract more readers by minimizing the resistance to a niche genre like ‘female-led erotic fiction.’
The first was pure love, and the second was the bitch genre.
I found that with the bitch genre (or slut genre), in particular, many people seemed to feel less resistance, even though the protagonist is a woman who sleeps around indiscriminately, perhaps because it reduces the focus on feminine sensibilities. I figured this was an important factor, especially since Novelpia has a predominantly male readership.
Now, about when I started writing this novel—it was right around the time the AI art craze was just beginning to take off. I was also just clicking around, generating a few images on my own.
But before I knew it, I found myself creating a continuous story. It was about a plain but busty girl who transforms into an overpowered magical girl and pretends to submit to villains while actually being the one to fuck them.
In fact, in my initial concept, I planned not to have any male characters appear more than once, intending to make it a complete omnibus where a different male character appeared in every episode. But that was a very early idea, and creating a new male character every single time proved surprisingly difficult. Plus, there were quite a few comments asking for previous male characters to return, so in the end, it settled into the current format where new male characters occasionally appear while existing ones also return in a rotation.
Looking back now, there are a few episodes with rather poor quality, and I think they came out of that transitional period. I have some regrets, but what’s past is past, so I have to let it go.
……But to be honest with you now, I truly never expected to receive this much love.
I might have spoken grandly about researching ways to lower reader resistance, but when you get down to it, I just started this because I was messing with AI art, saw some novels on Novelpia using AI illustrations, and thought, “Why keep this to myself? Maybe I should try serializing something with this.” It also happened to be during a 19+ erotic fiction mini-contest called Aesseojwo-yong.
Unfortunately, I didn’t win a prize, but I received a level of support I could have never imagined. I hit number one in the contest rankings, received donations, and even got featured on Million Novel… To be honest, I think the illustrations were a really big help, haha.
+) AI art programs evolved a lot while I was writing this series, but I kept using an old version. The new versions just couldn't replicate that old art style, lol. It wouldn't have bothered me, but I was worried it would feel unfamiliar to my readers, so I stuck with the old model all the way to the end.
In any case, I wanted to be sure to say thank you for the overwhelming love you’ve given me. The only reason Defeat Addicted Masochist Magical Girl was able to safely run its course to the very end is because of all of you, the readers.
Now then, for those who might be curious, let’s talk about my next work…….
First off, it probably won’t be out anytime soon. I do plan to write again someday, but it definitely won’t be in the near future. Writing isn’t my main job, and more importantly, my brain’s erotic fiction storeroom has been completely emptied while writing this series, so I think it will take quite a while to fill it back up.
Still, if I do write something, I don’t think it will have the same atmosphere as this work, Masochist Magical Girl, or my previous one, Fake Lovers. I want to take the genres I love and challenge myself in a new field each time.
In Fake Lovers, I wrote a pure love female protagonist, and in Masochist Magical Girl, I wrote the opposite, a slutty female protagonist. Readers who followed me from my previous work might have been taken aback, but I want to keep trying new things. And I suppose it’s the author’s job to research how to make those new things enjoyable for as many readers as possible.
Of course, I’ll be taking a break for a while, so something else might come to mind, but for now, what I’m thinking is… well, since both of my previous works had a modern setting, I’d like to try writing in a fantasy setting.
It might even be a male-led story. A typical male-led erotic fantasy harem. It’s a very familiar genre to readers of erotic fiction, but for me, it would be a new challenge since I’ve never written one. I think it would be fun to shape attractive erotic heroines, and I do want to try my hand at the explicit and vulgar harem sex of the genre.
[A religious order, once mighty in its male-supremacist ideology, is now in decline. The protagonist, chosen by the order’s goddess because of his naturally giant cock, unexpectedly becomes its Saint and goes around converting “unbeliever” women. He goes a step further by fucking the goddesses of other religions, achieving a true religious victory.]
But writing a third consecutive female-led erotic novel and becoming a rare specialist in the genre doesn’t sound too bad either.
If I do write another female-led story, I’m currently looking at the harem integration genre. To be honest, I haven’t really read much in that genre yet. I just have a gut feeling that it’s hot. It’s such a niche genre, though, so it’s admittedly a bit daunting.
[The protagonist was a veteran player of an erotic game, but she undergoes a TS possession into the body of an extra in a fantasy world where the male protagonist (the Player) doesn't exist. She decides to forget about sex and enjoy a peaceful, single life in the countryside. One day, a complete newbie suddenly appears as the Player and is told he has to conquer all the heroines to return to the real world. To get rid of this dangerous person known as the Player, she has no choice but to help him conquer the heroines.]
I’m not sure which of the two I’ll end up writing. I might even come back with a completely different idea. There isn’t much to write for a side story for Masochist Magical Girl, so I’ll be going into hibernation for a while. During that time, I’ll fully recharge my erotic fiction power and return in good form.
Thank you so much for being with me all this time
